Although this hotel is in the middle of nowhere in a very quiet village the locals support it in spades. We expected to walk into maybe a handful of local boys propping up the bar, however the bar was full of very friendly cheerful locals. The landlord and landlady Steve & Mandy were grafting there socks off with a bar full drinkers and a big kid’s birthday party! But still had time to welcome us get us sorted with drinks and checked into are smashing cosy room. The food was tremendous and good value for money and the service and staff were excellent thanks Mandy and Steve for a great stay.

The owners were lovely people and fantastic hosts and went above and beyond ensuring that we had an enjoyable stay. The rooms were lovely, clean, and stylishly decorated. The beds were amazingly comfy and the area was very quiet so we had a really good nights sleep. There was everything in the accomodation, ie tea and coffee making items, tv, hairdryer and toiletries to make our stay more comfortable. All the meals were excellent and good value for money, for example the generous breakfast was very tasty and well presented. The location was ok, there didn`t seem to be much there but we had to travel to Westpoint to attend an event that went on all day into the evening, so we didn`t have time to do any exploring.

It was just unfortunate that there wasn`t a lift, but totally understandable with the Thorverton Arms being a listed building.

The owners were incredibly welcoming, they let us into our rooms to change for a wedding well before the check in time, they hadn’t been serviced at that stage but even so they were more than accommodating. The landlord even dropped us off at the wedding venue! The pub was quaint and cosy, the rooms clean and very comfortable with smart TV, tea, coffee, hot chocolate in the room. Comfy bed, spacious bathroom with great water pressure for the shower and BIG towels (which I never find anywhere!)! When we got back from the wedding the landlord was friendly and excited to hear about our day/night. The next morning we were welcomed downstairs with tea/coffee. We hadn’t booked breakfast (expecting severe hangovers) but really wished we had when we saw and smelled what had been served for the table next to us. We will definitely stay there again if we’re ever in the area, would love to see it and use their garden in the summer. Everything was very relaxed and we were welcomed as though we’d been locals for years.

The ONLY thing I could pick out is some of the wallpaper was a little tired, but the overall decor was clean and bright but didn’t take away from the character of the building, a quintessential English pub!

Simple and efficient check-in. A basic but clean room with a very comfy bed and clean shower/toilet. Tea and coffee making facilities. Friendly pub - not always the locals are happy to chat! Good pub food and excellent beer. A bit out of the way but prominent in village. Decent car park.

My only criticism is that the shower room had been closed up - I suspect a few days - and there was a slight odour in there (no window). Once I had the door open for a while and bedroom window also open the smell disappeared. However I would be happy to stay again.

Steve and Mandy and their staff are amazing hosts! We loved our visit to the Thorverton Arms and its village setting. It served as a great base to see historical locations in the area, visit the south coast and beaches, as well as being near to Exeter. The food in the restaurant was fresh with very large portions. Lorraine is delightful offering a friendly demeanour and helpful and approachable attitude. The pub portion of the TA is lively and friendly as well.

was a very quick stay family gathering in exeter . payed a lot less than other places , with the most amazing full english , so quiet n peacefull village , realised i had left my vehicle door unlocked all night , not a problem , bus stop rite opositt for town , close to m5 which i needed perfect , wouldnt hesitate in the future . wishing Mandy ,Steve and team all good wishes. 30 mins bus ride to Exeter or Tiverton.

I LOVE this pub/hotel. I have to travel to various cities for work and I am so glad I found this spot! Very safe and welcoming and the beds are SPOTLESS! I’ve travelled to Exeter twice for work and stayed here both times. Slightly outside the centre about 10 mins by car but worth it. Amazing priced rooms, so clean , spotless bed sheets. They provide water bottles, coffee, tea and hot chocolate in the rooms which all have beautiful decor bits such as homely mugs and pillows. 100% would come back again and again!! There’s a guy local in the village that only charges £10 to take you in and out of the centre too. Lovely chap !

Mandy and Steve are extemely friendly and helpful hosts, doing everything to ensure a comfortable and cosy stay at the inn. I felt part of the family after only one night and hope to be back soon! The food was amazing – I enjoyed grilled sardines followed by wild mushroom linguine. There are loads of different and interesting options for all tastes. They had just installed new mattresses when I stayed, which were very comfortable indeed. The rooms also have everything you need.

Lovely village Inn, booked last minute so wasn't sure what it would be like, but it exceeded expectations! Hosts were lovely. A warm welcome, well organised, and the rooms upstairs smelled fresh and lovely. The food was fantastic... Great chips! Also interesting wines, which is refreshing to see. Bed was comfy.

Nothing really. We thought no products had been provided for the shower, then spotted them afterwards in a basket.

A very warm welcome and we were escorted to our room. There was major work on the outside of the building but this didn’t cause us any issues. We were attending a local event so didn’t eat or drink at the pub that evening. Breakfast was excellent. Plentiful and tasty. All the staff we met were friendly and overall we enjoyed our stay.

It was a Saturday night and the pub was very busy and very lively when we returned at about 11pm. The party atmosphere continued until well after midnight and as our room was above the bar it wasn’t ideal. Despite that we enjoyed our stay.
