The staff were attentive and helpful and sorted an anniversary sweet. The room was nicely decorated with great views. There was a good drinks selection, with fresh milk. The restricted TV volume later at night was a good touch. The toiletries were good quality. The bed was very comfortable with good pillows.

We had a little difficulty seeing the door lock and could have done with a brighter light next to the door. In the bathroom, the towels were far away from the sink. A hook would've been useful as we ended up putting the hand towel on the toilet. The windows were painted shut, which meant as it was warm, we couldn't open them for air. Although the fan helped to cool the room, the noise from it stopped us having a good night's sleep.

The Cavendish never fails to delight! The view is breathtaking and a short walk across that beautiful view and you are at Chatsworth House, couldn't be easier. Also the Chatsworth Farm Shop only a 5 minute drive away, such lovely things to buy and access to all. The building/place has character (clearly once and old Coaching Inn), rooms are comfortable and well appointed. Food is delicious, breakfast to die for, service excellent. Reception and front of house staff always eager to help and please, indeed having enquired about a particular painting hanging opposite reception, I was swiftly provided with details of the painting and the artists website. Lovely thoughtful touches, loved staying here, thoroughly recommend it.

Nothing frankly

Breakfast, one of the best hotel breakfasts I have ever had! ( even GF) and I spend around 40 to 50 nights a year in hotels. I had a basic ground floor room but it was excellent.

Unfortunately, and it probably was a bad choice, I ordered the braised beef which I was assured could come gluten free. It arrived looking like fatty, grey meat reminiscent of school dinners. I didn't even touch it but the serving staff did not notice this until they were clearing the main courses. At that point they offered to provide an alternative but as my friend had finished her main it wasn't appropriate timing wise. I ordered a pudding and left it at that. When checking out I had to insist that the main was removed from my bill. I would have hoped and expected that to have happened without comment.

The staff were amazing and so helpful. We had the seven course meal in the restaurant which was absolutely perfect. We also had the Wine Flight and found this both very interesting and entertaining as the Sommelier was so enthusiastic we thought he could start his own TV show.

The hotel was charming but a little bit too old fashioned for my liking. It was next to a very busy main road and the old sash windows could only be held open by using a shoe as a temporary wedge, as I like a bit of fresh air and there was no Air Conditioning.

Gorgeous, comfortable, beautifully decorated hotel. Our room was the furthest from reception on the edge of the ground floor, extremely quiet. Lovely bed, huge and comfortable. Bathroom perfect with none of the niggles we always have with hotel bathrooms. Proper kettle, generous quantities of tea bags etc, fresh milk in the mini fridge! These touches are invaluable. Everything worked. The staff are all extremely friendly and chatty. Whoever runs this place has excellent ethic going and guests really benefit from this.

We enjoyed our meal in the Garden Room, but my husband was quite sad that his starter of Eel consisted of one small mouthful. Inadequate portion. Otherwise the meal was good, service outstanding.

We thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay at this welcoming hotel, which offers stunning views of the Derbyshire countryside. We were very pleased with our excellent, quiet room—thank you for the upgrade! —as well as the tasteful interior decor, the delicious dinner on the terrace, the superb cooked breakfast, and the consistently professional service. We’d love to return one day for another memorable visit—and hopefully walk all the way to Chatsworth...

The food and hotel lived upto expectation. We have stayed many times over the years and have always been delighted with the care and attention to detail delivered by the staff and facilities. Even down to the mural in the Gents of the graffiti that used to be on the walls :) Love the place and enjoyed our stay.

Our breakfast was spoilt by 2 men having a pissing contest about their cars with no regard to anyone else in the gallery. It really was upsetting to listen to but it was clearly their aim to impress everyone else in the room. A shame :(

Great location, staff very friendly and helpful. Only had breakfast for the two days we stayed, but that was lovely.

Nothing specific, the room we stayed in suffered from noise through the ceiling from the upstairs rooms. Parking was limited for us, particularly for disabled badge. They had a private event, which took up a lot of space in the car park, large range rovers parked in disabled areas.
