We had such a great stay, I'm surprised this hotel is not rated higher on booking.com as it definitely exceeded our expectations. Such a convenient location if you are staying in Grindelwald. Despite being so close to the train, we didn't even hear anything while we were there! We visited at the end of March and it was very cosy and comfortable inside. The staff were so friendly and helpful, gave some really good advice about the sights and getting around the region. We ate at the restaurant twice and loved it both times. We would 100% recommend staying here and would stay here again if we ever come back to Grindelwald.

What can i say, you’re staying in a hotel just a few steps from the train station with such a breathtaking view. That trip was indeed, one of the most memorable trips I’ve ever been on. Everything was almost perfect except the short-haired woman working in the restaurant during breakfast that always touches the breads and pancakes with her bare hands. No hesitation at all even if i am beside her . Not hygienic, i know it’s not standard for them to just touch the food as they arrange it. It’s a No No in food industry. But nonetheless, i dont want to spoil my almost Perfect experience in their hotel because of her. Kudos to the hotel. Will surely comeback. Thanks for being a part of one memorable experience of us in Switzerland 🇨🇭

- right opposite Grindelwald train station (where mount First is located, not Grindelwald terminal station where cablecars to Jungfraujoch are). Extremely convenient. can literally get on the train from hotel room within five mins - room reasonable size, generous with toileteries unlike most other places we stayed in Switzerland - excellent view from the room - near the bus station, hotel gives you a bus pass during your stay (making bus rides free) - amazing buffet breakfast, continental + a few hot options - lots of food options around, also supermarket, within a few minutes walk - sauna was comfortable. It is free, just need to book in advance. Last session 8-9pm - most staff were nice, actually delivering service (those who experienced the general service quality in Switzerland will understand). Special thanks to Ricardo who went above and beyond to make us enjoy the stay. A few guys in the restaurant were also hospitable

- some facilities are a bit worn out, but not a major problem - the single bed was a bit small

Grindelwald was our home base for 4 nights. The Derby Swiss Quality Hotel was the perfect choice for our stay. The location right next to the train station worked great for day trips to Lauterbrunnen, Interlaken, and Bern. No lugging suitcases long distances or stressing about catching trains. It's also very close to a Coop, the local buses, and the main shopping areas. The breakfast buffet was another highlight. We enjoyed a delicious and varied spread each morning. The staff was very hospitable. The BEST thing about our experience was the view from our room. We booked the Double Room Comfort Plus with Sitting Corner and Balcony and we were so fortunate to have a stunning view of the Eiger.

This was my third time staying at the Derby Swiss Hotel. It always meets my expections. The hotel is adjacent to the Grindelwald hotel....so convenient for taking train excursions around the Jungfrau area. There are many restaurants and shops within a short walk from the hotel. The rooms are comfortable and the views of the Mountains from the southern facing rooms are spectacular. The breakfast buffet is excellent. We enjoyed our stay at the Derby Swiss Hotel and highly recommend it to other travelers

Super friendly staff, good location.

I am not basing my rating on these minor points but they are worth mentioning. 1. Breakfast is monotonous, absolutely no protein for vegetarians. Very limited options. 2. They must get their parking algorithm fixed. There are only few slots to park right next to the hotel, while there are other slots nearby. I was once asked to park in a particular spot at the hotel, only to be woken up at 23.30 in the night to make way for another car which was driven by people only to dine at the place. This was rude and ruined my next day. I let this go only because the staff here is very sweet and helpful.

Loved the staff and how clean the rooms were! Check in was so easy and our room was so clean. We also had a balcony with the most AMAZING view outside. Grindelwald is beautiful. The location is also unmatched -- we left our room and in TWO MINUTES were inside of the train. The room was a little small but we didn't really need any extra space so I wasn't that bothered by it. It was exactly what we needed. There wasn't any A/C but with the window open even in the middle of August it was NOT an issue at all. The restaurant had delicious food as well! I would highly recommend and would definitely stay here again.

Room facilities great. TV and coffee machine. Small balcony. Comfy beds and extra pillows. Literally right next to the tramline and train station. We were able to drop our luggage here prior to checking in, and they took it to our room. The hotel itself is a little old fashioned, which is charming, but the rooms are spotless and traditional and at the same time brought up to modern standards. Wifi excellent. Would definitely recommend. The breakfast buffet was the best I had in Switzerland during our stay. You even get bacon and eggs!

April 2024 there are ongoing works at the station, but these didn't affect our stay personally. However if you want a lie in then you might not want a room at the front of the hotel! Its a bit of a walk to Grindelwald first station - about 15 minutes uphill, but of course that can be seen as a positive when you are walking downhill on the way back!

The hotel is situated right outside the train station so it was so convenient for me as I was travelling on a day when there was snowfall. Really excellent staff and comfy rooms with all the facilities available. My room had ample heating and a beautiful view of the mountain outside. I couldn’t have asked for a better room. The restaurant was wonderful as well serving an array of breakfast items and meals. I had my first Swiss cheese fondue in there and I would like to thank the waiters for guiding me through it.

The location just perfect near train station. The staff is super friendly they allow check in early coz room was ready . The view from private balcony was amazing. In my balcony I had table with umbrella and sun lounger . Perfect spot to sit in the evening and drink wine with mountains view . Upon check out the hotel staff gave memorable chocolate thanked to the stay

If I would super picky I can mention the smoking guests , coz I sleep with open door I can smell other guests smoking
