The house is a Victorian-style house but so often, the interior doesn't match the exterior. This one was such a surprise. Every detail--the wallpaper, carpeting, furniture, and beautiful decorating accents--made it obvious that the owner(s) had carefully and lovingly curated this home over many decades. Breakfast was served on beautiful vintage dishes and tea in silver tea pots in a cozy dining parlor surrounded by antiques and flowers. The host was kind and attentive. The bed, comfortable. No traffic or drama, plenty of parking. It was the perfect stop...we both wish we had another day there...not to explore Hastings, but to explore and enjoy the house and garden!

The host was very welcoming. Enjoyed everything .. the house and gdn and an enjoyable breakfast too.. plenty of options to choose from. Just such a fascinating Victorian property and definitely worthy of a visit. Full of character which ever part of the house you ended up in. Every part of that house was decorated in detail and obviously lot of sheer hard work went into restoring it. Would definitely come again but with my daughter who would love it from the pics she’s seen.

Just a lot to take in with the furnishings/ornaments/artifacts, religious iconography around the house but what a great insight.

The house is beautiful, inside and outside. The attention to detail, to create a Victorian home, surpassed our expectations, and it was like going back in time, with so much to look at and absorb. We were made to feel welcome straightaway, by Paul, the owner. Each of our bedrooms was unique and in addition to the beauty, there was also comfort, cleanliness and peace there. The breakfast was delicious, and we loved the dining room, tableware and presentation of breakfast. The garden was a fantastic and whimsical surprise, and we are in awe of the dedication to detail and commitment to provide guests with such a relaxing and beautiful time away. The owners are kind, courteous, interesting and professional, and no detail was overlooked by them.

That we hadn't planned to stay longer!

The perfect place for anyone with an interest in history, with every room decorated and presented as though Queen Victoria was still on the throne! The room was comfortable, and the option to use the 'public' rooms: sitting room, music room and study, was appreciated. Breakfast was good and very well presented. Parking was on the road, but there always seemed to be space available. Great location for Battle, Pevensey Castle, Great Dixley House, and many other historic locations within a 40-minute drive.

A truly hidden gem! The rooms and beds were comfortable - lots of incredibly thoughtful touches. We had a great view of the sea and were made very welcome throughout our stay. It was delightful getting to know a few of the other guests during the delicious breakfast. The location was quiet and a stone’s throw from the seaside, beautiful parks and cafes/restaurants. The property itself… the images do not do it justice. Incredible and somehow dust-free! Will definitely be coming back. One night wasn’t enough!

A shower instead of a bath would have been useful. However it’s understandable with the date and use of the building previously that there wasn’t a shower available.

The B&B has an amazing Victorian decor, but it isn't just the large pieces, the mirror over the fireplace, it extends to the smallest of trinkets such as a matchbox cover featuring Tsar Nicolas II. This means that you could spend your entire stay walking through the house finding yourself amazed by another interesting little find; a true Victorian museum. The bed was comfortable with extra blankets if needed, breakfast was delightful served in true Victorian style and the owners were very helpful and always on hand should you need anything.

Not all bathrooms have a shower, some of them only a bath. This wasn't a problem for us however something to consider if you are solely a shower person/couple.

An absolutely stunning house — more like a living museum! The historic interior is filled with incredible antique pieces, from furniture to tableware. We especially loved the beautiful sitting room with a grand piano. Breakfast was served in a charming bay window overlooking the lovely garden. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and kind. We booked a room for three persons including our teenage daughter and the hosts were so kind to let her stay in a separate room for free. Thank you for this unforgettable experience!

The hosts were the heart and soul of the property. I can't begin to tell you how fabulous this place is, especially if you are an antique and story collector like me. The hosts were just amazing and happy to indulge me in my questions and to show me hidden secrets in the house. The gardens are stunning with a plethora of fruit and vegetables with butterflies fluttering about. Just magical. I loved it. The design of the hotel was nothing short of spectacular. Each space had its own personality, elegance and timeless charm. From the richly patterned wallpapers to the carefully curated art pieces, every detail seemed to tell a story. Beyond the beauty, the hotel’s comfort was on par with its aesthetic. My room was HUGE, the bed like a canopied cloud, and the amenities top-notch. There was high-speed Wi-Fi and tea and home made cake served in the drawing room upon arrival.

Nothing, I loved it.

The building, property surroundings, and rooms were all a feast for the eyes. It was such a unique stay with beautiful collections, interiors and an eye for detail. Felt so lucky to have gotten to experience it, let alone stay there. My husband and I found the bed and room very comfortable and the hosts were attentive, accommodating, and made us feel very welcome. Breakfast and again the presentation and beauty in our surroundings were all breathtaking too. We will certainly be back!

This was the second time my partner and I stayed at St Benedict and the reason we came back is because we have never experienced anything quite like this B&B before. Alex and Paul are two of the most attentive, friendly, accommodating hosts we have ever had the pleasure of meeting. The B&B itself is absolutely stunning and full to the brim of Victorian trinkets and artefacts, each piece with its own backstory. Breakfast is served at a large dining table which gives you the opportunity to meet other guests staying at the B&B and chat over coffee and a traditional south coast breakfast of eggs, toast and a kipper, although there are plenty of other options to choose from if this isn't your bag. The area itself is full of history with Hastings right next door to St Leonard's and there are many, many beautiful independent shops to browse, museums to visit, pubs to stop off for a drink at and food to eat. The Crown in Hastings was a personal favourite of ours for food and atmosphere. And of course you have the sea right on your doorstep with a lovely cafe called Goat Ledge serving hot drinks and toasties with delicious vegan options on the menu too. We will definitely be back for a 3rd time and hopefully many more too.

We have zero complaints, everything was wonderful!
