The breakfast was splendid and the front of house staff, a wonderful woman, was so helpful - we were there during a public holiday period - but calls were made on our behalf & transport was organised - impeccable service! The pool was very well kept and we were permitted to swim a couple of evenings which was very welcome.

Unfortunately a lot of gardening work was done just before we arrived so it was a bit of an eyesore. Upside: There was more light and the birds were more visible so actually we managed to see several less common birds more easily.

My son and I were in Colombo for A levels and booked 10 nights at Artisan Villa. The staff was so friendly and helpful and wanting to always make sure we were happy and taken care of. They cleaned the room as often as we wanted with excellency. The building is an older style Ceylon feel, which we loved and just gives so much character to the place. The view from our room with the gorgeous garden, over look of the pool and massive tree with the most amazing birds making home, just made our stay. The price was fantastic for all that we had with care, facilities, delicious local breakfast included. Would highly recommend.

A secluded haven in the suburbs of bustling Colombo, taking on the air of shabby chic with more than a nod to Sri Lanka’s colonial past. The entrance is dominated by a courtyard sheltered by a huge overhanging tree. Costa and Nuwan were exceptional - attentive accommodating and took great pride in their product and service - the breakfast ritual was very lovely. although there was food on offer we only had breakfast and then opted to get food delivered but this was supplemented by Costa who did a little shopping for us to have essentials in our room and to stock the mini fridge. The room was very spacious air conditioned with all amenities as described including a large en suite. seating areas upstairs and downstairs are open on one face and airy and breezy. The pool was large for the property and very welcoming in the humidity of Colombo.

The courtyard entrance is a little dark made so by the characterful hanging tree in the centre of it, the pool is bombarded by falling flowers and other plant bits from the lush tropical trees overlooking it. Costa and Nuwan do a sterling job trying to keep the pool free of debris though. there is cable/satellite to but the package is very basic with not many international channels included.

We had a one night stay and Satheesh was an incredible and an extremely helpful host. The whole ambience along with the antique style architecture added up to the experience! We booked a pool and garden view room and I must say the morning was absolutely beautiful despite the villa being located in the middle of the Colombo city. The villa has a homely vibe to it and lucky for us, my partner and I were the only guests! Will definitely come for another wonderful stay at this hidden gem.

Breakfast was great, an authentic sri lankan style cooked fresh on site. the location of our room was amazing with a huge tree right outside the window that was alive with the most stunning little chipmunks.

The property itself was in need of some TLC, It is a beautiful walled in area but just a little tired.

Artisan Villa was a quiet and serene place to stay (I am not sure if the pool could be used or not). Relatively close to the main objectives when visiting Colombo (30min by walking) The room was big, it had air conditioning which was a must taking into consideration that there were 31 degrees outside. We had an early check-in and the staff was nice enough to keep our backpacks so that we could go explore the city. I must say that the sri lankan breakfast was very very good :) And the staff was super nice and curious about our country. Thanks for everything!

Large, spacious, and aesthetic rooms, beautiful view, friendly and helpful staff, located in the heart of Colombo

Small inconveniences, such as the mini fridge door was mouldy, a few too many ants in the room, TV set top box wasn’t recharged and was not working that day, additional bottles of water were chargeable but our host kindly waived it off.

Nice room, comfortable beds. Good breakfast, pool was clean but cold so didn’t enjoy it like we had hoped.

Pity this property has been neglected by its owners. It could be so much more as the aesthetic is lovely and the rooms large and well located. The staff are helpful friendly and do their best but the property needs maintenance by its owners.

The staff were really lovely, for part of my stay I was the only person (as it’s low season) They put the table in the garden for me to have breakfast outside, and when I enquired about Sri Lankan breakfast they made it for me the next day. They also let me check out late.

Location - not much in walking distance however it was quiet which is a plus.

The location for me was ideal. I had a very pleasant and comfortable stay in a spacious room. I also enjoyed the pool which the staff did their best to keep clean of leaves.

A rack to hang clothes on would have been handy, though there were plenty of cupboards.
