Our recent stay at Kisiwa Hotel was truly exceptional. The location is simply excellent. Nestled perfectly, it offered us convenient access to everything we wished to explore. The rooms themselves are a delight. They are not just nicely furnished but also comfortable and elegant. We must extend a special, heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Chenda. Her dedication and assistance were truly remarkable. She went far beyond her mandate, tirelessly helping us with all our overall logistics during our stay, making what could have been complex arrangements incredibly smooth and stress-free. Her exceptional support made a significant positive impact on our entire trip.

The property is located in the middle of Stone Town with a variety of restaurants, historial sites, cafes, shops, pubs and massage parlours all within easy walking distance. The hotel doesn't have it's own gym but there's one opposite. While it is beautifully decorated and well maintained, our wonderful time at the property was genuinely thanks to all the helpful and cheerful staff, and especially the manager Mr Frank who really went out of his way to ensure we were comfortable. Would happily return and recommend.
There's no swimming pool, which would be great after a long day of walking

very big room, and large bed (but a common problem with bigger than normal beds is the need of even bigger sheets - which seem to be forgotten about quite often). aircon was better than most (quite quiet), large well equipped bathroom. (rm9) The staff were very friendly and helpful with any issues raised. Immaculately clean.
First thing asked on arrival was about value added extras they could provide... not very subtle... Immediate surroundings are in state of repair, and narrow alleys which could be a little disconcerting to some at night. Stairs are quite steep and not totally consistent in size so you have to watch your step - that said they are quite wide and they offer to carry your bags up and down to your room.

Absolutely loved my stay at this hotel! The service was impeccable and so impressive. The hotel manager Franktiba was in contact from the time I booked and got my details upfront to ensure check in was fast. He made sure he offered transport and site seeing options. Upon checkin the welcome was so warm and great. Staff at reception and throughout the property were so friendly and attentive. The room was beautiful - I loved the furnishing, big shower, powerful AC and fans. The location is so central was perfect!
Breakfast was quite basic but it was fresh

It was extremely clean, beautiful Zanzibari furniture and beautiful views from the rooftop restaurant. The best best best thing were the staff. Genuine warm smiles and amazing service. I arrived at 1AM, could expect grumpy or sleepy faces but they so warmly received me, introduced me to the amenities and showed me to my room for a very very comfortable sleep in a beautiful cool room. Breakfast was very fresh and yummy. I really loved the a la carte breakfast, just feels so much more personal than buffet. Loved it.
My room didn’t have a great view.

Beautiful hotel in the centre of Stone Town. Rooms were very comfortable and clean. Extremely friendly and helpful staff who helped to organise tours and ensured we had everything we needed for a great stay!
The hot water did run out quite quickly and wasn't enough for 2 showers in a row.

This place is as described. Staff is good. Room is clean. Bathroom and shower were really good. Close to the beach. This is a 183 year old house which is remodeled. Ambience is great. Food is delicious.
This place offers two small bottles of water for brushing but did not offer water for drinking. At 9:30 pm when asked for drinking water, they said the cafeteria is closed and asked us to get water from nearby store. At the outside store, the water is 50c, but since we didn’t have enough cash we couldn’t get the water. In the morning when we asked for water, they told us to get it from the restaurant above. I felt little off, as this place is a hotel and not an airbnb, should be able to offer 24/7 drinking water and it would have been nice if they got the water from the restaurant instead of asking us to go get it. At the end they charged us 3$ for water bottle, which is only 50c outside. I highly recommend getting water from outside store.

The room was immaculate, the people were amazing, the breakfast was top notch!! Frank, the resident manager, was super nice as was everyone else. They let us keep our luggage there when we went out to explore as well so that was helpful. The location couldn’t be any better! When my boyfriend wasn’t feeling well they let us have a late check out and gave us some tea… I was very thankful for that! Asante sana!
The only thing that bothered me a bit was at 5 in the morning on the last day I was there, I heard people talking on the floor of my room so it woke me up but it wasn’t for too long. Also the room didn’t have a lot of lighting at night, but it was a really nice room and good value in regards to American standards.

We had a wonderful stay at Kisiwa House! It’s ideally located within walking distance of key attractions in Stonetown. Our room was very clean and well-maintained. The staff, especially Franktiba (the manager) and Mohammed (the housekeeper), were incredibly helpful and friendly. They went above and beyond to accommodate our needs and ensure we had a comfortable and enjoyable experience. We also enjoyed the tour and fascinating history of the hotel from Mr. Franktiba. I highly recommend Kisiwa House.

The bathroom is really clean, spacious and nice. The staff is also very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant where we eat breakfast and the quality of the food are also excellent.
The room I stayed in was the cheapest. That's why all the windows were blocked, so it was stuffy. I don't think the hotel is responsible for the noise from outside. And since it was a room next to the stairs, it was noisy when other guests passed by, but I don't think that can be helped. However, the refrigerator was so noisy that we had to turn it off. Lastly, although there's not much to see, the TV is not in good condition. I think the more expensive rooms would be better.
