The colleagues at Jonas are always incredibly helpful, welcoming, friendly and professional. Providing and bringing extra pillows to my room, and allocating a room away from the main entrance where residents have a smoke - I have asthma. Having the washing machines and dryers, but also the kitchen to keep and cook food in is of amazing help. My total respect and sympathy goes to the housekeeping team who have the un-enviable task of making the beds that are fixed in place.

The following is outside of the the hotel's control, and is just a note for those who are light sleepers - Bring earplugs - Friday and Saturdays are noisier as the students return from town early a.m, and the doors to the rooms are heavy sprung - with the greatest care in the world it is often unavoidable for the doors to bang.

Everything was so clean and tidy, the shower even looked brand new. Nice and peaceful location within the student accommodation blocks. Lovely wooden table and lots of surfaces in the room to suit your needs. Good quality free breakfast!

The mattress in my room sinks in the middle unfortunately which hurt my back all night, good quality mattress though, if someone can move the mattress from feet end to head end, it might fix the problem for the next guest who's gonna stay in room 218. And it's not very sound proof so could hear the cleaning noise next door and above the ceiling quite loud around 9am, but they clean so well so I can take some noise.

There was always someone at reception and they were polite, knowledgeable and well-dressed. The hotel is in a quiet and upmarket residential suburb of Sheffield. It is very near the Botanical Gardens and conveniently close to the main road going into the city centre. A cooked breakfast is provided at the hotel next door. I believe it was only £7.50. Or a complementary hot drink and pastry item can be enjoyed at the Jonas Hotel itself.

I had the feeling that the hotel was once a hall of residence for Sheffield University. It had that kind of feel to it. There wasn't any tea or coffee making facilities in my room. But drinks and snacks could be purchased at reception. Other than that, no complaints.

The Jonas colleagues go above and beyond what can be expected of them. Thank you for the room location on the .01-22 side of the property and for the key to use the kitchen with oven+dining table enabling me to have my 1 or 2 hot meals in months. Thank you Caz for your patience and diplomatic tact with my unintended self-absorbed blathering after a very difficult few weeks, when you have a great deal to contend with.

This isn't a complaint or fault find purely a suggestion: Re: kitchens without a dining table or seating A 1ft deep shelf along the wall, or drop down section of worktop with bar stools/foldable chairs would be really useful, and help towards reducing spillage/smells in rooms; saving the housekeeping teams valuable time and cleaning chemicals.

I liked the feel and the look of the reception area, which was very welcoming. The staff were friendly and helpful. We loved our breakfast and the quality of the pastries. Wow! When we arrived we bought 2 hot drinks and I was pleasantly surprised at your prices. The room was adequate for our needs. Clean and tidy. Decent toilet roll and a bath mat ( also a rubber slip mat if needed).

Only 1 pillow each. Plastic cover on mattress, I understand why but made it a very, very hot night. The only small issue was that the toilet brush hadn't been cleaned and was covered in toilet paper from its last use.

Lovely, clean and comfortable hotel. Very friendly staff. Huge fully equipped kitchen on every floor if needed. Nice coffee and pastry for breakfast. Very impressed considering the low cost. I was there to visit my son who lives in the student village so it was really convenient for me.

There was a bit of noise from a party in one of the nearby halls of residence which I suppose is to be expected during term time when you stay in a hotel on the student village. The coating of the bed headboard was a bit shabby and had started flaking off and some of it was in the bed. Not a huge problem though for the price!

I am incredibly grateful to the colleague who placed the additional pillows and allocated the room 3.05 when he had so much else to do. Thank you for ringing The Halifax hotel and booking the breakfast. My thanks also to the housekeeping team who do an amazing and challenging job owing to the design of the beds, and other challenges that can crop up

This isn't a reflection of Jonas, but purely as a guide for others travellers; if you are needing peace and quiet Fridays and Saturdays are noisy as the students/other guests come back from a night out in the city around 2 am onwards and don't always consider other guests ('please don't disturb' signs on doors not a guarantee you'll be unaffected). I use earplugs, but these are insufficient. If like myself you're an early riser (03.30 to 04.00hrs) it might not matter as much.

The whole team - housekeeping and front of office - work exceptionally hard, and deliver a friendly, welcoming, and professional service. Always ahead of the game, responding and fulfilling requests made by guests on their booking form where availability and viability permitted such extras as additional pillows and room allocation away from smoking areas. The housekeeping team do an amazing job, and in such a tight turn around of time. Attention to detail such as profession flourushes making folded loo roll ends whilst carrying out back breaking bed changes (beds are in-built and do not allow for the pulling out to tuck in bed linen at only one side) is often overlooked and under-appreciated. This hotel, with it's very cheap laundry facilities (£1.40 for 1hr drying) and kitchens has made a tremendous, and supportive difference to me owing to my neighbour issues at home. I would like to thank all of the colleagues, young but very mature, for their help and thoughtfulness over the past year.

Caz and Nick were already allocating a room away from the entrance and sorting out the extra pillow when I arrived at reception - I feel very humbled by the time and patience Caz, Nick and other Jonas colleagues have shown in accommodating my request given how busy they are, a huge thank you seems very inadequate. I liked that front of house team members have experienced what it's like on the housekeeping duties, Caz's empathy for the gentleman who has to make the immovable beds was great to see.

Please provide your housekeeping team with fitted sheets if possible, he never complains, and does an absolutely amazing job, total props out to him, but he only has one back and great employees such as he are very hard to find, please look after him better.

I was taken aback in the most pleasant way, as Nick had already placed the extra pillow in the room, and due to availability was able to allocate a room away from the main entrance having read my message sent with my booking. I never expect the team here to have the time to accommodate special requests but due to spinal issues and asthma the extra pillow/s and distance from smoking is wholeheartedly appreciated. Not only that, but Nick had recalled my last stay where I asked if I could use the kitchen on the floor below as it had a dining table in it, and so this time he had booked me on this floor. Nick, as with other colleagues at Jonas, are incredibly helpful, professional, and engaging, helping where and when possible. Given they are all studying and have multiple tasks at Jonas, they never gripe. Thank you Nick for being so proactive and considerate, and to the whole team at Jonas for making me feel welcome. My hat off, and respect to the housekeeping team, making the beds - which is back breaking work, but moreso here as they are accessible at one side only and fixed in place. Having the use of the washing machines and dryers, as well as the kitchen facilities makes this hotel worth every penny.
