The hosts were incredibly friendly, helpful and accommodating. Breakfast was absolutely lovely and ample enough to keep you going for a day of exploration. The room was decently supplied and we slept comfortably. The minibar/fridge was also helpful and I appreciated that they tucked the mosquito nets for us behind the headboards so we slept comfortably. A/C worked well also (not true everywhere on our journeys through Sri Lanka ;)). Location was also really good- we could walk to everything we needed and there was plenty around, while still being sufficiently quiet at night.

The hot water ran out a bit for me and/or didn't always seem to work sufficiently, depending on when I showered.. (though I wouldn't say it was cold either, thankfully). The shower/bathroom also could use a little extra care at some point - but it was clean, so no issues there!

Great, friendly service. I had a late arrival so did not check in till about midnight. Room was expected for the price. Good breakfast - did not want any toast so they provided some roti which was welcomed. I was travelling onto Kandy the next day and they kindly sorted out a driver at a reasonable price, which was great of them. Really happy with experience and recommend for arriving late or leaving early for airport, which by tuk tuk, took about 20-25 mins (but need to remember this was nearly midnight).

Nothing that I can think of given the price. Comfy bed, clean towels and room, I was out like a light with no problem.

Very friendly and helpful hosts, very tasty breakfast. The place was clean and the owners allowed us to leave bags early until check in ( as we came early in the morning).

The owner is charming, hospitable & helpful. His staff similarly efficient and friendly. My room was large, very clean & comfortable with a wrap-around balcony that had a pleasant enough view over the neighbourhood. As others have mentioned, this is an old building and a humble establishment but very comfortable & well maintained nevertheless. Breakfast was great & filling, with plenty of delicious, home-made goodies.

A bit removed from shops & restaurants - maybe 800metres or so, but still manageable.

The staff were absolutely brilliant, they dealt with every request we had - arranging a tuk tuk to take us to the key sights in Negombo, as well as one to the airport at 5.15am. Great location for a couple of nights to spend at the end of a holiday, lovely comfy bed and excellent value for money. Also, we arrived well before check in, and it was absolutelyno problem to store our luggage until we could check in properly.

The showers could have been a bit better. Apart from that, all good.

The room was clean, with a confortable bed and the personal was really hepfull. They even bought us train tickets (My card wouldnt go through). Breakfast was also very good.

Its close to the beach, but i was expecting a better experience. The beach wasnt so clean.

The breakfast was outstanding, interesting, genuinely authentic and was even complemented with some sugar bananas and star fruit that was grown on the property. The paratha rotis were delicious. A great start to the day. The staff were able to help us organise a tour around some of the highlights of Colombo on the day we departed, which we really enjoyed for a fair price.

We stayed here only for a couple hourse in the night after our late arrival and early checkout. The owner was very friendly, even when we had to wake him up at 4:30 in the night when we arrived. We were lucky he checked our room after we got out and waiting for a taxi because we forgot a bag in the bathroom. So thank you for that!

Room had no A/C and was older.

I only stayed for one night at Hotel Dorset before catching my flight the next morning and will definitely be back for a longer stay! The place is lovely! Clean and cozy and very comfy beds (and mosquito nets:)). The hosts are so kind and caring, they greeted me with fresh juice and offered to make me an evening meal, and made me the most delicious breakfast before I left. They were also drove me to the airport the next morning and made sure that I got there safely, which I am incredibly grateful for. An absolute pleasure to stay here and to meet these wonderful people:)

The only minor complaint I had was due to my neighbors who arrived at 4am from their flight, and didn't realize they had a neighbor! They turned on all the lights (there was a glass panel at the top of the locked adjoining door, so the light lit my room up too), and started playing music and singing along. They were very apologetic when I knocked on their door, and this is no fault of the hotel, though it may be worth mentioning to guests arriving late that others are sleeping.

Really lovely staff who went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and at home in my short stay here. The homemade breakfast was delicious (omelette, fruits and tea) and the hotel is in a great location. Really glad I chose to stay here.

The room was quite hot even with the fan on and there were lots of mosquitoes and ants in the bathroom.
