I loved the huge super comfy bed and luxurious bedding. The shower was large and powerful with lovely hot water. Our breakfast was lovely and tasty with good quality produce. We also had meals in the evening which were also very tasty with plenty of choice. The bar was very welcoming and comfortable and the staff so friendly and helpful. It was really cosy sitting by the log burner watching the rain lashing down outside.

Our room wasn't serviced at all during our 3 night stay which we didn't mind, but we would have liked the beverages to have been replaced daily instead of having to ask for them at the bar.

the staff were very friendly and the food excellent we had soup on the saturday lunch time that scored a 10/10 and that meant we had high hopes for the sunday breakfast... we weren't disappointed.

if I have any negative comments to make there are only 2. 1st getting on the Wifi was a little flaky at first, not sure if they were having problems generally on the Saturday. but once in the room and logged in was fine. and 2nd and not really the hotels fault neither my partner or I could get any mobile phone signal at or close to the hotel, which would be great if you want to "get away from it all", the downside was that getting a route in the car using the APP on my phone didn't work until we were a mile down the road. a great way to go exploring...

the room was perfect comfortable and clean shower hose leaked and loss of pressure but was adequate

On arrival we were told we had to pay £15 per dog per night which wasn't on the booking even though I emailed to say we had dogs .It only said dogs were welcome . Breakfast was very disappointing we were asked if we would like orange juice but it never came and poached eggs on dry toast on top of sliced avocado was tasteless and not well presented

Amazing hosts, very lovely, friendly, and attentive and made us feel so welcome! Took our breakfast order the night before to make sure we were leaving on time in the morning! Lovely clean facilities with amazing food served in the pub for dinner and breakfast! Cant fault the host or the facilities at all. Very cosy pub and extra points for the lovely Christmas decorations.

This didn't bother me, but if you are a light sleeper, you can hear some road traffic, but it didn't affect me one bit!

The welcome was professional and accommodating, (Earl Grey tea supplied on request). Rooms where supplied with good tea/coffee facilities and lovely biscuits!! Beds where very comfortable, natural quilts appreciated. Shower was very good and great thick bath towels. The Bramley toiletries where excellent. The breakfast was very good, with a wide choice of menu options, served and cooked with a smile! We liked the Orchard Thieves Cider!!

What's not to like!

Outstanding stay here! Highly recommend! It's a lovely pub, in a beautiful area in nature, the staff were exceptionally friendly, the room and bed were extremely comfortable. Everything was outstanding. I haven't experienced a place that good for a very long time. I've tried to write a review that does it justice but don't think words do it justice.

An enjoyable short stay - the room was cosy, with a comfortable bed and hot shower. Breakfast and dinner were delicious and staff at the hotel were very friendly and happy to help. There is no phone signal at the hotel or local area but there is free wifi for guests to use.

The bathroom pump/fan was quite loud and at points the room did smell slightly drainy.

We loved the room and bathroom. We loved the friendly owners and that it was dog friendly. We loved the super location - Exmoor and outstanding areas moments away.

We loved it. If anything, we thought this pub undersold itself. The owners know lots about the local walks and history. Also, they could make more about what is on offer to rooms fron the bar.

Warm welcome from Michelle, the new owner, who was great host and clearly is well liked by all locals. Historic famous inn with lots of charm and super hospitality. My room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. Pillows so nice! 😊 Excellent breakfast in morning to round off a wonderful short stay.

It was really welcoming to me and my dog. The food was outstanding as was the location. Plenty of parking. Would stay again. All the staff were lovely.

Wish the room had a bath. The towels however were white, soft and huge. Heated towel rail. Would have been useful to have a fridge in the room or a cool box.
