Paying for overnight parking. Bar area ok but not too inviting.

I thought the breakfast and dinner meals were very good. Every staff member was very helpful and friendly. The bed was very comfortable and the room a good size.

The shower was a bit stiff to move and wouldn't stay up the post and the shower head not easy to get in the right position. Otherwise it was a well-appointed bathroom.

The beds are comfortable, the staff very nice, the food at the restaurant good, the bus stop 2 mn away.

The fact that although there is an elevator to reach the floor, however on the floor there are many steps up and down to reach the room, so for someone with back problems and a heavy suitcase it might be an issue.

Beautiful old hotel in good condition. Staff helpful.

Only criticism is the parking charges. 15 UK pd per day. I think this very high given the parking is just land around the hotel. Also would be good if they offered an inclusive breakfast price.

It did not bother us but this is situated slightly out of the centre on the walk back is up hill so any mobility issues it would be difficult

We really enjoyed staying here. We had great views from the balcony - although we couldn't use it. The beds were comfy and the shower was powerful and hot. We had an excellent breakfast. Staff were attentive and friendly and allowed us to check-in early at 3pm.

Our only issue was the parking - £15 to stay on site. There was only 1 space by the time we checked in which was earlier than their check-in at 4pm. There is free parking on the street after 7pm but with more research and google maps we found where we could park within a walkable distance. We then moved the car to get our things to park outside before 7pm as it allows 1 hour free parking within 9-7pm. One of the questions people asked on booking.com had an answer stated it was free and available - but this has since changed.

The room was clean and comfortable, the rook was topped up of amenities daily - the biscuits were a lovely touch. Only downside was the parking was £15 a night (we knew there was an additional charge but never stated how much until we arrived at property) and the WiFi did not work despite raising concerns with staff. The room had a tv with access to basic channels - not Netflix or player , so we didn't spend much time in the room as unable to get online, which was a bit of a hassle when trying to organise plans & stay in touch with friends and family we were supposed to be meeting. We made great use of the bus (31) which ran every 15-30mins during the day & night as the hotel is on a steep hill & with all the walking in the day it was definitely needed! The bus stops were located right outside hotel.

Parking could be a little cheaper in my opinion this added £45 on to our stay, WiFi needs fixing/upgrading & the Netflix extension in the rooms fixed to enjoy cosy evenings!

A fabulous, grand building. Quirky halls and beautiful tall ceilings. We stayed in a family room (room 219). We had a beautiful bathroom with bath and overhead shower. Big bed - I’d have said bigger than a king size, and a turned out sofa bed. Tea and coffee making facilities, fridge and hairdryer. Everything we needed!

The stress of the parking! Fantastic that the hotel has parking, but feel it could be less stressful with a pre booking system! The previous reviews had us worried and although we got the “last space” (2 more cars squeezed in after us!) we felt we couldn’t move the car for fear of losing the space.

Staff were really friendly and engaging. The hotel was absolutely beautiful and impeccably clean. Food was delicious. The hotel was peaceful even though it was fully booked and it was a really nice relaxed stay

The food and drink prices were a little bit steep. The parking can be difficult. We got a space ok on arrival but went out for the day the next day and we struggled for parking. The hotel description just says parking available at a charge but didn't make clear that there was limited parking and it wasn't guaranteed until after you had already booked the hotel. This information should be clearer at the start
