The Wheatsheaf is located super close to Chatsworth and Bakewell, which was fantastic for us. Loads of parking available - always good. It has a huge terrace and garden which I imagine is very popular during summer and with families. The room was simple but very spacious, and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast had a lot of options to choose from and was well priced.

The hotel is right on a very busy road. I'm a light sleeper, so it would be a nice touch if they provided ear plugs at reception, the bar, or even in the room to prevent this being an issue for any guests. Dinner was okay, but it is reminiscent of a Wetherspoons offering, with a higher price tag. This is a chain pub/hotel, however, so we expected this and still had a really pleasant evening in the restaurant.

The room was comfortable and clean and well equipped for a one-night stay. The pub has an excellent garden with plenty of shady seating and good facilities for children. The shower room is small but clearly newly re-done and very clean. Great location with Chatsworth next door and also lots of lovely walking from the door. Breakfast was very good value with plenty of options. Great welcome from the staff who were very attentive and friendly. Plenty of parking space. Baslow is a very attractive village with several other pubs, cafes and facilities, which we would like to visit again - would happily stay here again to do so.

There is some road noise which is unavoidable. Nowhere in the shower room to hang towels to dry.

Incredibly good value. Surprised to find such a clean, comfortable, well-decorated room for the money (we booked last minute). Recently completely refurbished. Tea, coffee, biscuits- nice big mugs. Our only regret was that we didn’t eat there, as we’d originally intended. It was very busy indeed on that Sunday afternoon (we should have taken this as a sign) and we fancied a quiet drink, so crossed over to The Devonshire Arms and enjoyed one in a pleasant area. We then made the mistake of eating there, too, and had a really dreadful meal (they couldn’t even manage a good fish and chips). So, there is a reason for the crowds at The Wheatsheaf! We will, for sure, eat with you next time! Big car-park. Easy walk directly from there to Chatsworth. Manageress very welcoming.

This place is a little treasure. The staff are lovely and really chatty and interesting. The food is great, rooms are comfortable. You can walk to Chatsworth House across the fields which is how Jane Austen would have done it (beautiful!).

It is on the main road, and my room was at the front. But actually it was not as loud as I thought it might be! I only woke up once.

The room was well laid out, clean and welcoming. Bathroom neat and in good working order. Friendly staff and a very good welcome with full health and safety instructions. Full selection of breakfasts and unlimited tea/coffee. Bar menu is comprehensive and served promptly in the evening.

The property is beside a busy main road so the traffic is continual with some heavy lorries. With the windows closed it's controllable. Don't be put off by this as Baslow is a pretty village.

The room was cosy and clean. The staff were very helpful and efficient. They go above and beyond. Food was excellent. Location was ideal for a concert at Chatsworth. Lovely beer garden at the back which was superb for socialising with friends for pre concert drinks on a lovely sunny day.

There was nothing I didn’t like.

It’s set in a great location for exploring the Peak District. Staff are friendly and helpful and food was good. Room and bathroom were very clean.

The bedrooms are up a steep flight of stairs so not great for those with mobility issues. This is our second stay so it didn’t put us off!

Everything was excellent however the one thing we missed was a lift as we had three heavy suitcases to take upstairs. We were aware of that when we booked and it would ruin the old hotel to do that and a young man helped us up with our cases. The atmosphere, room sizes, cleanliness, service and food were all excellent.

No lift but that was anticipated.

We stayed at The Wheatsheaf during a hiking holiday in the Peak District. It is a charming country pub perfect for visitors who want to go to Chatsworth - you can walk directly from the pub in about 30 mins on a safe and quiet country lane to Chatsworth House. The room was very comfortable, the food was great and the staff were really helpful (we accidentally forgot our bag with our wallet etc downstairs during dinner and they kept it safe for us until the morning.) They also kindly kept hold of our bags after we checked out for a couple of hours while we went to visit Chatsworth. Price was very reasonable and would definitely recommend!

Our room was quite close to the road but the traffic noise didn't bother us at all personally

Everything measured up to our expectations and we are glad we stayed. We would be happy to stay again.

The food was good value and pretty decent, good pub food, but not as good as other reviewers led us to believe. Baslow is a good location to explore from but not a great destination.
