We had an amazing 3 night stay at this unusual hotel in an incredible location. We booked a room with an outdoor bath , the square one. It was overlooking the river and mountains and very private. Our host kindly booked a half day elephant experience down the road and a full day in the lake which we thought were spectacular. Mon is a great communicator and did anything you asked and the team were very helpful and lovely.. a perfect retreat in the national park. Would also recommend the walk over the road if feeling up for a hike up the mountain as can be a challenge.

No real negatives. The Transport isn't easy without a scooter or car but easily arranged by Mon. One odd thing in the area is the restaurants close early so you have to pre-order any food for dinner but another quirk which works efficiently and the food is great.

The homie feeling, the staff's dedication to you having a good stay: they remember your preferences, welcome you back from your tours, make small talk, they give you tips and explain every activity you might want to do very well. Overall, the service was exceptional. The room was beautiful, clean with a gorgeous view. It had all the amenities you would need, in the middle of the jungle. Due to disturbances, we were kindly upgraded to a similar room on the other side of the property.

The only downside is the restaurant stops the orders at 5pm, even though you can be served later on at 7pm. It means you need to know in advance what you might want for dinner.

The setting was very peaceful and only a short drive to Khao Sok National park in one direction and half an hour's drive to Cheowan Lan Lake in the other direction. The rooms, whilst a little sparse and basic were a good size with a wonderfully large balcony in the front overlooking the river. The beds were really comfortable (the best we've had in Thailand after two months of travelling). Robes were provided and the towels were excellent. Big shout out to Mon, who organised a great lake day out for us, and gave us some excellent recommendations for a day out under our own steam for the following day. He also helped us sort out a transport issue when our taxi didn't turn up to take us to our next destination. All of the staff were just lovely. A very good complimentary breakfast was served daily.

You had to pre order dinner before 5.00pm every day. On the face of it, a good idea, but it didn't suit us particularly. Balcony chairs were rather grubby - a good old scrub would do them the world of good. A little 'softening' of the rooms would make a huge difference to the aesthetics

We loved our stay at Phu Siab Mhok. It was the perfect sweetspot between living in harmony with nature, while enjoying the amenities of modern hotels. Our Accomodation was simple, but nice and clean and offered a spectacular view on the nearby river. We even saw some otters and enjoyed the jungle sounds from our balcony.  The hotel owners and staff we're really friendly and incredibly helpfull. They will help you with booking activities in Khao Sok or with booking your onward journey. We did a guided boat tour through the Khao Sok Nationalpark and it was nothing but spectacular.  The best thing was obviously the area in which Phu Siab Mhok is located. It lays directly between two National Parks - the Khao Sok Nationalpark and the Khlong National Park, which is even in walking distance.  We whished to have stayed longer and we enjoyed every second of our stay. We hope to come back some time in the future.

Phu Siab Mhok @ Khao Sok is a hidden gem run by a kind and attentive family who go above and beyond to make your stay special. The stunning views of the mountains and rivers create a serene escape, and the local food, made with fresh ingredients from their garden, is absolutely delicious. The bamboo rafting and sightseeing tours are must-try activities, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Khao Sok. Some accommodations even feature baths with breathtaking views, making relaxation effortless. While the bungalows are simple, the warmth of the hospitality and the overall experience more than make up for it. Highly recommended for those seeking an authentic and peaceful retreat!

Stunning view from our room, great spot one floor above restaurant, where we could eat completely alone and in peace. Long story short - we had our concerns prior selecting the hotel, but we took a bit of a risk and booked it. It’s literally in the center of national park, surrounded by jungle and in the proximity of main transit road. Our concerns were regarding “things to do”, as it’s hard to find in the internet trips to the big reservoir lake or to elephant sanctuary that actually start in the park. The hotel is well equipped in the offer of selected trips and can help choose by explaining all pros and cons. But that’s not its biggest asset. The biggest asset of the hotel is staff, my understanding is that it’s being run by the family. The son is always there to help (same as parents), making the whole experience outstanding. Not to mention the pathway to room or the views from room themselves - these are breathtaking (stunning view on the mountains, great night sky full of stars with observation point from our terrace). We also highly recommend the food, we were lucky to try “Pad Kud” spicy salad, other meals from menu were also delicious and reasonably priced. Highly recommend visiting that place.

The location is Very beautiful especially the view from the room we lived in. The resort is run by family and this family is extremely hard working, caring and looks after their guests with a great smile on their face. The rooms are spacious and extremely clean and tidy. We had food from this resort and it's a very home made food and not like any commercial restaurant.

No shop near walking distance but again this is my personal need and not all guests will like to use shop when they are surrounded by beautiful hills and river.

Over the road from the entrance to the National Park which was very convenient. The staff were attentive and the rooms nice. We went walking in the national park - followed the 'Big Tree' trail. We were a group of 10yr old kids, 70yr old grandparents, and 2 relatively fit adults. There wasnt much to say how tough the walk would be and with just a few kilometers showing on the map we felt it was low risk... so off we went. Soon we realised that this was no regular hike - it was a climb up and around a rocky outcrop. At one moment I thought I'm about to kill my parents, having to make sure I'm holding onto them/pulling them up/holding onto my kids - making sure no one fell down the cliff face! It was not for the feint hearted! It was absolutely beautiful though and I am not sorry we went, but if I knew the terrain ahead of the walk I may not have taken us all up there!

The resort was quite expensive vs other places we stayed in Thailand. We ate in the restaurant one night - don't go for 'Thai Style' because the food was just too hot and had too many chillies. We ate Thai food for 3wks (including the same dishes we had here), and these were overly hot for us vs all the other places we ate at. Breakfasts were good. The hammock/net on the balcony was nice, but very unsafe as there is just one small railing on the edge and if someone were to trip you would fall right off there and two storeys down. I would not recommend staying in the mountain view rooms if you have toddlers.

If you are entering the national park from the Surat Thani train station, the hotel is located at the beginning of it, closer to the train station but further from the downtown strip. The hotel has a natural and welcoming feel to it, and upon arrival, you can enjoy a delicious welcome drink. If you are a foodie, the tasty fried rice is a must-try. One of the hotel's advantages is that they offer motorbike rentals and bamboo rafting tour bookings right at the front desk. The balcony of your room is a special feature that provides a peaceful way to experience nature. You can sit back, relax, and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The hotel's niche is its welcoming atmosphere, which the host and staff have curated, making your stay even more enjoyable.

Motorbike rental was a little expensive.

A perfect location! We loved a bungalow located just by the river. We could enjoy in the evening the sounds of the jungle - birds, frogs and whatnot :) Thanks to mosquito nets in the windows, we could sleep with windows open, which was perfect. Also, the gentleman in the reception desk was super helpful! Some advice: - You can rent a scooter from the hotel - You can get a Grab for your road ahead (just make an advanced booking a day before) - saved us some 2000 Baht on a way to Koh Phangan - You can get a grab to the lake / Khao Sok - The trek just opposite of the hotel is great! (2-3 hours)

smell in the toilet in the evening was not the best, but with the doors closed it was not a problem at all.
