I had 2 bookings for a total of 6 rooms. The majority of the family party had stayed at the Fisherman’s Cot before and this is the main reason for booking again. I did not stay there myself but all the party found the property in an idea spot between for a family wedding in a nearby village but is placed well for Tiverton, Crediton and Exeter. The property is in an idyllic spot on the banks of a river and they found the staff all friendly and helpful. The Management Team were very helpful on booking to get a room on the ground floor and by the main entrance for one of the party who is partially blind. All rooms were clean, tidy and all that is needed.

On asking the family if they had any other comments, only one said that although the bathroom was fine it would benefit to an upgrade. I did bring my mother there for lunch and my only observations is that the bar and restaurant is not very assessable for anyone in a wheelchair as my mother was.

Location and staff perfect. Food was outstanding.

Brilliant place, but let down by small details. Room was tired looking, bath panel needed replacing was ruined by water ingress. Patio outside very uneven due to tree roots. Old rotten fence panels. These big brewer premises need to look at finer detail. These are minor and frustrating because it could be perfect. It's worth going, the location is beautiful and food outstanding. Drinks bit pricey but that seems the normal now!

We loved the surroundings. The Fishermans Cot is located right next to the old Bickleigh Bridge and weir which spans the River Exe. It is an an idyllic location nestled in a beautiful steep wooded valley with plenty of walking opportunities. Bickleigh village, the mill, and the castle are all within walking distance. Take care when walking as the main road and bridge are both narrow in places and can be busy with traffic. There is plenty of parking available and there are frequent bus services into Tiverton and Exeter from the bus stop outside. For our main meals, we opted for the carvery. The food was of good quality with generous portion sizes. We had the option of eating either inside or outdoors. It was an enjoyable dining experience.

We had a twin room with ensuite. The facilities were good and we had a nice view of the river from the window. The only downside is that the ceiling in places was sloped, particularly over the beds and also the en-suite toilet which meant when we stood or sat up, we frequently ended up knocking our heads.

The look of the property and it's position was stunning, the rooms were clean but tired, could do with a spruce up, which would have made our stay exceptional, on the food side, the pub was under pressure due to a school sports day, they did not let the pub know when so the kitchens, were pushed and they ran out of things, this was not there fault, that was firmly with the school for not supporting the pub by giving them the heads up so they could prepare, but the staff were great polite friendly and professional, doing very well under extreme pressure. Stay was good 👍

The loo flush was broken, and as I stated the rooms are tired.

. The Fisherman's Cot is located right on the banks of the river Exe, a really nice location, with views of the busy ancient bridge and river from the restaurant and outside seating areas. Our room out the back was clean and comfortable..

Our room was out the back, and the external areas of our room were showing a lack of maintenance and care. There was no nice aera to sit outside, a wooden fence blocked the view of the river. The restaurant was very busy at dinner time and the service a bit slow because of this. The photograph of the property is taken from an area with no easy access.

A very quaint, thatched roof pub and restaurant with rooms attached in 2 smaller lodges. The lodges do look a little tired from the outside and not entirely promising! However, our room was warm with a comfortable bed, good pillows and a nice selection of tea and coffee. It was a good size room, too. The shower was hot and powerful. The staff were very friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. The menu was good with some interesting and tasty vegetarian options (not just the usual veg burger and lasagne!). I had the halloumi flatbread which was huge and delicious! Desserts were also lovely as were the cocktails. The pub has a lovely view of the river. Breakfast was also tasty and plenty to set us up for the day.

My only minor complaint is that this is another hotel that is unmanned at night. We had a noisy family in the room below and fortunately they were all in bed quite early. However, had they not all gone to bed we would have had to resort to the 'emergency' number. If I were staying here alone I wouldn't have felt very confident getting to the room given that it was in a separate building accessed from the back along a dark drive, particularly knowing that there would be no-one on site if there was a problem.

Beautiful location. Bedroom very clean and comfortable. Staff very friendly .

There were areas that really needed redecorating and fixing.3 dirty and ripped chairs left in dinning room together.Toilets very shabby/worn.Our room had sliding door to outside garden area .Unfortunately we didn't feel it ok to leave open, while asleep (extremely hot ,and usually sleep with window open at night)as anyone could have got in as no lock on outside gate to outside area of restaurant.Entrance door lock to our Lodge (14 ) was broken.

Staff need more training. Leaving a young girl on her own behind the bar unable to serve anyone, whilst the senior member of staff checked people in was not very professional. I booked a double room was given a twin. Eventually given Room 20, it was lovely, but, lid on kettle broken, un able to flush toilet withough having to put fingers into systern to flush it, button not screwed into systern , Hot water took an age to come throughto the shower Outside looks a bit neglected, needs sprucing up. Lots of potential tho x Im sure we'll be back

great location for dinner -- by the river. LOVE THE PLACE... BEEN OFTEN...but..

menus is very "fried food " orientated no option to swap chips for salad no option to have any side salad with any meal. only options were to add fried onion rings or sweet potato fries as well as various breads. ignoring customer preferences for healthier options... missing customer service satisfaction.

Food excellent staff a bit wandering around not paying to attention to customers needs looking at mobile phones rather than doing their job when other certain staff are running around fulfilling their jobs and there's bar staff and other staff who go from morning till night doing their job............
