The Highwayman is a lovely place & base to explore the Peak District from, as it’s close to Bakewell, Matlock, Haddon & Chatsworth House, and nestles neatly within a beautiful landscape. We stayed for 5 nights during April & were lucky enough to have exceptional sunny weather for the time of year. You could see the mist whispering over the fields in the mornings from the view from our room window, which gave a feeling of being part of a Jane Austen novel! The rooms were very clean & staff were always helpful & attentive. The food was also exceptional for the price. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Lovely location with nice views, fab restaurant next door with good prices and high quality food. The room had all we needed and when we arrived we had a towel elephant on the bed. The bed is very comfy and good shower and bath products. The coffee selection was good and we had biscuits. For the price this was an absolute bargain.

Room has no air conditioning or heating so you may find yourself too hot or too cold. It was way too hot and even with the window open it kept me awake. Not the end of the world when weighing up everything else. Also waited for 15 mins in reception with no one to check us in before going to the restaurant to find someone which was inconvenient after 6 hours on the motorbike travelling and you just want to rest. Again an inconvenience but not terrible she was lovely.

Booked at the last minute, as a start to our trip to Wales. Easy check-in. Louise was very helpful, especially as there was no remote control for the TV. Food in the adjacent restaurant was lovely, quick to be served, and good value for money. Bed was very comfortable and bathroom was clean.

Floorboards were very creaky throughout, even though we were on the ground floor, so there was some noise from upstairs. No remote for TV, but reception sorted this quickly (they always get pinched, apparently!) Air con didn't work in room, so it was quite warm overnight. Could benefit from EV chargers in car park so you can charge overnight.

The breakfast is now much better quality than when it was Premier Inn. Better bread, bacon and proper butchers sausages. The dinner menu is now smaller but the food is much better. Over 3 nights, I had steak pie, fish and chips, and sirloin steak. Everything was cooked and presented to a much higher standard than we've previously experienced when it was a Premier Inn.. The wifi (that used to very poor unless you paid extra) is amazingly fast and free. I would recommend this as a great base to explore the area or if travelling for work

We enjoyed our 1 night stay. We had booked the superior room through booking.com which included a king and 2 single beds. On arriving Julie on reception had noticed that we had a baby and suggested taking the bed down and supplying a cot instead. She showed us to our room and took down one of the single beds and provided us with a travel cot. She was so helpful, accomodating and inclusive and patient of our other child (5 year old) who wanted to help her. We really appreciate her attention to detail and kindness. Thank you. We really enjoyed our stay. This is the second time we have been here and will definitely be back for more walks in the Peaks.

Wonderful hotel, lovely location, stunning view from hotel window for what we paid! Staff were wonderful, our room wasn't quite ready so were given a free drink at the bar which was excellent. Food was wonderful at the adjoining restaurant, staff were great. Room was clean and comfortable with plenty of tea and coffee available in the room or the reception. Shower was amazing. It was quiet at night too. Regret we couldn't stay longer bit we had a charity trek to get to! Highly recommend!

As a last minute booking this was absolutely brilliant . Staff were wonderful and extremely pleasant on check in . Rooms were ex Premier Inn and as expected with no issues . Adjoining restaurant was accommodating and food lovely and priced nicely As a new Hotel of the Chatsworth Group it will become easily established in their chain of Hotels . I have to say a big thanks to Julie the receptionist , she was warm , friendly and accommodating in guests requests and a credit to the Hotel . I hope and wish the success to all bringing this establishment in growing to accommodate guests visiting Chatsworth etc .

Nothing of great importance Maybe as we stayed on a Saturday night I feel the bar could of atyed open till 11pm not 10pm as after our meal we still needed to unwind . .

Good location. Easy to find. Receptionist nice lady. Room was nice and clean. Very quiet which was the most important for me.

Someone was talking outside my door at 10 pm but only for a few seconds so it wasn't majorly inconvenient and I wasn't asleep but just started to settle etc and I heard him earlier as well so I'm guessing he's a worker and he's showing people to their room or something? But I could be wrong with that. But after that, I didn't hear a thing. It was deadly quiet.

We stayed at The Highwayman on the 12th of July for the Ibiza event at Chatsworth House . Everything was excellent from start to finish 👌 Louise on reception, was great & gave us information on buses to the event , even going out of her way to walk us out of the hotel to show us the bus stop ! The breakfast was amazing, fresh & fast ! The bar staff friendly & we sampled the exceptional Chatsworth gin . Thank you all

Beautiful location in a quiet country road, the view from our room was nice green fields and cows. The room was comfortable and clean, the staff (Julie in particular) was super welcoming and helpful. The hotel is close to a town with all the facilities, so good location to grab bits and bobs during your peak district visit.

The continental breakfast was lacking, lots of stuff werent topped up or had run out.
