We were given a wonderful welcome from the owners. There is also an outstanding female chef for half the week for whom nothing was too much trouble. We stayed in the ground floor dog-friendly room at the back because we had a private entrance and could sleep in late and it met my reduced mobility needs.

The room needs minor attention to fixtures and fittings. One double socket had minor issues, the handle of the bathroom door tended to stick, the carpet is a little old in that room. We were offered a free upgrade to rooms with a spectacular view and updated decor. We decided to stay put because we had freedom of movement and privacy in our room which worked for us.

A lovely inn. Perfectly placed for hikers, with a window view to Bowerman's Nose (within close walking distance) and a beautiful birch tree. Very clean, tidy, and peaceful. I heard some bird at night and it might have been an owl! Had a very good rest. Good, tasty food (Stilton sauces, yummy hashbrowns (mm)), good cider. Friendly staff (invited me and other guests to a pub quiz!). The breakfast menus had a "hello" in my language, which was a small but dear thing. And there was some good internet, which made my evening.

The plug in the sink was very tightly closed (took some experimenting to open it for drainage, but it worked!)

Great breakfasts - set us up nicely for days of walking on the Tors. The owners are very welcoming. Ten minutes walk from Becky Falls and Hound Tor / Greator / Haytor are a good hour's walk away (or 10 minute drive). Rooms with big windows overlooking countryside or with trees. V comfy beds. Despite also being a (very warm welcoming countryside dog-friendly) pub we found it quietened down every night at 11 and was a very peaceful sleep.

When we arrived we were told we'd had our room upgraded, which would've been wonderful! Except that the upgraded room was 1 king bed, and we'd requested a twin room. Luckily they were able to swap us round with minimal fuss. That is more an issue with how Booking.com connects to other booking systems, I booked a twin room on booking.com and that request didn't make it on to their system. So a bit of advice to others, add to the "additional requests" / "booking notes" boxes, or contact the place directly, if you're looking to book a room with twin beds.

Good location for exploring Dartmoor National Park. Accommodation was very comfortable and clean. Large bedroom with modern ensuite bathroom comfortable bed. Lovely view from the bedroom window. Gary and the team were very welcoming nothing to much trouble to make your stay a pleasant one. We ate at the inn on two occasions food was very good and reasonably priced. Good selection of real ale and local ciders available. Would recommend to anyone wishing to stay in the area. Could not fault our stay in any way.

Everything! The location is just perfect when you long for serenity no matter how brief. The inn itself is full of character, the restaurant with its exposed beams and two log fires with a piano to boot! The room is also spacious for a family and comfortable — it meets our needs for an overnight stay. Gary and James have been extremely welcoming and accommodating. We cannot thank you enough for allowing my girls to use the piano. For that, I am eternally grateful. Highly recommend. We shall be back.

Nothing.

The room is modern and confy - excellent for myself, child and our sausage dog. It has parking and is next to the pub, so no worries about where to go for dinner. The pub offers very good food. We also had delicious breakfast included. It’s very close to nice sites in Dartmoor like Haytor and Becky falls, and for shops and/or a rainy day, the town of Bovey Tracey is 10 minutes drive. James, the person who runs the Kestor Inn, was very helpful and friendly.

Overall, we had a good experience here. Firstly and most importantly, the food was very good, especially the specials - kudos to the chef. The pub has a very cosy atmosphere, and so do the rooms which have nice decor and a nice view outside. The location is very good if you intend to visit Dartmoor Park, plus it's a short car ride to the nearby small towns (and Plymouth). Every member of the staff was kind and accommodating.

Improvement points: cleanliness of the room - we found a couple of long dead spiders and some dust throughout upon arrival. The fact that you couldn't control the temperature of the room was not ideal, as we felt a bit cold during the evenings.

The staff were friendly and attentive. The location was quiet, whilst still being a local community hub, and picturesque with lovely views of Dartmoor. I would suggest approaching from the south (A38), to reduce the time in very narrow roads. The longer route is often quicker. SatNav does not always know best! The room was comfortable and had everything we needed. The food was varied and cooked to perfection, with a quieter area to eat when the bar was busy. We would very happily visit again.

Nothing of note.

A lovely traditional village pub with comfortable rooms, friendly staff and good food. We stayed for a week but there was plenty of choice on the menu for dinner and the breakfasts were exceptionally good. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to return. The location is convenient for the attractions of Dartmoor but also quiet enough to provide some peace and quiet and the sense of staying in a friendly village rather than a busy tourist centre.

Nothing really.

Mine hosts, Gary, Julie and James, very friendly and welcoming. Room (3) was good size with lovely view, plenty of storage and comfy bed. Breakfast was cooked to order and very good. Bar prices reasonable and good selection of food available and cooked to order. Bar also had a friendly atmosphere. The Inn is in a great location if you like a peaceful quiet setting. Not much else around but great for walks. Don`t miss Manaton rocks which is a short walk via the church yard. Also Becky Falls nearby, well worth a visit. Would certainly recommend and be happy to return.
