There was my second stay in Retro39. Great location - 100m from bts Phrom Phong. Around the hotel you can find local street food, two 7/11, thai massage. In walking distance 4min you can find shopping mall. I did not be disappointed.

They let us check in at 11pm, seem to always have somebody at reception at all times. Very very friendly (I think) Indian people! 1k deposit returned immediately at check out. Room and bathroom excellent, perfect for the average person sightseeing. Wow at the location, couldn't have done better. 3 min walk from train station, 10 min walk from nightlife on Soi Cowboy. Yes there is a weed shop nextdoor to the entrance yeah (just like the thousands all over Thailand), so if you want a polite family vacation and this upsets you maybe book somewhere 3X the price. But for a couple of younger guys who are still having a laugh in life, it's perfect!!! Definitely planning another stay here asap!

My own fault : I'm scared of heights and balcony is kinda small so you might have to sit on the floor to smoke your cigarettes lol

-Location close to Sukhumvit road -The room was clean and modern -The staff were helpful and spoke good English.

-No window in the room ( I was aware, but no other options were available) -As other reviewers have mentioned, the water in the shower is not warm. It is not cold either, but if you enjoy hot showers, you won't be getting them here -I was told that payment would only be accepted in cash as I was checking out. I thought it would be processed from my card so I had already used all the Thai baht I had. In the end it turned out it was possible to pay by card so I don't know what that was all about -The walls are very thin

Hotel does not serve breakfast. There are a lot of places for get meal around hotel. Great location - BTS station is in 2min by walking. 7/11 on the next side of the street.

Low price. The comfortable bed and good bathroom, specially the shower and hot and cold water with right pressure. Convenient location that was close to BTS and food outlets. The staff were good.

The window that was facing the street didn’t have sound proofing. In the evening the noise coming from the streets was unbearable. This is the main complaint I have. Other problem was that there was no access to the balcony and door permanently locked.

Relatively quiet considering it's so close to Sukhumvit road and BTS. I've lived in the budget rooms that have no windows which blocks out most noise from the street. I've lived there twice and never had any problems with noisy guests or anything. I feel very safe in this hotel. I like to book a few nights here when I arrive to Thailand as it's close to the BTS, and will probably come back to it later.

The shower stall could need a good cleaning, though it wasn't so bad I felt it needed complaining over. A female guest might find that an issue.

I wanted a comfortable place to sleep walking distance to a BTS (metro) station. Retro39 is just a few steps away from Phrom Phong BTS station. No breakfast option is what I booked. Anyway, it's not like the hotel has a dining area either. Not an issue as there were enough and more eateries nearby -- both inexpensive and high end. Luxury mall Emquartier is also just a few steps away. Over all, an excellent location. As for the room, I requested a room with good enough sunlight and I got that with room 501. The amenities were basic but all worked. Cleanliness was good and the room didn't feel that old nor that new.

It wasn't the most quietest as tuk tuk noises could still be heard even with the balcony door closed. Maybe that's more to do with the proximity of the hotel to the main road. Fortunately the bed is comfortable enough for a good night's rest. But one thing I did not like about the bed was that you cannot sit upright with your back against the head rest/wall. The mattress is on wheels and so your back will easily push the bed forward. Quite annoying if you want to work on your laptop while sitting on the bed or watch TV while lying back.

The highlight of the hotel is the location. Easy access to BTS. There's a restaurant, 7-11 and massage parlor nearby. Reception was attentive and available all the time.

Our room has no windows and you can hear people talking, walking and even showering. Luckily, during our stay the guest next to our room is considerate.

The station is very close to the Phrom Phong BTS, which allows for you to wake up and start your journey very simply, it's also close Asok, Nana and is fairly central which was amazing. It was the cheapest hotel in the area and thus very satisfactory for me. The staff is friendly and I believe all of the employees can speak and understand basic English to say the least, very polite and nice people. It's ideal if you wanna save money and all you wanna do is sleep anyways! 😄

The bed was a bit hard, personally, I prefer softer beds and in the two that I had I could feel the coils inside of the matras... which was bothersome while trying to sleep. I was also placed on the 7nd floor, which made me have to take the elevator to floor 6 and then take the steps, not preferable, however, once I asked if I could switch rooms and they said the next day I could switch. So avoid floor 7 when you can! 😋
