Mattresses where very comfortable

Option to pay on the day wasn't true as money needed to be paid a few days before arrival..I understand why they do this but don't pretend to be pay on the day when it's not true...I muss say this hotel/hostel would of been 10/10 if not for the false pay on the day stuff..the owner is a nice guy and I don't want to say anything negative and I understand why it's pay before the stay but it's false advertising.. but I feel this review could help with the improvement in future scenario's

It’s great value for money especially when you look. At prices more in the city the staff who worked there he was amazing really friendly made us feel welcome Really nice cosy feel about the place Will be back

Think for the price it’s exactly what you pay for the staff was great and the room was great Maybe just tv didn’t work at times but that’s more to do with the aerial but other than that everything was clean and perfect

Great staff this hotel has Newcastle themed walls black with white stripes with the badge and you have Arsenal memorobillia... a nice surprise to see gooners with Geordie accents and what a touch I chose this hotel. They welcomed me in and the venue was great and the bar even better and the pints were cheap :) If I return to Newcastle I will be staying here again :)

We chose this hotel as it is conveniently located just outside the city centre with good transport links into town, needed for our visit to Hoppings 2023, rumoured to be the largest fair attraction in Europe. You are advised to take along Identification for clarification of your booking to eliminate fraud. The staff member was excellent and helped in every way possible. Also there is a £10 key deposit which is returned on departure. The hotel itself offers beers and soft drinks at a good price in addition to unlimited free hot drinks as there are no kettles in the rooms.. a major plus is that there is also a microwave oven available should you wish to reheat your previous nights left overs. Entertainment is in the form of a pool table,(£1 per game), and sky channels available in the communal lounge. Additionally there are a number of food outlets within a five minute walk. Highly recommended is the Chinese takeaway. Competitively priced considering they give you extra large portions. I’ll definitely be back next year for Hoppings 2024.

Everyone has different standards and expectations of a hotel, there were one or two things that didn’t live up-to those standards but consider that you’ll be staying here a for one or two nights and not an entire 7-10 holiday period and you’re quids in.

The hotel was clean, tidy and quiet. It's only a short walk to the City centre, and there are plenty of buses go past into the centre if you don't want to walk . There's a nice bar , a lounge with a pool table and large telly . The bed was exceptionally comfortable. John, the owner, is very friendly and can't do enough for you. I enjoyed my stay, and will certainly stay again.

There was nothing I didn't like.

Staff were so friendly. Great value for money. The room was very clean and just what we needed for a night away. There was also a fully stocked bar with alcoholic and soft drinks including tea and coffee.

Only downside is one of the lights in the room wasn’t working but if we were there for longer could be a slight issue. Would’ve liked a few more mirrors if we were staying for longer.

No parking and not clear where you can or can't park near the hotel No where says about you have to pay £10 when checking in this is incase you lose your key but you do get that back when checking out No kettle or anything in the room - would have been nice if there was - only free tea and coffee downstairs in the reception area Not allowed to bring any food or drink in - you have to buy everything at the hotel - which is fine but only was told when we checked in

Friendly receptionist, reasonable distance from the city centre, relatively quiet indoors, cosy bar area with tea and coffee making facilities, though because we only stayed one night, we did not take advantage of these.

Room overheated and no way to regulate the temperature of the room as the radiator taps were removed, similar to what other guests reported. We ended up sleeping with the window opened, which is a shame, not just energy efficiency wise, but also meant one of us (the one without earplugs) did not get as good sleep as we could have got, because of early morning street noise.

Loved the host John. He couldn’t have been more helpful. I felt safe knowing he was downstairs looking after things. Really clean everywhere. We only paid £47 a night you couldn’t ask for more for this money and I was particularly impressed with a couple of complementary toiletries in the room as you wouldn’t expect this and tea/coffee downstairs in the bar to help yourself to again not expected. We paid £7.20 in a taxi back but it was in the middle of the night (to avoid walking uphill). Newcastle city centre is a 10 minute walk there (down hill) but took more like 25 minutes to get the Grey Street from the hotel. We would stay again.

The staff here are great, very friendly and informative. Our room was clean and had an ensuite which was also clean. Location is fine and allows for street parking which is handy. It's only a 20 minute walk from town which is also very handy.

The walls are quite thin so you can hear people coming and going. Wasn't an issue for us but if you wanted a good night sleep you might not like this. Also have to say this isn't the hotels fault but the behaviour of other guests, so I guess it depends who is staying there.
