Absolutely beautiful place set in excellent surroundings. The Breakfast was second to none. They have a bar but if you prefer to go out for a drink there's 2 pubs within easy walking distance of the Hotel.

We arrived on a Sunday the car park was full with presumably people having Sunday lunch there so we drove around for a while and came back when all was well. If you arrive on a Sunday there's no food after 5pm when the Sunday lunches are finished. There is food available in the other two village pubs though.

Our stay are Riverside House was absolutely lovely. Our room was very clean and on the 1st floor. They have their own parking which was very helpful too. The location was great as it was near several walking routes. We especially enjoyed walking to Thornbridge Brewery (about a 15-20 minute walk away). The staff were friendly and helpful and overall we really enjoyed our stay.

We were there during a heat wave and although were were given a fan, we were very, very hot at night. We had to sleep with the windows open and woke up to a few bug bites as a result. My partner and I are both vegetarians and although the set up for breakfast was really nice I actually didn't enjoy it the first day there. I felt like perhaps they hadn't had vegetarians stay there for some time because the halloumi was a bit slimy and stringy and the veggie sausage was super dry. The next day we opted for plain toast and eggs. I enjoyed the mini yogurt pot they provided as a breakfast starter but would've preferred a vegan option if possible as I don't do well with milk. This, however, didn't ruin our stay and we would still recommend it to others.

We stayed in a ground floor garden room which was beautful, having gardens and the river just beside the door was stunning. The bed was comfortable, there was plenty of drawer and wardrobe space and the tea and coffee making facilities were of high standard and well shocked (staff also checked when we returned that evening if we needed replenishing). I particularly liked that portable cups were left which meant I could take a coffee with me on my morning walk around the village (it's the small things!). Breakfast was stunning - I keep thinking about the homemade granola! The staff were all very attentive without being overpowering and particular thanks to Jamie who took myself and my mum into Bakewell on our first evening to avoid us paying for a taxi.

We were greeted by friendly, helpful staff, for our one night stay in a garden room, our base for exploring Bakewell. The Hotel is situated in a lovely village with a couple of pubs. We had a fantastic meal at The Ashford Arms. Just a short walk from the Hotel. There was plenty of parking in the Hotel carpark. The room was spacious, warm, nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. The bathroom was modern with a lovely powerful shower. Breakfast was a fantastic three course treat! It was also great value for money.

Nothing to dislike. Maybe a mini fridge would be nice....

Amazing hotel with lots of charm and character. It was my 40th birthday and we got a room upgrade. Rafters is a beautiful room with lots of space and a huge bathroom! We had a peaceful night's sleep. The location is great and the food in the restaurant was brilliant! All of the staff are friendly and attentive without being overbearing. They made a particular effort to make a fuss of my birthday which was appreciated!

The room was quite warm and had a duvet which was too much considering the weather. There was a good fan though. The cocktail menu was quite limited and expensive. I have had much better at lower prices elsewhere. This was probably my only real grumble.

My husband and I spent the weekend at Riverside House Hotel to celebrate our 23rd wedding anniversary. From the moment we arrived, the team could not have done more to make us feel welcome, with no attention spared to detail. We had dinner on our first evening, which was a culinary experience, rather than just a meal. A wicked Margarita and canapes, followed by a leisurely 3 course meal, with knowledgeable staff talking us through the provenance of the local food and which wines paired best with each dish. I had the scallop starter, which was perfectly cooked (I could possibly have managed another 1 or 2!) For main course, my husband had the lemon sole which was delicately cooked, and I had the pork fillet - the pork cheek croquette was flavourful, crispy and melt in the mouth! The cheese board (and Malbec!) and apple pie were delicious - and the black treacle sourdough and Henderson's butter were amazing! Breakfast was a treat, and we highly recommend the Riverside Full English. Our bedroom overlooked the gardens and river, which enchanted my husband who is a keen angler, and it was lovely to be able to walk across Sheepwash Bridge to see the ducks and trout hiding in the weeds. We will most definitely be back!

Nothing!

We booked this as a last minute stop on our journey home via Chatsworth House expecting a nice village pub / hotel. The whole village was charming as was the hotel. Tucked away in its own grounds next to a river it ended our road trip on a high. The hotel was lovely and the staff couldn’t have been more friendly and attentive. We ate in the restaurant and had a lovely meal. Not a huge menu but all beautifully done and a welcome change from the usual pub /restaurant menus that we’d experienced while we’d been away.

Not much to dislike. If I was being picky there was a little noise from a nearby road.

It was in a beautiful, tranquil village; spotlessly clean & beautifully decorated & furnished. Our room was really lovely; the bed was very comfortable & everything was to a very high standard. We had tea, coffee & hot chocolate making facilities & some gorgeous custard choux buns on arrival! Breakfast was 3 courses & the food was fabulous - cooked to perfection! The staff were so friendly & attentive………..nothing was too much trouble! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this fabulous hotel in such a pretty village…………would definitely recommend to friends & family & really hope to return one day!

Nothing!

The welcome from the staff was superb! We also loved the comfortable bed, spotless room, tea/coffee/hot chocolate as well as a freshly baked choux bun when we arrived, We loved the fabulous direct access to the garden through french doors, and our own Lutyens bench and table where we sat with our morning coffee. The patio next to the river was particularly beautiful. Breakfast was 3 courses, we went for the full English and were very satisfied. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Highly recommended for a luxury stay in a quintessential English village setting. Parking was easy, although driving into the property needs your full attention due to the limited gate width).

Nothing!

The service was second to none. The food was exquisite. The room had the best of everything. The atmosphere was completely and utterly relaxed, it was an oasis of calm in a world where you can't get away from tech, noise, people etc, after being here for about 15 minutes all of that slipped away and I fully relaxed, happy and content. As silly as it seems my visit to Rafters has made me rethink my job and my attitude to life! Think that sounds ridiculous, book a stay and see for yourself. Thankyou Rafters I will be back, you were magical!!

Absolutely nothing!
