Right from turning up and a carpark with a view to die for …then walking through the door and we had lovely welcome , our room was spacious and the bed and pillows so comfy, great shower and fabulous views, cooked breakfast was delicious and set us up for the day, evening meals were also delicious… all staff from managers , breakfast staff , chefs, bar staff and cleaner all made our stay so much nicer , what a fabulous friendly hardworking team they have there , the whole downstairs is cosy and welcoming and sitting by the log burner after a hike with a cuppa and slice of delicious daily cake , just brilliant , we also lucky enough to be there for Friday steak night and a band to follow …. Brilliant !!!

First night I didn’t sleep as the inn is near the road but easily fixed by getting ear plugs , then I slept like a log!!! I totally didn’t like to hear that as we would happily returned to see the team again!!! That they have been given a weeks notice for new owners so it wouldn’t be the same and we will no longer want to return here again .. very disappointed for the fabulous team and atmosphere they have created …..

Can't rate the Millstone highly enough. We booked five rooms for a family group and felt utterly at home from the start. The staff were lovely, friendly, kind and helpful. Location is great on a main road through the Peaks with easy access to walks, villages and towns from Buxton to Bakewell and beyond. The views across the valley are beautiful. The breakfasts are great too, and the pub food in the evening is good and well priced. Tea and coffee in the room were replenished generously (some places are very stingy with the tea bags!)

Could do with more sockets in the bedroom, especially by the bed.

Couldn't fault my stay at the Millstone Country Inn. We were arriving before the 3:00 pm check in time and asked beforehand if we could leave our car in the car park whilst we went off exploring, this was no problem. Checked in late afternoon with no fuss and shown to our room which was a lovely double with stunning views of the local countryside. We didn't have an evening meal there but had a couple of drinks from the bar before going to our room for the night. We had an excellent sleep in the very comfy bed, very good shower then down for breakfast. The full English was excellent and the Continental selection also looked good with toast, cereals, fruit, yoghurts, juice, etc. All in all very enjoyable stay with very friendly and helpful staff. A great place to use as a base to visit the fantastic local area.

There was nothing we didn't like.

Staff were welcoming and friendly. The inn was ideally located for our visit. Plenty of walking routes and viewing spots for us close by. Room was lovely and clean and had everything we needed, shower was amazing albeit rather small but for bathroom size was adequate. Towels provided. Plenty of wardrobe space. Tea/coffee making facilities. We ate at the inn too and the food was perfect. Lovely selection and great portion size

Bed we found rather hard so didn't sleep as well as we wanted which was disappointing as rest of the stay was great. Took a dog and felt £20 extra a night was a bit excessive.

We stayed a couple of days for my birthday hike. The Millstone is a wonderful place to stay. Quiet, very friendly and accommodating staff. Lovely feel to the place in the evenings with log burners and a cosy atmosphere. They had a live band (black lighting) on steak night which was great, but all beautifully quiet in the rooms by 10pm so you can still get a great night sleep for your hiking. The views and walks in the surrounding areas are magical and must be revisited. I love this place, 10/10 👍

Fabulous location with wonderful views. Really comfy beds and the staff are fantastic! We were lucky in that there was live music on the Friday night, he was excellent! Great breakfast. We will definitely be back

As we stayed during the heat wave we were unfortunate that the only room free was the twin (behind the patio), you can’t open the main windows in this room…. I’m guessing for safety. It was incredibly warm in the room, although in normal weather I’d guess it would be ok. Wouldn’t put us off returning!

The room was very efficient, and the view was great. We also dined for dinner and the food was excellent. Breakfast was also wonderful, and we really enjoyed talking to the staff.

Our room had the late afternoon sun shining in, combined with a fairly hot day made the room a bit warmer. When we left the windows open for air we did get a bit of the road noise. I will say that being American and use to air conditioning this was a bit of an adjustment. I don't think it would have been an issue if it was cooler outside.

Claire the Manager and Rachel were extremely helpful and very welcoming. They made my stay very enjoyable and were genuinely interested in how my day went. They offered some great advice on walking routes. Loads of parking opposite the hotel just need to tell the hotel staff your car reg for free parking. Fantastic views from the terrace.

The taps in the bathroom sink ran hot water even when switching to cold - had to leave it running a couple of minutes to get cold water. Other guests also had the same issue.

It was located in an idyllic and tranquil location, a ten minute drive from the Padley Gorge National Trust for hikers. I thought the staff (in particular, Claire if I recall her name correctly) were really friendly, attentive to my needs and I felt really welcomed there. The room, shower and toilet facilities more than fulfilled my needs and after a long journey from London to Sheffield after work, I really had a restful night. I had a soya burger meal and a packed veggie sausage sandwich to take for the hike and both were really yummy meals. Thank you for keeping this tired traveller happy.

The location was fantastic, in the middle of a beautiful countryside, walking distance (about 20 minutes) to town where is a shop and other restaurants. The Inn is on a main road but that’s not a problem at all. The food was great and plentiful and Staff were very friendly. They had a step-by-step map for 3 different walks without the need to drive anywhere to see the stunning countryside.

There was not enough staff serving at the time so we had to wait longer than expected to check in and for food. The room was ok but it could do with some TLC though. Some shelving in the bathroom to hang towels and to put our toiletries bags would be great.
