Our stay at Hanthana House was excellent. The owners, Pathi and Suba, welcomed us warmly and they, and their team, really showed the best of Sri Lankan hospitality. We were always welcome to join in any planned activities (the sunset walk was the loveliest start to our stay) and our needs were always perfectly accommodated. The house was very nice, and our room was clean, bright and well appointed with a balcony with views over the lush surrounds. It was perfectly located as a starting point to the Pekoe walking trail but we also loved the 20mins downhill walk into Kandy itself. If anything we just wish we'd had time to take the cooking class because all of the food was excellent. It was a short, but memorable stay; I couldn't recommend Hanathan House enough. We had an amazing stay at Hanthana House. The room was spotless, modern, and the bed super comfortable – truly first-class quality. The balcony view over the jungle is just magical: waking up to monkeys and birds is an experience in itself. What made it unforgettable were the hosts – Paty, his wife, and their son Mack – who are true super hosts. They made us feel at home from the first moment, always warm and welcoming. Don’t miss the homemade curry with rice for dinner – absolutely delicious, a 10/10! This place combines comfort, nature, and genuine hospitality. Highly recommended if you’re visiting Kandy.

We had a glorious stay here and it was a most welcome break from all the intensive travelling we had done on the journey so far. The property is absolutely stunning and we loved the aesthetics. The bedsheets were crisp and white, and the four posters very comforting like a cocoon. The room and bathroom were spacious and very tastefully decorated with local touches. We enjoyed the rain shower and the hotel grounds. Breakfast was also delightful and plentiful. Thank you to mama and papa who work tirelessly to run this establishment - you’re doing such an incredible job and we would love to stay again one day. In the meantime, we will recommend Hanthana House far and wide 😍

Nothing whatsoever. Beautiful property, beautiful owners and beautiful staff

The vibe and amenities of the property were just as we expected—modern, stylish, and thoughtfully designed right in the heart of Kandy. The staff were warm and very responsive; we could message them anytime, even late at night, and they were quick to assist. We also had the chance to meet the lovely property owners, who were kind and accommodating. The bed was very comfortable, and the AC worked perfectly. Our room opened to a shared balcony with a great view overlooking the city. They served us a delicious traditional Sri Lankan breakfast—an extra serving of yogurt would have made it even better!

We had a bit of trouble locating the property, as Google Maps directed us to a different route, but the staff were helpful and guided us smoothly to the right place.

We had 3 amazing nights at Hanthana House. We totally recommend it! The room was very big, so was the bathroom. The bed and pillows were so comfortable, we slept like babies. Also, they have the best breakfast and dinner, we loved it. In addition, they have a service of tuk tuk to drive you to the city and to pick you up from where you need. The staff is absolutely amazing!! They have even gave us their phone numbers for us to call them when we get back home, to share a recipe of a dish we absolutely loved there. The location is amazing: in the middle of nature, surrounded by flowers and birds, very quiet and modern area. The view from the rooftop is also lovely. Also, the house itself is very nice built, great quality furniture, linen and beautiful design. I would have given a 10, but unfortunately we had problems with the Wi-Fi in 2 out of the 3 nights we spent there... the owners tried fixing it, but it did not work. However, even without wifi, it was amazing. Totally recommend it!!

Hanthana House welcomes you with open arms. From your room you have a beautiful view over the Kandiyan mountains. The hotel is surrounded by green and a perfect place to stay and relax from the hustle and noise in beautiful Kandy. In a few minutes you can reach Kandy town by TukTuk. The temple of Nelligala sourrounded by mountains is only about half an hour away. The rooms was clean and comfortable. Food delicious and staff and owner always hospitable and warm-hearted. Felt very well taken care of and am looking forward to coming back.

Beautiful house up in the hills. With comfortable beds, rooms, Pathi and his family are very kind and always willing to help with anything you need. We spent one full day in Kandy all arranged by our ideas and Pathi made it into a better plan than we could have chose. It was an incredible day that we really enjoyed. Beautiful view in the mountains and comfortable room. I did a yoga class on the terrace which was an incredible way to start the day moving your body and wind flowing through your hair (highly recommend). Also the food was delicious, the ladies in the kitchen always cooking up the best food. You don’t choose, they create the menu for you but it’s delicious Sri Lankan cuisine.

The room was very clean, spacious, and well presented - by far the best we have stated in during our time in Sri Lanka. There were also tea and coffee making facilities, and filtered water in the room. We had dinner at the property which was a lovely homemade meal, and would highly recommend eating here. The host is such a kind and knowledgeable man - him and the other staff were all very welcoming and friendly throughout our stay, and we loved speaking to them about things to do in Sri Lanka. They even arranged a driver to take us around for the last few days of our trip for a very good price which was hugely appreciated. Incredible service - thank you!

Nothing we didn’t like - the only thing to be aware of is that the property is located in a quiet area (great for a good night sleep) 10mins Tuktuk from the town centre. It only costs about £2 and they are readily available or can be arranged by the host, so don’t let that put you off!

Location: The hotel is situated in a quiet residential neighborhood away from Kandy's main traffic. It's recommended to contact the hotel directly for directions, as Google Maps isn't entirely accurate for this location. Check-in: Upon arrival, we were welcomed by the owner who served refreshments in the main building's lobby. After completing the check-in process, we were escorted to our room on the top floor. Convenient parking is available outside the building. Room: Our accommodation featured a comfortable king-size bed, along with a spacious cupboard and table for storage. The bathroom is well-proportioned. The room's standout feature is its balcony, which offers mountain views and serves as an ideal spot for relaxation. Dining: Breakfast is served in a separate building and includes a traditional Sri Lankan spread of curry, string hoppers, fresh fruit, juice, and tea. The hotel also offers rice and curry dinner options priced at $12 per plate. The owner's suggestion to visit Glenloch tea estate proved to be a valuable recommendation.

Hanthana House is a comfortable place to stay away nestled in the hills up and away from the busy bustle of Kandy. The rooms are a good size and, on the whole, pretty clean and tidy. The welcome is warm and food was available at all meal times whilst we there and it was plentiful and tasty. It is easy to arrange Tuk Tuk transport to and from the city - the property has its own Tuk Tuk and can arrange alternative options if that is unavailable.

We felt the dinner was a little on the expensive side (and didn't know the price until we checked out).
