. The Fisherman's Cot is located right on the banks of the river Exe, a really nice location, with views of the busy ancient bridge and river from the restaurant and outside seating areas. Our room out the back was clean and comfortable..

Our room was out the back, and the external areas of our room were showing a lack of maintenance and care. There was no nice aera to sit outside, a wooden fence blocked the view of the river. The restaurant was very busy at dinner time and the service a bit slow because of this. The photograph of the property is taken from an area with no easy access.

A very quaint, thatched roof pub and restaurant with rooms attached in 2 smaller lodges. The lodges do look a little tired from the outside and not entirely promising! However, our room was warm with a comfortable bed, good pillows and a nice selection of tea and coffee. It was a good size room, too. The shower was hot and powerful. The staff were very friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. The menu was good with some interesting and tasty vegetarian options (not just the usual veg burger and lasagne!). I had the halloumi flatbread which was huge and delicious! Desserts were also lovely as were the cocktails. The pub has a lovely view of the river. Breakfast was also tasty and plenty to set us up for the day.

My only minor complaint is that this is another hotel that is unmanned at night. We had a noisy family in the room below and fortunately they were all in bed quite early. However, had they not all gone to bed we would have had to resort to the 'emergency' number. If I were staying here alone I wouldn't have felt very confident getting to the room given that it was in a separate building accessed from the back along a dark drive, particularly knowing that there would be no-one on site if there was a problem.

Staff need more training. Leaving a young girl on her own behind the bar unable to serve anyone, whilst the senior member of staff checked people in was not very professional. I booked a double room was given a twin. Eventually given Room 20, it was lovely, but, lid on kettle broken, un able to flush toilet withough having to put fingers into systern to flush it, button not screwed into systern , Hot water took an age to come throughto the shower Outside looks a bit neglected, needs sprucing up. Lots of potential tho x Im sure we'll be back

In a perfect position by the river and set quite well back from the road. The staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant seemed well frequented by locals as well as holiday-makers - we ate there once and found the food good quality and plentiful. Sitting in a deck chair in the garden watching the river flow by was a real treat and I would certainly return and recommend.

Low ceiling levels in upstairs rooms are often a feature of beautiful old buildings like this, so it certainly doesn't rate as a complaint, but I can see taller guests might find it a mild head-bumping inconvenience....especially in the dark.

Lovely lady at check-in made sure we had tables booked for the meals we wanted in their very busy restaurant. Room was great exceeded my expectations, nice comfortable bed and plenty of hot water. We were in one of the lodges at the far end of the property so were able to park right next to the door, which was great as it was raining heavily. Dinner was well cooked and very tasty, we both had Hunters Chicken. Breakfast was also good, a nice selection of croissants and pain au chocolat, cereals and toast. Coffee was good, and I had a magnificant mushroom and cheese omelette. Super place to stay and would certainly stay there again if we were in the area.

Stunning Location, good to have the pub restaurant on site. The staff were lovely and helpful, Comfortable beds with good mattresses. Good quality cooked breakfast.

Though the staff were pleasant, at busy times, there weren't enough of them, which led to long waiting times for food, particularly in the evening. Cooked breakfast good, but buffet options a bit limited, no orange juice during our stay, fresh fruit choices limited. Breakfast hot drink area is very poorly lit,

We only stayed for 1 night, but we really enjoyed it. Our room had a view of the bridge and river right outside. We had a super king bed, which was very comfortable and it was so peaceful we slept really well. Had an evening meal, which was very good, and my husband had a continental breakfast. Should mention Lil, who served us in the morning. Lovely cheerful person, very helpful, and even though it was busy, she still made us feel that we were her only customers. Will stay again when in the area.

Room located along the car park, other-side of the kitchen. Room had small patio and garden, and access via gate to the pub garden. Comfortable bed. Shower over bath. Staff doing a great job as it was extremely busy on a lovely sunny day. Room rate good value for money with free parking. Great view from restaurant and some rooms of the river and bridge.

Stair rail to outside door a bit rickety. Could do with a repair. As it was a lovely sunny day, pub restaurant was packed all afternoon. As we went for evening meal, there were no choices for carvery meat, other than turkey or gammon, and no steaks on offer. So we had burgers instead, but unfortunately too well done.

I was very ill so it was lovely there was a bath tub in the room.

The website said that they weren't serving food on xmas day so I just left it. When we arrived, they were serving food and asked if we'd pre-booked. The answer was no as i didnt know you could. The one lass said we could eat as we were staying there, so we sat down and waited for the menu. When nothing came, I asked again and they said that they couldn't give us anything to eat because we didnt prebook. I completely understand, but that was pretty dissapointing

Breakfast & evening meals were very good with large portions. It sometimes pays to book an evening meal as it can get very busy. Although the weather was foul for our 2 night stay, it really is a magical setting, right next to the River Exe & a beautiful stone road bridge

The main building where my room was could do with a bit of TLC. My windows were quite old, didn't seal very well & let the cold in! However, the rooms accessible from outside the building seemed modern, warm & comfortable
