Very welcoming and friendly staff that described how they operate with the keys for the rooms and fire safety procedures. A very quiet, clean, secure room with functioning lighting, charging ports, shower with supplied towels, and a small tv. A welcoming atmosphere during the evenings, a good variety of food that was a proper filling portion size, but maybe a little on the expensive side. I especially liked the gammon.

The only negatives I have is that there were a few minor signs of cracks and damage in the room and the building in general, a slightly creaky bed, and a plug in the sink was a bit difficult to get to release to get water flowing away properly. Nothing completely off-putting mind you, especially for a building of it's age.

What an absolutely brilliant place! It has a proper country pub vibe, right in the heart of the scenic Peak District! The staff were just lovely and couldn't do enough for you. A cracking selection of drinks, fantastic food using local stuff, and the service was spot on. Loved the little touches, like fresh flowers on the table for breakfast! The room was set up for accessibility and it genuinely had everything you'd need. Parking is a dream – there's a massive car park with loads of space. For walking, the location is perfect. You've got several trails literally on your doorstep

'Twixt city and countryside the Norfolk Arms Hotel is excellently located for visiting the Peak District. The staff were very welcoming and helpful and our room was spacious and well-appointed. The bar/restaurant was a busy hub of activity throughout the day, so booking a table for an evening meal is advised, and there was good outdoor seating to enjoy the exeptional weather that we had during our short stay there. We would definitely return if ever back in the area.

A bit noisy in our room due to an event in the function room below, but this is mentioned in the hotel's information. Request a room away from the function room if that is an issue.

Room 1 was spacious and well furnished. The bed was large and very comfortable; the bathroom had a decent shower although the floor covering needed an upgrade (it was cracked); there was plenty of storage and the room was lovely and warm on a very cold winter's night. Down in the bar there was a very extensive choice of beers/lagers served quickly and efficiently by friendly staff even though it was very busy. The pub menu was varied and we thought represented good value (but no curry!). If you want intimate dining à deux you'll be disappointed as it has a buzzing, lively atmosphere.

The TV was small and so far away that we didn't even attempt to watch it, using iPlayer on our tablets instead.

The staff were so amazingly kind and helpful, arranging beds for our children and even leaving them biscuits on their pillows. The breakfast was good value and absolutely delicious. The rooms were spotless, extremely comfortable, and spacious. The location was beautiful and we went for a lovely walk down into the valley where there was a stream, a play park and a lovely cafe, before driving over to Curbar Edge the next day (15 mins).

Room 4 was fantastic and faultless. Room 5 was above a party room being used for a 50th birthday and the music was really loud until midnight. That isn't too late for adults, but as we were travelling with children, that made part of our stay quite difficult.

our room was spacious, well equipped, comfortable, clean and nicely decorated. Our evening meal was generous and very tasty. Breakfast was not included in our rate, but we selected from the varied menu and had a good value light breakfast. in spite of major renovations taking place at the premises, these did not affect our stay. There is already a very good outside eating/drinking area which will only benefit from the renovations

We would have liked bottled water and a better selection of biscuits in the room, but this is nit picking

Value for money, room was a good size, furniture slightly dated but it's cheap as chips so can't complain as all functional. Was ultra clean, bed was comfy with lovely clean linen. Very quiet peaceful nights sleep. Staff couldn't do enough for you. Had the optional breakfast in the morning which too was excellent. Thank you we will definitely be back.

Nothing, maybe a bit of a update but then the price will probably go up. Oh the TV was on the small side and wouldn't work but it was no biggie as I didn't need it anyway.

This is a comfortable property with very nice rooms (or at least ours was) but the most impressive thing was the unfailingly cheerful, helpful and polite staff - right throughout the property, restaurant and bar.

it’s a bit hard to judge fairly as there’s some building work going on at the moment which impedes the view a little and gets going outside the room windows at around 9:00 am. Aside from that, my only note would be that our rom was pedestal bath only (with a hand-held shower extension) which might not suit everyone. It was fine for us.

Had a brilliant stay at the Norfolk Arms. It is so well positioned - close to Sheffield should you need any of the larger stores, and just down the road from the beauty of the peaks, with so much to explore. The staff were all so friendly and nothing was too much for them. The room was a great size for a standard double, and the bed was very comfortable! Food at the bar downstairs was delicious, and staff were amazing at making sure to take care with my severe nut allergy. All in all, a fabulous short break away, and I will definitely be back should I be in the area again!

The location was wonderful and although the pub was busy , our room was really quiet. The breastfast had a good choice and was reasonably priced . The evening meal was excellent and had a good choice including meals for vegetarians. Liked the light bites menu . Portions were good .

The mattress was hard and moved when you turned over. Please turn the radiators off , we had the windows wide open and even though we turned the radiator down it was still a bit warm.
