It is a very peaceful and quiet place to be. Staff are lovely, everyone is always there to help if needed. Lovely beach just next to accomodation. Decent food in the restaurant but there are also few restaurants along the beach so you get a choice. All issues are swiftly resolved. Bungalows are old but clean and beds comfortable. All with aircon.

Shower had an issue with cold water pressure, hot water was perfect though. Could do with a bigger curtain in bathroom.

Very cozy and lovely hotel that deserves to be called a resort. It gives a full island lifestyle experience, with many different locations around the property to enjoy the ocean view and serenity surrounding you. Wonderful breakfast that will cover anyone's needs with daily fresh fruits available of course. There is an amazing bar at the pool that offers the best cocktails in Zanzibar. But most precious are the people living and working in Moonshine. During our short stay, we had a feeling of living at our family's villa in Uroa. Thank you very much Shuni, Davido and Danilo for this unforgettable experience!

We only came for one night, but we liked the place so much that we stayed for a total of eight days and it would have been more, but the vacation ended. Very friendly staff. Helpful staff in cleaning and room service, restaurant and bar.

From the hotel, restaurant and bar side, everything was super good. It was just unpleasant to watch the rude customers. Some let their children throw their food. Some demanded that the restaurant staff bring the food to their table. Even though it was a buffet, so to said swedish table. If you want to be gentlemen and ladies, don't act so rude. The service and food were good in the restaurant, but the other customers the mood with their rude behavior. Pleas be polite with staff! It was a very nice vacation provided by the hotel staff. All the best to hotell and restaurant staff. And special greetings to the little boy Joshua.

Friendly host and personel - relaxed atmosphare - wonderfull location.

There was some weekness in the facilities. For an examble very few furnitures in the house.... the showers spayed water out in the room instead of on you and the kitchenette did really need a renovating. The food was ok in the restaurant, but we waited to long for it. Par examble . ordered at 19.00 and agreed of serving at 20. The pizzas came at 20. 20 and was cold and the rest was served at 20.45. Thats is not good enough. The hotel has great potential, especiually if the get " a hold" on the things mentioned

The hotel was more than great, even though the expectations were high it was better than expected. The owner Danilo and the staff were brlliant, taking care of us at all times. The hotel is by the beach, it means the hotel has direct access to the beach and on top of that it is equípped with swimming pool. The place is great to enjoy the beach, the hotel itself since you have everything what you need and they all help to make you feel in paradise. Thank you guys, we felt at home.

The location is ideal for a couples get away. There is a lovely private beach just a few meters from the property. Rooms were clean and worth every penny spent! The owner was great, always there to listen and resolve any problems. Kuddos to Paul for a lovely welcome !

The restaurant does require a lot of work food wise. If that is sorted, 5 stars from us. The breakfast was always lovely though but all the other meals need a lot of work!

Moonshine is a gem, an amazing value with everything we wanted. Our friends' cabana was RIGHT on the Indian Ocean and ours was steps away. The staff was lovely and really seemed to care about our enjoyment and comfort. Due to renovation, the restaurant was closed. But the staff set up a table poolside where we enjoyed several delicious meals, an awesome sunset and later the famous moonshine on the water. since we don't speak Swahili, the manager helped us negotiate over the phone for a snorkeling excursion, which allowed us to save money and get the service we wanted. We were two older couples, but we recommend this location for families or anyone on a budget who wants to relax.

The staff are amazing - especially Shuna at the front office. We arrived early and she was welcoming, gave us a room and was generally brilliant. She made us feel very welcome. Loved the Sea front- the beach is exquisite - I loved the lounging chairs by the pool too,

Breakfast was measured up eg English breakfast did not have bacon and baked beans was a spoonful / it may help to offer eg fruit when an item is missing.

We liked the room very much, the bed was very comfortable, the staff always cleaned and changed the sheets. They always changed our towels and they were friendly. We liked the breakfast because we had fresh fruits, eggs and pancakes, but maybe it could be more rich. For me it was perfect, but for the boys it could have some ham, cheese. The food in general could be better. We liked we were able to stay at the pool late in the night and we had a good time there. The location is perfect because it s not very far from airport and the beach is very beautiful. We felt safe and we liked the nature around the property very much. And also the houses because it s not very modern, it fits the nature perfectly.

For us it was ok the part with the food because we ate just the breakfast and then we were in excursions all day or at the beach. But for the people who wants to stay just at the hotel, the food could be improved a little bit.

The reception was great and were received with a mixture of fruit juice to. From the manager to the stuff all were on top of things. This was the best service we received on the whole trip of 5 places that we stayed in. We arrived early but the manager and stuff were prepared. Since someone cancelled their room we were upgraded to the ocean view for free and this was fantastic especially in the evening where one would just lay on the front porch, enjoy the breeze and listen to the sound of the ocean. Our bags were moved to the room and after the transaction we followed. The room was cool from aircon and had a fan too. The bed is extra wide and comfortable. There was a welcome coffee, tea, milk and sugar on the table and everything was clean. The bathroom was clean too and the shower was nicely separated and not the same as other places we have been. There was a welcome soap and shampoo. I enjoyed the lounger chairs right on the porch every evening watching the sea as it is right on the door step. The area is safe and quite, even at night we could walk on the beach. For hot days you can use the pool, be careful as it is deep. There are locals along the beach who organize tours / activities. There are few establishments with restaurants around and the lodge also run their own restaurant and bar with friendly stuff to serve. The package included breakfast too which had variety, from fruits, pancakes, eggs, etc., though just not the kind that I enjoyed (Personal preference). Having said that I enjoyed their Spanish omelette. One last thing I almost forgot, the stuff would come in the evening and spray to avoid mosquito bites, though the bed has a mosquito net. This is a place to come relax, enjoy peace and admire God's creation, before you head off home.

I didn't enjoy much of the breakfast except the Spanish omelette. This is a personal preference as I'm used to a certain type of breakfast. This is not unique to this facility but to the the whole trip.
