Our room (their best room I believe) was outstanding. The Superking bed was very comfortable, decor was pleasing and stylish, coffee and tea facilities top notch. The bathroom, complete with a quite new, quality bath and walk-in shower with a large rain shower head alongside a hose head, had a heated floor and towel rail and lots of space. The interior of the pub was stylishly decorated to a high standard, with a welcoming, cosy ambience. All of the staff were pleasant, friendly and keen to please. Food was of decent quality and generous portions. The views from the restaurant and outer deck are of rolling countryside. Car parking was adequate and there were several locations for charging EVs.

Public transport is infrequent so a car or taxi is required in practice.

The micro brewery in the grounds was clean, tidy, interesting see and we brought home a selection of exclusive craft ales. A fan was provided for my comfort (I have a lung condition). Disabled access and facilities well maintained and a brand new shower chair provided. Staff efficient, knowledgeable and friendly. Breakfasts and dinners were cooked to perfection and adapted on request. I was called to find out my individual disabled requirements, prior to our visit, and they were met. Cathy and Owen, and their team, were so welcoming and made sure our stay was comfortable, memorable and we have every intention of returning. Thank you Peacock at Barlow.

Rained every day of our 3 night stay! It would have been amazing to see the beautiful scenery without the fog.

We booked the Peacock based on the excellent reviews and weren't disappointed. From the moment we arrived, we had a warm welcome from all staff. We'd been told in advance they don't take bookings for dinner, and despite arriving during a busy quiz night, we were immediately found a table and enjoyed a tasty dinner. The room was perfect for our needs, with a coffee machine and some luxurious touches like bathrobes, slippers and underfloor heating in the en suite bathroom. Breakfast both mornings was delicious and arrived quickly. The location was perfect for a couple of days walking and we feel lucky to have found it. There's an on-site micro-brewery and although we didn't visit it, we were able to take away a collection of different ales to try at home. This should be an exemplar for people who want to see how hospitality is done well and shows the difference a smiling, polite and well-trained team can make. Thank you to all at the Peacock! We came away feeling happy and rested.

We stayed in the Pilgrim room which was spacious enough,  beautifully decorated and very well equipped with coffee machine, kettle and wide selection of teas. There is a huge scone with jam and cream awaiting  guests on arrival. Dressing  gowns and slippers are provided so everything is there for a comfortable stay. TV has a streaming service but you need to have a subscription. Very comfortable bed gives a good night’s  sleep. There is a huge modern bathroom with top quality toiletries supplied. Movement activated floor level lights are a useful aid if you wish to get up during  the night. Breakfast is a set menu but you can take multiple options and also opt for smaller portions so very substantial. Location is terrific with super views all around the hotel. All the staff without exception were great. Value for money as regards the room is excellent. We really enjoyed our short stay.

We would say dinner is a little on the pricey side, with a salmon main course around  £26 but the room is remarkable value for the quality on offer, so overall it represents very good value for the service provided.

The room was lovely, good levels of cleanliness and facilities, the bed was large and comfortable. The shower room was a great experience. We had breakfast and dinner, both were great value.

It's not really a dislike, but it did impair our sleep. despite a very well placed curtain by the door to the room, outside lighting was extremely bright and shone through the small window of the door. This did make sleeping difficult, which wasn't helped by the rather loud emergency alarm and red flashing beacon in the early hours of the morning going off. I was told at breakfast it was likely to be the staff opening up the premises, I hope that doesn't happen all the time! As I say minor issues, just unlucky on the day.

We stayed in the Boudicca room. It was amazing. They really have thought of absolutely everything. This room is superior to rooms in other hotels which would cost twice the price. For our meal, my wife had the fish pie and I had the pork. Both were very fresh and cooked to perfection. For breakfast, my wife had the squashed avocado on sourdough toast and I had eggs Benedict to die for. It was delicious and so well presented, we sent photos to family members. The view from the terrace is reminiscent of a water painting with low mist in the valleys. The whole experience was beyond 5* and at a very sensible price. We would definitely stay here again and will be recommending it to friends and family.

Having to leave. We could have stayed forever!

Beautiful country pub, our room was in an annexe building with it's own entrance but joined to the pub. Room was of a high standard and felt really luxurious with robes and slippers, comfy bed, scone and jam, coffee maker and proper glassware. Lovely large bathroom with toiletries. Everything was spotlessly clean and the room was very quiet. Warm welcome from the staff. Meal in the evening was really tasty and more than adequate portions - we were pleased we booked a table though as it was really busy for a Tuesday night in February! Breakfast was equally good the next morning. Fantastic location overlooking rolling hills, we would have loved to explore but didn't have time. Plenty of parking and electric car chargers available.

Warmly welcomed by lovely, friendly staff. Our room, Northdown, was perfect - comfortable bed, modern bathroom with rainfall shower and a freshly baked scone greeted us! We ate Sunday dinner in the restaurant - good portions but we would have liked more vegetables especially as it was one of the more expensive Sunday roasts we have eaten recently. Breakfast, included in our room rate, was delicious. We would stay here again.

More vegetables with the Sunday dinner. A separate parking area for residents would be good as the pub was very busy and we struggled to find somewhere to park.

Bathroom was beautiful, lovely views. Breakfast was excellent and served late enough to have a lay in. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was serviced every day and left very clean. Good choice of evening meals. Plenty of parking. Would heartily recommend.

Felt like there were too many lights in the room at night. LEDs on all safety alarms and heating controls were very bright and safety lights on skirtings kept lighting up every time I moved in bed which was annoying. I ended up putting books in front of the low wall sensors.

This was my second time at this great place, previously we were in the adjacent Barley Cottage and on this trip in the Goldings room in the main building. We must say it was an absolute delight from start to finish of our two nights stay. Owen ran the place like clockwork, nothing was too much trouble. As for Georgina the Chef and her team in the kitchen, what a top job, over the four meals they prepared for us, we thoroughly enjoyed all courses. The beers brewed on the premises are of a very high quality and are the icing on the very well turned out cake. Thank you and congratulations to the Peacock @ Barlow team.
