Lovely old inn with charm. One particularly helpful staff member - not sure of his name (about 6'2" with glasses). We didn't have linen or towel for our 3rd person who was always on the booking. Another staff member had been asked 2x but not done anything. This gentleman jumped straight to making sure we were sorted - he was great with our meal service as well. Beautiful breakfast with lots of choices.

The room wasn't made up for 3 as we booked for. Missing the linen for pullout couch and towel for 3rd person.

Friendly place, warm & lively, staff really lovely. Comfy beds and good bathroom. Breakfast really good ingredients & tasty. The pub has some nice old copper kettles & pans & its very trad and has character. Enjoyed our stay and the local peaks & caverns nearby.

Not that i didn't like just be aware, Hope doesn't get great wifi & i used my phone data hotspot for my laptop in the room. It's a lively pub in the high st. With church bells nearby too,so if you want really peaceful and quiet go further into rural setting.

Great location, cozy atmosphere, fantastic food (ordered special of the day for dinner and great breakfast the next day). A welcoming, safe, friendly place for my children and I after a morning hiking. Some lovely attention to detail like ground coffee and cafetiere in bedroom. Very comfortable 4 poster main bed, crisp sheets and fluffy towels. Very quiet location overnight, despite what I'd read in a previous review. Some great service - young, blonde woman behind the bar couldn't be more friendly and helpful and the two ladies running the breakfast restaurant were so lovely and accomodating. Good wifi signal and parking facilities. Would definitely revisit, very reasonably priced.

With three of us sharing a room (me and my two children), I slept on the sofa bed which wasn't very comfortable (main bed was divine, however). The woman who I presume was in charge that I met the next morning was decidedly prickly and unfriendly. This was in stark contrast to the rest of the staff who made up for her manner in bucketfuls.

Young guy who checked me in was great, took me to my room, showed some of the important bits (shower switch etc), really good guy. Room was fab, food was maybe the weakest bit, I only had a burger but I thought it might be better, breakfast wasn't mentioned as an option. Price good for the room, I'd have gone for a more basic room with say breakfast included. Lovely place overall and some great staff.

If i really had to comment on anything at all or perhaps suggest, it would be the location of the check in, maybe due to the entrance we walked in from the car park, we had to walk through the busy bar with a case etc but it was quickly done.

Staying in a pub is a always a bit of a gamble but the Old Hall Hotel in Hope was excellent. We were at a gig in Castleton and didn't want a drive back so picked this hotel. It's got an oldie-world charm and four-poster beds too! The bar was lively but the noise was low at bedtime. Facilities were good for a pub and were beyond our expectations. Staff were brilliant and check-in was super-efficient. The best bit was the restaurant. We booked a table prior to arriving and, again, I didn't know what to expect. Pleasantly surprised around the choices, especially Gluten Free, and had Chicken Supreme for the first time in 40 years. This was superb - presentation and taste was high-level restaurant standard - as was the other dish and dessert. Staff in the restaurant were amazing. Breakfast was ace! Really loved the stay. Hope is beautiful!

Location was excellent, dinner in the evening was good along with a lovely breakfast in the morning in the adjoined tea rooms, the bedroom was very comfortable and clean with everything you need. Only a few rooms on the corridor so no internal noise in the evening, lovely stay with friendly staff, the pub itself was busy and had a nice atmosphere

The only small negative is that the property is located right opposite the church which had clock bells chiming all through the night, which I presumed would be silent during the night but I was wrong so we did get disturbed by this during the night, obviously this is not the Old Hall Hotel's fault in anyway but it is something to be mindful of if this is the usual occurance and you happen to be a light sleeper.

Spacious, good value room in one of the better pubs in the Peak District. Great location (walking distance to both a train station and Castleton) Friendly staff. Excellent breakfast.

It’s a fairly lively pub in an old building so it can be a little noisy until the pub closes at night.

Old Hall Hotel is in a pretty good location in the middle of the Peak District. Our rooms were great, the staff were fantastic, and we enjoyed the breakfast. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this hotel as a place to stay if you're travelling through Hope.

The only thing that caught us off guard was that all the nearby places to get food close at around 10. There was a single restaurant open till 11, but if we hadn't realised we needed food at around 10:30 we wouldn't have been able to eat.

We enjoyed the informal friendliness of everyone and the casual vibe the inn managed. It's difficult for pubs, inns and hotels to keep in profit at this time of the year and so the offer of included breakfast could tempt more customers. However, our breakfast was very good value.

I'm being picky, but the seating around the open fire would be improved if the large table was changed for something more convenient for customers.
