The Maynard is a very special place for us as it was the venue of our wedding 10 years ago. Like to return as much as possible for drinks and meals and we’re looking at a overnight stay for a 10 year anniversary. The staff brilliant. The venue is great in decor and the variety of drinks available was superb.

The only downside for us was the evening meal. At 7:15, sitting time the restaurant run out of lots of options. Two fish dishes that we had Idle in the day plus the Sunday roasts were out of stock. We opted for steak but they were very chewy and looked like cobbled together cuts. Also the chips weren’t cooked long enough. This was a shame as everything else on our stay was fantastic.

The room had great facilities and was clean and comfy. A bath and coffee machine were nice additions. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was good and had several vegetarian options for breakfast.

The telly didn’t work (possibly a bad signal) bur wasn’t a major issue.

All the staff were amazing especially restaurant staff and reception team. Room was decent size and spotless. Restaurant and meals were good portions and really good. Kitchen and restaurant team were EXCEPTIONAL in ensuring my food allergies were factored in. Thank you for a memorable stay.

Really tiny issue in that my room had a view of the car park not the Peaks. The room itself was really lovely. So my recommendation to other guests is book early and if you are like me and love great views from your room, request this at the earliest. That aside, all else was brilliant!

The whole experience of staying at The Maynard was excellent from the minute we walked in with the warm friendly greeting at reception to the style of the hotel this was well and truly in tune with it's surroundings, our room was very clean and stylist with a comfortable bed and an amazing shower. We had a 2 night stay and ate on both evenings in the beautiful restaurant with pleasant friendly and courteous staff with a fabulous new menu. My partner is gluten free and 80% of the choices on the menu was gluten free and the dishes we had was so tasty. The Maynard is in a beautiful location with Padley Gorge near by. Would deffo recommend.

Excellent breakfast - had the full English and a fresh fruit salad - lots of choice , served in the restaurant at table , overlooking the lovely garden . Staff polite & helpful .Also it was served til 11am if needed . Evening meal was great -we had Starters Arancini & Scotch Egg , Rabbit & Chicken Supreme ( bit more sauce needed) .Checking in & out easy . Parking good. Lovely location for walks . Room very clean and had all we needed. Would stay again..

There was some noise from the room next door at 5.30am, comings and goings , which did disturb my sleep - may have been some of the wedding party.who were staying..

The continental breakfast was lovely!! The staff were excellent. The rooms were all delightful. The views were beautiful from several rooms. The beds were very comfortable and large.

There was a problem with the shower in my daughter's room. The water wasn't draining away and would have overflowed. She came to our room to shower as she was a bridesmaid and needed to be looking good. Somewhat disappointing for her. When l moved rooms to 'Jeanne' the shower was electric and extremely hard to regulate the temperature. I could stand under it. Very poor flow too. Again disappointing. The room were gorgeous to be in though.

Nice interior design, great location for outdoor pursuits, nice beer garden, great restaurant with a sunny garden view, good meals and breakfast.

We asked for a quiet room away from the kitchen extractor fan and were promised that by reception when we booked ahead, but ended up with a room right over the kitchen extractor fan(!), which was very disappointing; poor booking management. We should have complained but it was too late in the day. It did mean we got a nice view across the fields though, so it was a balance. The room was very hot and with a thick duvet on the bed, so we eventually found how to turn off the electric towel rail, the underfloor heating and the radiator- we also had to remove the duvet from the cover to get to a normal temperature. They need to improve their fruit salad for breakfast- it is very basic indeed, mainly chopped apples! The cooked breakfast is fab ;-)

Breakfast was good nice what we did have. Room did have amazing view and free standing bath lovely. Sundays they have live music which was nice and not intrusive

Breakfast could be improved. would have like option to have cereals and fresh fruit Room is showing signs of wear. Lots of chipped paint. Tap over sink constantly dripping Restaurant and garden open to non residents and when weather hot it gets very very busy and service suffers as people seem to come and stay for hours although young girl who served us did her best. Think they need residents only garden opening as they clearly had another area they didn’t open.

Very nice hotel and restaurants where one can sit outside and enjoy the sun at the terrace & garden. The location is extremely beautiful and allow you to go hiking and explore the area around peak district. Breakfast is excellent. We loved it so much. Room is spacious and nicely decorated

Because of the beautiful location, it is used as an event location as well. Wall is thin, the wedding guests were loud at night and super inconsiderate about the other guests. It would be nicer if a hotel can have a separate section for this kind of event.

The room was lovely and the hotel itself was beautiful. The view from my room was stunning. I had dinner in the restaurant and the man who served me was brilliant - really attentive. The food was lovely too.

Unfortunately I was woken up at 5am by someone hoovering the stairs right outside my room, and then couldn't get back to sleep. Apart from being a peculiar choice for a hotel to make, it was frustrating for me. As a pregnant woman travelling alone, I had a very long car drive to make and really needed all the sleep I could get. I would've mentioned this when checking out but the woman on reception didn't ask how much stay had been. If I'm being picky it would also have been nice to have been offered a hand lugging my luggage up the stairs (being as my centre of gravity is off at the moment!) I also wasn't aware until I arrived that the breakfast meant to be included with my room wasn't served until 8, and I needed to leave at 7:45. So I left tired and hungry.
