We generally stay in smaller boutique hotels but really wanted the pool that Nak Nakara provided. It didn't end up feeling like a big hotel anyway. The bed was so comfy, the staff really nice and I like the variety that was offered in the breakfast buffet. They also provide a few free drinks in the mini fridge and snacks. At the bar in the lobby there is a larger fridge with unlimited complimentary water and some fruits which is a first in our 9 month journey so far through Asia.

The only negative was the really bad/slow wifi. It was painful how slow it was. We even worked in the lobby for a couple of hours hoping it would be stronger but no such luck. Having access to good wifi is so important for travelers these days so hopefully they can upgrade that a bit.

Staff at this hotel are awesome, nothing is too much trouble, always smiling and helpful. We upgraded our room to the suite which was a lot bigger with a sitting area. Breakfast menu changed every day during our 6 night stay and was delicious with many choices. Gf pancakes made on request. The pool area was very popular as a lot of families use this hotel. Very close (10 minute walk) to Walking street markets on Saturday afternoon. So many eating places within a 10 minute walk. Great massages available right next door.

Can’t think of one thing as we really loved this experience.

Good sized room, comfortable bed, excellent staff. We really enjoyed our stay. Location was good, reasonably central, plenty to see and do and some restaurants close by. We were able to walk to the night markets, though the foot paths and roads weren’t in the greatest condition…not the Hotels fault of course! you’d have no problems getting a Grab. Pool was in good condition, well looked after and the poolside snacks and cocktails were also welcome. Pool towels, water and fruit provided, which was a nice touch. Would we stay again…yes! Thanks for a great intro to Chiang Rai.

Nothing springs to mind.

Loved the charming details in our room which was comfortable and equipped with a sensible sized fridge, which meant ample space for our fruits and drinks and other Thai delicacies. This was especially true when we were there on the weekend and the night market just round the corner! We enjoyed the tour organized by the hotel where we could pick four attractions in Chiangrai....it was a whole day's trip in a SUV and very pleasant driver - good value! When we were there renovations had started in the next block but luckily there was little noise until the day we checked out. Because of our schedule and it being the rainy season we did not get to try the pool but unlike some hotels it was opened till 9 pm.

Well maintained hotel, with very spacious rooms. Bed linens and towels are of good quality and crispy clean. The room and bathroom are clean too, of course. The staff speaks good English and is super helpful. Our luggage was brought up two flight of stairs very swiftly after check-in. The swimming pool is nice and stays open until late. Breakfast is good, though I missed a wider choice of cereals and granola. The premises are beautiful, with a very well kept garden and plants everywhere. It's only a 15 minutes walk to the city clock, which is kind of a focal point in the city center. Free parking right in front of the hotel

The bed is a bit soft. The airco points to the bed. There's no view from the room. The facility might be a bit dated, but it's ageing gracefully as it is well kept.

This is a really lovely hotel with great facilities. It's beautifully designed. My room was well set up and very comfortable. I opted for the room with the bathtub and it was well worth paying a little extra for. The pool is great, there is a fitness centre which is basic but nice and I enjoyed using it. The staff were very nice and helpful, and there are lots of thoughtful touches - complimentary mini bar with a few basics, as much bottled water as you want, some fresh fruit, umbrellas in the event of rain, books in the bar area, etc. You can book a driver through reception to take you around some of the main sights nearby, though I opted not to do that. You can borrow bicycles too. Really happy with my choice of this hotel.

There was very little to dislike. There was construction going on on site during my stay, so that made it a little less peaceful during the day. Also, the timing of when housekeeping were coming by was very inconsistent - on my first morning they arrived at 9:30am or so, which is far too early in my book. On the second morning I left to go sightseeing and came back at 1pm and they still hadn't been and then showed up shortly after I got back. This is very minor and not a big problem, was just a little inconvenient. But really, it was a great stay and there was very little to dislike like I say.

The best thing of the hotel is the people! So nice and always with a smile making sure you are having a great time. The room really comfortable and clean, complimentary water, tea and fruit are a great plus. Breakfast was great with a lot of options that changed every day. Location is good! Away from all the noice but close to the bazar and shops. Right there at the hotel we rented a motorcycle and hired a car with driver for a one day tour, both were great experiences and the people in the reception really make everything easy for you.

Very helpful staff, felt very welcome at the hotel, mainly European guests so generally quiet and no disturbances, awesome breakfast and 2 coffee machines was appreciated. Pool was perfect refreshing temperature at this time of year as it was getting warm. Lots of loungers and guests were respectful not to "claim" or hog them with towels. The complimentary water and snacks in the lobby was amazing - never seen that before. Being given a little going away snack at checkout was a nice surprise. We took the free hotel bicycles and rode to the Blue Temple - that is highly recommended and when you get there buy a fresh herbal juice from the sweet old lady inside the entrance. The rosehip juice is not too sweet if you want to avoid sugar.

Wifi was not secure - should be better security and not basic connection. No other complaints really - this was the best value hotel for us during month long trip to Thailand. Oh the White Temple in Chiang Rai is not worth visiting. It's just a tourist trap and there's no monks using the temple. Just a social media photo opportunity.

The common areas were very clean and there was complimentary chilled water and fruit readily available. My room was spacious, comfortable, clean and had decent AC. Breakfast choices were excellent and restaurant staff very obliging. The hotel is in a quiet area, which is great, but it was a bit daunting at first walking in a couple of quiet dark streets to get into the centre of town. However, with the help of the torch provided, it turned out just fine.

Staff in reception were not forthcoming about local transport and things to do in the area (apart from the obvious tourist attractions), they seemed much more interested in selling me a tour for 4 people, which is inappropriate for a solo traveller. Thank goodness they had good wifi to access Bolt and Grab!

From the moment we were greeted with a refreshing welcome drink, to the moment we said goodbye and were handed some tasty rice crackers for our onward journey, our stay at Nak Nakara has so far on a our trip around Thailand been the best, by some way! At checkin the receptionist gave us a map of the local area, his personal favourite restaurant recommendations (we went with them, and they were indeed great local haunts), and overall just more helpful than we’ve ever experienced, he came across very genuine about us wanting to enjoy your stay. Our room was beautifully decorated and immaculately clean. The entire property come to think of it was immaculate. Unsurprising given the attention to detail the cleaning team and all members of staff pay. The pool was spacious and clean; with sun loungers very comfortable and pool towels provided. The breakfast selection was so wide and varied throughout our stay, if that is all we ate during our stay I still would have been satisfied; fresh fruits, cereals, Thai dishes, pastries, Western dishes, a proper cappuccino, and egg station. They really do cater for everyone. WiFi in our room was strong enough to stream Netflix on there smart TV. As mentioned hats off to all the staff; everyone we came into contact with was genuinely friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay there and have already recommended the hotel to fellow travellers. Huge thanks!

The only room for improvement I can think of would be to provide fresh orange juice as opposed to the ones loaded with sugar. It would also be good to see any marketing materials showing the riding of elephant’s removed, in addition to any material promoting the riding of elephant’s.
