Lovely lovely stay, lovely room and evening meal. Would definitely recommend and return.

Difficult to say it’s something we didn’t like but it’s something which struck us. A very young team when we were there, somewhat off-hand but not rude, and we felt they overlooked the importance of the customer by focusing on laughs and chats between themselves, whilst the customer was waiting. When bread had run out at breakfast, it was a fair accompli rather than an apology. That said, we’d still go back, we just thought it was important to highlight.

Charming. Warm. Picturesque.

A little noisy but understandable. Room was a bit small and bathroom was across the landing so not so good value for money. TV only had one channel. We did not complain because we only wanted to watch the news.

The location and the staff. Pretty village. The staff were really nice and made us sandwiches for our early start as we would be missing breakfast. They left them in the fridge for us. I do think the food was quite pricey.I had the fish sharing platter as a main and it was £17 but didn’t come with any bread - literally just a small amount of fish on a board. But then I had the cheese plate and that was really good value and was plentiful. Maybe I chose wrong - the fish was very tasty but just a bit small.

My only negative comment is that people leaving the pub were quite loud and shouty which was a little annoying as we had to be up at 5am.

Great place to sit outside in the sun and have a drink. Very good cooked breakfast in the morning.

Unfortunately our room was directly above the kitchen, and there didn't seem to be anything in the way of soundproofing. We could hear all the general kitchen noises plus the music the staff were playing and singing along to. No chance of a lie in as the kitchen staff started around 7am on the Sunday morning with loud banging, I can only imagine they were trying to break up something that was frozen. The slatted bed wasn't the greatest and we did wake up with our neck and shoulders aching.

Lovely and Quaint. Room was clean and cosy. Breakfast choices were good. The cooked breakfast was cooked to perfection (imo). The lovely young lady (sorry I didn’t get her name)who hosted breakfast over our stay. Was fantastic friendly, accommodating great hospitality skills. Loved the Autumnal decor throughout the downstairs. Nice little stay in a country village.

Our room was right up the very top so quite a few stairs to climb. Was a bit off the beaten track so if not having use of a car. It meant we had to use taxi’s to get to different destinations.

Lovely old pub in a beautiful village. Very comfortable, with great food and an excellent selection of ales. Very friendly and helpful staff. Close to Frome and Bath.

The only room left was the one with the external bathroom. Although private to our room, it did mean walking accross the public corridor and in future we would choose one of the other - ensuite - rooms. One very minor and easy to implement suggestion: some oil on the bedroom and bathroom hinges. Late at night they are very noisy!

Was a lovely location very picturesque We stayed as we were going to a wedding and had a few extra days away All the staff were friendly but Phobe went above and beyond as we couldnt get a taxi to the wedding ( not many available but we didnt know this ) She actually took us to the venue and saved us from being late Would go back x

Lots of flies around but it was hot and you are in the country. maybe they could get one of those fly zappers

Everything was exceptional. My Dad and I got there, and our first impression was "crikey, we've got to go through that tiny archway" to the carpark. Then when we got inside, we were amazed. My Dad was given a free room upgrade. Sam, showed us to our rooms and we were gobsmacked. The outside of the hotel does not prepare you for the interior of the building, because the decor is stunning. The staff are so friendly. It is a family and friends run business. They can't do enough for you. The food is amazing. Everything cooked fresh to order. The portions are huge, and well worth every penny. This is a little gem in a beautiful sleepy village with a castle on the doorstep.

Nothing to complain about.

The room was lovely, the staff were welcoming and the breakfast was plentiful. The location was also beautiful and they had made an extra effort to put a table decoration out for my birthday which was much appreciated.

I was charged for a pie with a pint or glass of wine instead of the just the pie which I ordered. I was not offerred the pint or glass of wine and had already ordered a bottle of wine for the table. I did ask for gravy with my pie which did not come and it made the meal very dry. I should have asked for it again but I did not want to spoil my birthday evening. The shower was either scalding hot or freezing cold so neither of us could have one which was a shame. We could have made these things known to staff at the time but did not want to spoil our stay.

We have wanted to stay here for a long time and it did not disappoint. We didn't eat at the George because we were visiting family but the reason we chose to stay here was because on a previous visit to the area another landlady recommended it, for food. The staff were all lovely and extremely friendly.

Nothing, there was a note in our room explaining that as it was an extremely old building and a pub with rooms it may get a little noisy especially. This was not a problem when we stayed, it was so quiet, despite the pub being busy.
