Our stay at AJWA Sultanahmet was truly exceptional! From the moment we stepped inside, we were captivated by the spacious and stunning interiors, which perfectly reflect the elegance and richness of Turkish culture. Every detail, from the beautifully crafted furniture to the warm ambiance, made us feel like we had stepped into a luxurious Ottoman palace. One of the biggest highlights of our stay was the amazing staff. They were always attentive, kind, and incredibly professional, ensuring that every moment of our visit was perfect. A special thank you to them for making my mother’s birthday unforgettable—not once, but three times they surprised her with a delicious cake and candles, making her feel truly special throughout our stay. Their kindness and attention to detail made all the difference! Another huge plus is the hotel's location—absolutely perfect if you want to explore the best of Istanbul's historic sites. Being in the heart of Sultanahmet, we were just a short walk away from Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, and the Grand Bazaar.

The dishes in the restaurant were not quite to my taste.

The hotel is located in great position not far from the UNESCO sites and lots of restaurants nearby and the hotel shuttle bus was a great advantage as it dropped you off if required. Reception staff and concierge service was very good and we felt well looked after and that people cared about us and wanted to look after us and made us feel very welcome. Breakfast was good and again the staff serving were always cheerful and attentive. They helped us organise trips and an early morning ride to the airport. The room was very clean and well serviced a call to reception sorted out any little queries that we had. Pool area although not large was lovely and a good addition to help relax after a day’s site seeing!

Although adequate the hot food at breakfast time was not always hot. An order for eggs or other items can be made and they were always fresh and hot. A good selection offered and staff were helpful and attentive, in particular Ezra who always greeted us with a warm welcome and a smile!

Location, atmosphere, traditional design, the quiet and the very kind and helpful staff particularly the Bell team who were super helpful and kind and the staff running the breakfast room. Everyone made us feel very welcome and spoiled. We also appreciated the good mattresses, pillow menu, the restaurant on the top floor which was great and the spa. We like that this hotel does not serve alcohol, not because we mind alcohol so much but because it attracts a calmer clientele and there are no noisy groups or ‘influencers’ taking selfies everywhere.

Our ‘family’ room was quite dark ( this we knew in advance from the way it was advertised so no problem) but - in having to have lights on all the time - you start to get annoyed by how harsh the bright white light from all the lamps were, even the bedside lamps. It’s either dark or operating theatre level starkness. Some low level ‘ambiance’ lights would be pleasant. Not being able to go for a visit to the steam room and have a quick swim with both my children in the afternoon due to the rules about separation of sexes was a pity (we have a boy 12 and girl 9).

A wonderful hotel with a real Turkish and very nice interior. The location is perfect to visit the high lights of Istanbul. We had an unforgettable stay thanks to the warm, welcoming team. All the employees did their utmost to make our stay very special and to make us feel very special. They were extremely helpful and all our requests fulfilled within minutes. Breakfast was great. Bedlinens and towels super quality. Airconditioning works very well and very silent. Mini bar is really cold. Rooms have lots of closet space and a beautifully tiled bathroom. On top of everything they surprised us with a birthday cake with candles upon arrival since one of us had her birthday. I can highly recommend this hotel.

We had a family room for 3 persons. the room was spacious but there is no day light since the window opened into a light shaft. Although it is well decorated with a vertical garden, you are not able to see this well and there is no fresh air.

Location; architecture, furnishings; character; atmosphere; tranquility; care; cleanliness; maintenance; comfort; preparation, availability and courtesy of the staff; times, quality and variety of breakfast are all of an excellent level: I would say real five stars. The offer of extra services is also up to par, even if in our opinion their proposal by the staff is sometimes excessively pushy, which can generate a certain discomfort. We are aware that this is in the style and local character, but from a five-star hotel we expect a little more discretion and tact. In any case, it is a flaw that does not significantly affect the quality and level of hospitality and experience. The offer of the SPA and Hammam is rich and varied, but we did not use them, also due to the division of access for men and women (traditional and widespread in Turkey and clearly highlighted on the website and during the booking phase) and the scarcity and inconvenience of the time slots for private access for couples. We understand and respect local customs without reservations, but for us it was a shame and a limitation, even though we were informed about it. Thank you very much for our charming and pleasant stay in the splendid Gateway to the East.

Our most heartfelt request concerns the restaurant: of reasonable quality but to be improved to align it with that of the Hotel and the city's offerings of the same level.

This is by far the best hotel my wife and I have stayed in so far. we spent over one week there during our first visit to Istanbul and were genuinely impressed by the high quality and the comfort of the rooms. Guests had the free use gym, sauna, steam room and swimming pool. The professional conduct of staff was clearly present . They were always courteous and did not hesitate to offer a helping hand if needed. The buffet breakfast offered was extensive and I would recommend opting for this when making a booking. The sea view from the dining room was a delight.

This is a gorgeous hotel....everything is well-decorated from the exterior to the lobby to the rooms and the top-floor restaurant. It makes you 'feel' as though you've entered a different culture / region (if you're from outside the region). The views from the restaurant were great and the food was excellent. The location in relation to central landmarks is excellent with Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque reachable inside 15 minutes. However, the hotel area is very hilly and could be challenging for older or less mobile guests.

A lovely building with well furnished rooms and classic decor. The rooms are well stocked with everything you need as well as bathrobes and slippers. The lobby is also inviting with authentic looking chairs and concierge staff available for any queries. They also have a lovely restaurant upstairs with a great view of the city and spa facilities downstairs if you fancy some treatments. The location is brilliant and within good walking distance of restaurants and some of Istanbul’s main attractions. The staff are extremely attentive and make you feel very special. The Bell Captain and his team were especially helpful to us and ensured we received the best possible service whilst staying at this lovely hotel. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would absolutely stay there again!!

Not the hotel- but just be wary that everywhere you go , someone is trying to sell you something. Don’t be pushed into buying things you do not want or need.
