It was a lot better than we expected fot this price, the stuff was really nice and welcoming we even got to choose which room we prefer. The room was big and has everything you need. Shower was working better than in most other apartments in Zanzibar and the water was super hot I even had to turn off the switch to get some cold water. Ceiling fan was working very well and it was nice and cool in the room.

It’s a bit older and has mold on some of the walls.

I recently stayed for one night at Kalele Square in Zanzibar and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is beautifully designed, combining modern comfort with traditional Zanzibari charm. The location is perfect, right in the heart of Zanzibar, making it easy to explore local attractions. The room was spacious, clean, and well-equipped with all the essentials needed for a comfortable stay. What truly made my visit special was the exceptional service provided by Junior, the receptionist. He was incredibly friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure my stay was perfect. Junior is the best receptionist I’ve ever met. Highly recommended!

Kelele truly exceeded my expectations! I had only planned to stay for one night but ended up extending because I felt so comfortable and at home. Daisy and Richard were incredibly warm and welcoming, making my stay even more special. The atmosphere was cozy, the service outstanding, and I will definitely be returning. I highly recommend Kelele to anyone visiting Stone Town—it’s an experience you won’t regret.

Dullah and the girls were great - staff was 10/10. Living so centrally in historic Stonetown also was an incredible experience. Thanks to the people who helped me during my stay.

The place needs some love! It's an incredible building - I just wish the owner would work on the many things that need attention. Not the staff's fault at all - the owners need to do more.

Very friendly staff, abit of language barrier but they were very very kind and nice to us, they cleaned our room every day when we went out. And it’s located in stone town so you save yourself transport for moving around stone town.

Facilities were abit old and had mould on them, and you know that comes with abit of a scent but above all we managed meaning it’s not that bad.

This is our 6th time to stay here! Junior and Shadya always give us a great welcome and are so helpful. Affordable, centrally located, near a beach, lively bars just atound the corner, 10 minutes walk to the night market and the same distance again to the ferry.

Needs some renovation! Poor WiFi, but I didn't come back to Zanzibar for the WiFi, 😆

The service were incredible and the location is just 5 minutes walk to the forodhani market and the boats to Prison island. A very big thank you to Junior the receptionist who welcomed us warmly and helped us throughout our stay and even went an extra mile of finding us transportation. We will definitely come back on our next visit.

What a fantastic stay at Kelele Square! The seamless internet connection made it easy to stay connected, the hot water was a godsend, and the staff went above and beyond to ensure my stay was comfortable. Their support made all the difference

Kelele Square is a beachside haven with everything you need nearby. Its prime location and excellent services made for a memorable stay.

The breakfast consisted of a selection of sliced fruit, tea/coffee, eggs, toast and jam. There was a lovely scent of cinnamon oil through the building giving the environment a pleasant smell. The staff were very helpful and Mohammed went out of his way to assist me. The location is perfect for access to sights and markets. The room was comfortable with a fan and A/C and the bathroom was good. The area was quiet which is a big plus.

More jam for toast would be good. Also cereal and liquid milk would be a good extra. My room was not ready upon my arrival at 4pm. I had to wait while the staff were getting it ready.

Excellent value for your dollars. That is, you get a lot for such a small price. Clean place, very friendly staff, decent room, unbeatable location. Our room even had a fridge, a large TV, separate shower and toilet (not common, much appreciated). Of course the room is not high standard, tiny even claustrophobic, all equipment very basic. Perfect for solo independent travellers or backpacker couples who just want a place to sleep for a couple of nights.
