We stayed in Winhill as a party of 3. We have no complaints about any part of out stay. The room was lovely and our four poster bed very comfortable. The en-suite bathroom was huge and very clean. The choices for breakfast were excellent and freshly cooked to a high standard. The serving staff were helpful and pleasant. When we decided to eat in the pub one evening they found us a table very quickly - despite being very busy - and our meal was delicious. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone.

My daughter’s sofa bed could have been more comfortable but we didn’t let it spoil our stay.

Central location. Fortunate to get free parking. Staff very friendly and helpful. Nice spacious room, comfy bed. Food very nice too. Characterful building

We were here on hottest days of year, so far, had to leave window open so road noise, at night, was an issue but the 'over-revving club' are not the fault of the hotel. It is clean but, in places, showing its age. Bottom of bathroom door blown and some discoloured grout in shower. Just minor issues easily rectified with attention to detail - hoover into corners. Shower temperature was between hot and very hot. Overall they are small issues. Enjoyed stay and would return.

The Nags Head is a nice cozy traditional pub with a good range of real ales and good quality food. The freshly cooked full English breakfast is of good quality with fresh bacon and sausages an ideal way to start the day. The location right in the centre of Castleton is ideal for exploring this lovely part of the Peak District and the free parking is an ideal touch in what is a busy honeypot village.

The en suite bathroom was a little bit cramped especially the shower, felt a bit like a broom cupboard. Also my room faced onto a main road so traffic noise led to a disturbed nights sleep so they could do with fitting double glazing but I understand that this may not be possible as the property is in a conservation area.

We had a brilliant stay at the Nag's Head, we were in the Winhill room which is spacious, has a very comfy four-poster bed and a deep spa bath to relax in after walking the hills, plus views out over the village and beyond to Win Hill and the Mam Tor ridge. As it's December the streets and buildings are lit up with traditional Christmas lights making it all very festive. Breakfast is excellent, and we also had dinner one evening which was equally as good and lots of choice. The staff are friendly and helpful and the place in general has a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The car park space is very convenient, if limited and a little tight at the weekend. That said we had no issues.

It was all good.

Very friendly staff..traditional pub with an open fire ..great local ales...Food was well cooked and tasty.

We stayed in Winnatts..this room desperately needs a full upgrade..and a deep clean..room very dusty and full of cobwebs..tv too small cant see it properly from the bed..needs a bigger tv and would be better on the wall..broken toilet seat..bathroom radiator not working ..bathroom door doesn't close..mattress needs replacing..very uncomfortable nights sleep..no glasses or water offered in the room...bedroom window covered in cobwebs and filthy..overall very disappointed with the room .

The staff were excellent especially Dan,the breakfast very good

we were put in a room named WINNAFFS We arrived late but in the morning we noticed that the bathroom was very poor, bathroom door bottom hinge was not screwed to the frame, cracked floor tile, toilet roll holder fell off the wall, window blind damaged & some mould on ceiling.we spoke to Dan at the reception and explained to him and he moved us into another room which was far better. There was a sign in the 1st room explaining about refurbishments being done but basic maintenance and upkeep should be done as and when needed. All in all it's a lovely hotel in a great location with excellent and very friendly staff. we had a meal in the restaurant and it was very good. Hopefully some money can be put towards the upkeep of this lovely place.

A lovely pub/hotel in a great location. Room was lovely with a four poster bed. There were a couple of minor issues, lock on bedroom door was very difficult & a few lights not working. The dressing table chair didn't look safe or comfortable enough to sit on. We get it is a period style room but a comfy chair is needed. Superb cooked breakfast & lots of breakfast choices. We ate evening meal there, really nice & very big portions (as was breakfast). Overall, very good value for money & we would certainly return.

The location, the value for money, the breakfast, comfy bed

The radiators didn't work in the bedroom and it was freezing, especially when we came back from walking and were soaking wet, unfortunately the oil heater didn't really cut it. We were also kept awake in the middle of the first night by a member of staff on the phone to someone in a different country by the sound of it. They were practically shouting down the phone, which went on for ages, until someone banged on the door and told them to keep it down. Apart from that, everything was good and I would stay here again.

We had our wedding lunch and evening do at Ye Olde Nags Head, and we all stayed for two nights following. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating of our needs. Communication and organisation was wonderful, and very reassuring throughout. The team set the room up beautifully from all of the decorations we just dumped on them the night before. The food was exceptional, 27 people fed wonderfully without a single hiccup. The service throughout was impeccable. Thank you Dan, Lucy, Chef Rash and Sophie for making everything so perfect. Dan is an excellent manager, and the team on the day and throughout the day afterwards were all faultless. Lucy bent over backwards to make everything as special as she could, and is a credit to the team. They all felt like part of the family by the time we left after two nights! The breakfast was equally delicious, and we all slept comfortably and peacefully throughout our stay, having taken over every room in the pub. There is literally nothing we would have changed. Thanks Team Olde Nags Head!

Nothing. Everything was perfect.

The location was great right in the centre of Castleton. The room was basic but had a comfy bed with nice white sheets and large towels. The electric shower had recently been fitted and toiletries were provided. There was also tea, coffee and biscuits and a nice touch was a bottle of water and a mini wine. A large cooked breakfast was available and we really enjoyed our 2 night stay.

The room and hotel was in need of refurbishment, although a sign in the room did say this was being done gradually. We particularly liked the brick provided to keep the window open which was definitely needed, for what turned out to be a very warm July weekend.
