A well cooked tasty breakfast but did not like boxed orange juice. The evening menu, although limited, had tasty dishes. Hotel set in peaceful, well kept gardens with a gazebo which we ate in. The staff were excellent. We had two rooms overlooking the lawns so both light and airy. The staff were especially polite and attentive. A special shout- out to Molly and Ashley.

The bathroom with no windows had an unpleasant smell through lack of airflow. The shower in the other bedroom, although in a big bathroom, was of a very strange design which crowded the user into one corner. A second hand held shower was needed to avoid having soaking hair from the rain shower. The bar was somewhat lacking. There was no bubbly ( despite being on the drinks menu) and only a poor supply of rose too.

The location was perfect for visiting the beach in Hastings, and the venue itself was beautifully maintained — green, clean, and peaceful. Our room was quite warm, but a fan was thoughtfully provided, which helped.

The lady at reception and serving breakfast the next morning came across as quite unfriendly and unwelcoming. She seemed visibly unhappy to be there, and during breakfast, we had to ask for every single item — including basic things like cutlery and butter for the toast — while all the other tables already had them. There was also no ice available for coffee, despite the 30-degree heat outside, which was disappointing.

Beautiful quiet location with room looking onto pleasant garden with plenty of wildlife also enjoying the space. Good sized room, very clean and comfortable. Communal sitting room was comfortable and warm.

Breakfast room settings were cramped. The breakfast options were disappointing and not particularly well cooked. Had breakfast not been included in the tariff and I'd had to pay separately I would have considered this poor value for money. Staff seemed a bit aloof and inexperienced, but they seemed very young.

Great setting for the hotel - lovely grounds. Plenty of parking. Room was very clean and staff very friendly. There is a bar which serves draught lager. Breakfasts were very good - I had the full English breakfast - all good quality stuff and perfectly cooked. Didn’t try the evening meals. If you’re wine tasting at the Carr-Taylor Vineyard the hotel is just a mile and a quarter away. So it is walkable along a narrow road and a slightly busier road as you near the vineyard.

Not much around the hotel in terms of food and drink - you’ll need to drive. When we booked the only room left was a compact room - I’ve had to downgrade my ratings based on the fact that this room is just too small for two people. You can only get into the double bed on one side as the other is against a wall. It really is suitable for only one person. In fairness to the hotel, they do explain this in their room descriptions, but it is slightly worse than I envisaged. Book one of the other rooms and you will, no doubt, have a great stay.

The location was fantastic with everything luxurious , a jewel in the country and would book again

The only minor thing was the menu was out dated with the online suggesting that it had certain meals but on the restaurant menu was very limited ! It's a shame because I think they are missing a trick with having a fantastic menu would complete the claverton hotel . It's seems the chef couldn't or can't be bothered with the food , with things on the menu are very basic but okay if you were eating in a cafe . It's a shame but there is room for improvement because they have a fantastic professional kitchen.

We stayed here for a party, food was excellent, venue was beautiful, bed very comfortable. Nice touch with the little bottles of products in the bathroom. Breakfast was lovely good choice for everyone and staff were friendly and polite. The only reason I didn’t score the maximum is because there was nowhere in the bathroom to put anything and the layout in the bedroom was a bit odd as no clear surface to put anything on such as makeup bag etc. otherwise I would have scored a10.

The location is fantastic and just round the corner from several beauty spots! Peaceful is an understatement to say the least… so peaceful that the deer and rabbits joined us for breakfast outside the dining room! What an experience!👏🏻 We have stayed here twice and have loved our experience both times. It was a pleasure to stay again and will definitely be returning!

Wouldn’t change a thing… Couldn’t fault it!

Parking was great. Our room was spacious, clean, wonderful view of the garden. Staff were friendly but very young and needed a bit of guidance and training.

There were lack of options of beer and options for certain items at dinner. Breakfast kitchen ran out of brown bread and it was only 45 mins into service. mirror in the bathroom and the showered was too high for someone who vertically challenged🤭

Good breakfast, quiet night and lovely drive into Battle

When we arrived there was no space to park in front of the hotel. My husband has a disability so it was hard to pull the suitcases across the gravel and i then went into the overflow, It was dark and I was concerned about leaving my car there on its own so I parked further down the drive. A staff member later told me that there was a space in front so I then moved it.

The hotel was lovely, off a main road but you didn’t hear the traffic. The room was spacious and the bed really comfortable, would have liked to take the mattress home with me 😂

Nothing really, if I’m being really picky, there were a few cobwebs 🕸️ in the bathroom behind the toilet and the top of the wardrobe was very dusty 7/10 if I was doing ‘Four in a bed’ 😅
