The room was amazing, we loved that you could sit outside/around by the roaring fire with blankets and drinks. The separate lounge with a large pool table was great too. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was very nice, I have to eat gluten free food and there were nice options 🙂 Had the vegetarian breakfast as the sausages and black pudding are not gluten free and I don't like streaky bacon. It was lovely. Lovely big duck pond and deer enclosure at the front of the property

There really isn't very much to put here thankfully. The lighting in the room especially in the bathroom is dark. The pillows are too soft ( but that's obviously a personal choice)

Lovely big rooms and very comfortable. The inn itself was lovely as were the gardens where we had lunch. Dinner was good and reasonably priced. The beef cooked on the fire was delicious. The staff were very pleasant. Breakfasts were good with a decent choice

Not a ‘dislike’ but the lunch menu was a bit disappointing because there were only starters and mains - no sandwiches. I’ve seen this elsewhere so maybe it’s a trend but often at lunch time, especially if you’ll be walking afterwards, a sandwich is what’s required. The good we had was lovely but we all just had starters.

Spacious room (called Jack Russell!) - very attractively furnished, big shower room. Excellent in room tea/coffee facilities, fresh milk provided daily. Staff very welcoming and helpful - we stayed during a heatwave - there was already a fan in the room and then they provided another one upon request as a medical condition I have is exacerbated by heat. Beautiful garden. Generous breakfast with plenty of choice. Restaurant meals were superb. Whole palce is situated in the middle of nowhere so very peaceful. Our room looked out towards the field the other side of the vey quiet road which had deer in it.

If we could could have anything we wanted it would be air conditioning in the room but that is being very picky!

This is a hidden gem! Beautiful boutique hotel with a cute dog theme. Each space in this historic building has been beautifully decorated. There are loads of nice extra touches; gifts for your dog along with a Polaroid camera to take pictures for the pet guest book, a beautiful outdoor covered fire lounge area, well maintained gardens. The dining and indoor spaces are lovely. Very good breakfast. The rooms are spacious, comfortable beds, bathrooms are gorgeous with high end soaps and products. There is a great selection of teas. Wish we could have stayed longer!!

It was out of the way, down a bunch of secondary roads but worth it!

How long is this list going to be :) The room was fabulous (stayed in Dotti) for 3 nights in total. Room was lovely and a good size for both of us and Willow (our staffie) Well kitted out and if you need anything, just ask the staff, who were more than happy to assist. (Even down to the ice I needed, so Willow could eat it, and have it in her water, as it was nearly 30 degrees!!) The Dog House courtyard is a fantastic chill out zone, with lovely wooden seating and a massive fire pit too The venue at the Jack Russell for my son, Sam and his beautiful bride Victoria's wedding celebration was stunning💖🎊. A short walk to the church too⛪ Wedding food was of very high quality and plenty of it too Food was fabulous for both our days in between Staff were excellent and very attentive. A massive thank you to Chris for taking Willow out while the ceremony took place and also when it was too hot to take her out with us in the car the next day for an emergency optician visit in Andover. Willow has a new best friend😎🐶😘 All in, if you love your dog, go there and forget the cost, you will be treated so well in a beautiful setting xx Well done to Chris and his fabulous team xx 💕

Very charming hotel in a gorgeous setting, located only 20 minutes away from Highclere Castle/Downton Abbey. We stayed in the Dog House and both our rooms were spacious, beautifully decorated and well appointed, with gorgeous views on the hotel grounds. Comfortable beds, good quality bedding and towels, incredible attention to details, friendly staff, nice dinner and wonderful breakfast. Everything was perfect. We also loved the fact that the hotel is dog friendly, (even though we didn't have our dog with us).

What a hidden gem this hotel is!! It’s situated in the middle of the countryside. We arrived to a warm welcome from the Manager who showed us to our room and what a beautiful room it was, over looking the countryside. The room was immaculate with a large comfortable bed, so quiet, we slept so well. Great power shower including all the extras you’d expect from a 5 star hotel. Our evening meal was superb, great menu. Breakfast did not disappoint either great selection and cooked to perfection. We can honestly say that there was nothing we could pick fault in and we can’t wait to return in the Spring. Great base for visiting the races at Newbury and Highclere Castle. Thank you to you all for making our stay so magical.

Absolutely nothing to fault.

Everything about this stay was superb. On arrival, the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Our room was deluxe with roll top bath and a small seating area, looking over a field. (Late evening star gazing recommended). Shower, bath, bed were all fabulous. We ate at the pub and what a treat. From pre-drinks in the comfy bar area and into the restaurant where the service was excellent. We had chateaubriand which felt like a feast with perfectly cooked steak and separately served sides. Lovely.

It’s our 14th stay at the JR we drive 3 hours to spend time there as we love it 🥰 so much. However it would be nice to be welcomed back it’s as if we don’t exist that type of nonchalant attitude I would like to see changed .

Very modern and new facilities in the rooms. good location and plenty of parking.

The staff were quite unhelpful during our stay. We felt as if they were always too busy to help us with any queries. There was also no information about breakfast or dinner options and the pub was fully booked with non-guests for lunch and dinner which was rather frustrating.
