Breakfast - great choice of food in a stunning and beautiful dining room. The staff were very efficient, helpful and pleasant.
We had to cross a very busy roundabout to access the hotel from our ground level bedroom

We had a truly wonderful stay at the Rutland Arms. The hotel itself is beautiful, full of character, charm, and in the perfect location to explore Bakewell and the surrounding area. But what really made our stay exceptional was the staff. Everyone we encountered was kind, helpful, and genuinely welcoming. A special thank you to the team on Sunday evening: after a long walk up Mam Tor, we lost track of time and returned to Bakewell too late to find anywhere still serving food. The kind gentleman at reception went out of his way to arrange for the hotel restaurant to take us in, and the restaurant staff were so gracious and warm, happily preparing us a lovely meal even at the end of their shift. That kind of thoughtfulness and hospitality is rare and it meant so much to us. We’ll absolutely return and recommend the Rutland Arms to anyone visiting the area. Thank you again for a truly memorable stay!

The lovely David on reception The beautiful, eclectic decor The impressive dining room The lovely food The efficient staff The feeling of utter relaxation The amazing artwork and quirky items The politeness and care of the staff to make you feel at home and valued...especially David
The traffic noise in room 306. We'd love to visit Bakewell again and to enjoy the Rutland Arms Hotel but we would definitely specify NOT to have room 306. Even with the radio on all night the lorries were constant and we were woken several times. Maybe some triple glazing in the room would help. The existing window is faulty and there is a gap in the frame in the bottom right corner with an open air hole out to the busy road. A new triple glazed window would do a lot to solve the problem. The blind would then stay clean (it's filthy where weather has blown dirt from outside through the gap in the window frame) and heating wouldn't be wasted.

Breakfast was exceptional, friendly and delightful in the breakfast room. Adam was ubiquitous and very helpful. Kudos and thank you Adam! Hanging out in the hotel was comfortable and everything we expected I a positive way. Location was very desirable.
Our room was exceedingly small, possibly one of the worst rooms in the Facility, and despite our request for a change, there were no other rooms available in the double/twin category. Sadly his was just an unlucky availability issue as next door rooms is the same category were much bigger and more attractively decorated. The room was quiet and clean, but the hotel was fully booked due to he Easter holiday. Despite our disappointing room assignment I would recommend the overall Hotel experience highly.

The location is superb - right in the middle of Bakewell. The hotel itself has a very luxurious feel to it with a beautiful dining room and reception area. Breakfast was great. We also had our evening meal there which was good although not huge portion sizes. We found the staff a bit mixed - some were really welcoming and smiley, others appeared to be having a bit of a 'bad day' and, although not rude, were not overly happy if you asked for something (dining room) eg sugar for cereal (only lumped sugar on the table), extra water etc.
We did book a small double room and it was small (which was okay) but it was very cluttered with 'hotel stuff'and the room was hot. There was a fan in the room but the window would only open a short way. The bathroom was very spacious but the window didn't open. Quite noisy from traffic at night but this is to be expected with a central location. It was very expensive compared to our previous night in Ashbourne which was half the price, twice the space and included breakfast!

An old property, beautifully decorated and very “genteel”. The dining room especially is very impressive and beautifully done out. I booked the accessible room and it was large and comfortable. The decor was very attractive and the beds very comfortable. A lovely log fire in the lounge area and a very convenient and pleasant coffee shop/restaurant in the hotel, besides the formal dining room. All the staff we encountered were pleasant and friendly.
It’s on a busy roundabout and the room we had was across a small but very busy road to the hotel. The “wet room” would benefit from a curtain to stop water from splashing all over the bathroom floor. A bit stingy with the complementary teas and coffees, though bottled water, biscuits and very nice toiletries were provided. I’m nitpicking a bit though as my niece and I were more than happy with the facilities.

This is a beautiful Georgian hotel right in the middle of Bakewell. The entire building is tastefully decorated and in excellent repair. There are lovely lounge areas to relax in in the main building and the staff are professional and efficient. We were in the courtyard on the other side of the road, but we didn't have any problems crossing and we were able to park near our room. Our room was a reasonable size with a very comfortable bed and compact, but stylish bathroom. The furnishings were lovely with botanical prints and velvet cushions. Good quality teabags and coffee pods provided and nice toiletries in the bathroom too. Breakfast was well cooked and very tasty and there was a good selection of yogurts, cereal, fruit etc.

The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly - including the cleaning staff, the receptionists, the bar staff, the restaurant staff and the chef who chatted to us too. The location of the hotel was excellent and very central with easy access to bus stops. The rooms we stayed in were lovely and situated on the second floor of the main hotel building. There is no lift (being an historic building) so a member of staff kindly arranged for our luggage to be taken to our rooms.
Parking may be a problem, and there is a small free hotel car-park. There other car-parks a short walk from the hotel but these incur an overnight charge. We were advised by e-mail of the parking facilities before our stay. Once we arrived at the hotel we were able to park the car in the hotel car-park for our 5 night stay. We decided to leave the car parked and use the bus or reasonably priced taxi services to get to the various places that we wanted to visit during our stay. Therefore, it was not a problem for us but I can appreciate this may be a concern for other guests staying at the hotel.

Fantastic location, right in centre of Bakewell. Bedroom was located in a very quiet area of the hotel. We didn’t hear anyone coming or going and even the though window was open, we didn’t hear street noise. The breakfast was superb too.
Room was way too hot and it wasn’t possible to open the window very far. Couldn’t believe they had the hallway radiator on full blast (beginning of July) right outside our bedroom. We both found the pillows to be too thick and hard. Why hotels don’t put one thick pillow and one thin pillow for each person is truly beyond me, we can’t be the only people that like a thin pillow. It truly is the difference between a good or bad nights sleep.

Central location in Bakewell. A lovely town which is pleasant to explore and a 10 minute drive from Chatsworth House. We had two separate overnight bookings in this hotel a few days apart to break up the long journey from the South to the Lake District and back. Both bookings were in a small double room - on the first visit, the room was in the main hotel and on the second visit the room was in the courtyard across the road by the car park. Both were just what we wanted although I slightly preferred the room in the courtyard due to the layout which gave us a little more room. We didn’t have the breakfast as we find hotel breakfasts quite expensive and usually go to a local cafe instead however we ate in the restaurant for our evening meal and very glad we did. The restaurant is in a nicely decorated space separate from the main bar. The food was a very high standard and modestly priced - I’d recommend an evening meal in the restaurant.
We were very lucky to get a parking space on both visits but it is touch and go. The alternative is to park in a public car park in the town.
