the view is spectacular, we had a junior suite on the second floor with 3 large windows with sea view which is captivating. The room itself had recently been renovated along with the hallways all with new carpeting and fresh paintwork. It's an example of how some other U.K. hotel rooms are in need updating. the size of the room and furnishing is faultless. Car parking along the private road in front of the hotel is adequate. You need to be fairly fit as it's quite hilly surrounding the hotel which in itself is a very impressive building. would definitely stay again. We were on bed breakfast basis and breakfast is excellent with a varied choice of food..
evening meals were somewhat limited and expensive as too the drinks. £18.00 for a pint and large wine is expensive in my view. The hotel opposite offers and much more choice of menu and better value. Only 5 mins in a taxi (£6.50) will take into the Torquay with many restaurants to choose from. Also there's a bus stop just outside the main entrance, useful if you can use your bus pass!

Excellent choice of English and Continental breakfast. Any combination possible. Staff gracious and attentive. All cooked well and and very much enjoyed. The terrace was very relaxing and peaceful with a lovely view of sea and a good choice of light bites for lunch too. The outdoor swimming pool was an ideal temperature and lovely for swimming in. Plenty of loungers for lying /sitting on. The grounds were quite extensive, and well maintained with an assortment of beautiful flowers and shrubs everywhere. Loved the sea views and little path down to the Meadfoot beach below.
The indoor pool is ok for swimming in but in need of an upgrade. The changing facilities are limited and the paintwork dreary. No toilets accessible on the ground floor. They are situated in the basement near the Health Club and indoor swimming pool, accessed by going along a narrow passage and down the stairs. Although the food served was good the menu choices for dinner in the evening were the same for several days.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel and we have said a few times we will return The staff were attentive , the food was lovely and the facilities on site were exceptional on site too Lovely views from hotel. You would also mistake as being abroad. It had a lovely chilled and relaxed vibe too. It was actually sad to go.
I had a real issue with the cleanliness of the room The rooms weren’t throughly cleaned as there was a fly still on the window sill from the day before which was dead and biscuit wrappers still on the side too I had a nose bleed on of the nights and I woke to blood on my pillow. The rooms was “cleaned” the next day but the bloody pillow was still there. They also lied to reception one day when we asked for toilet roll that we said it was ok to not clean our room when in fact we did not say that. I was deeply upset by this and was upset for a few days and I hate to do seen as a liar. I did tell the manager this and she reassured me not to worry but I couldn’t shift it and felt upset. . It’s like they rush in and out to finish on time. It was the only thing that let the hotel down

My recent stay at the Osborne Hotel was absolutely wonderful—this hotel has quickly become one of my favourite places in the UK. From the moment I arrived, I felt like I had stepped into a different world: dramatic sea views, historic architecture, peaceful surroundings, and a sense of timeless charm that’s hard to describe. The setting is simply breathtaking—panoramic views of the sea and cliffs greet you the moment you step out the front door. The hotel grounds are beautifully maintained and peaceful, making it feel like a private retreat far away from the bustle of town. There’s a true sense of tranquillity here, which makes it ideal for anyone looking to unwind, reflect, or simply breathe deeply and reset. I loved my daily breakfast in the elegant dining room—there was always a warm welcome, and the staff were incredibly friendly, kind, and down to earth. The food was delicious, with a lovely buffet selection alongside cooked options, and the window seating overlooking the gardens made every breakfast feel luxurious and serene. My room was warm, comfortable, and beautifully furnished. I especially appreciated being able to control the heating myself—such a small detail, but it made all the difference. Everything was clean, peaceful, and thoughtfully arranged. The Osborne feels like a hotel out of time. It’s no wonder that during the Victorian era, artists, writers, and philosophers returned here again and again. With its inspiring views, sea air, and calming atmosphere, it’s the kind of place where your mind can wander and your soul can rest. It’s a rare gem that offers history, beauty, and comfort in perfect harmony. I’m already planning my return visit—this time for 8 nights in a junior suite. That’s how special this place is. Thank you to the entire Osborne team for a truly unforgettable stay. You all were so amazingly kind and helpful and the service was top notch.
The indoor swimming pool was clean and peaceful—perfect for mobility drills and gentle exercise. Even though the boiler was undergoing repair at the time, I still used the pool and reframed the chilly water as invigorating cold therapy! And the cold water actually helped with muscle soreness recovery! But I’m thrilled to hear it’s now heated to 30°C (the warmest pool in the UK I hear) and look forward to enjoying it fully on my next visit. They were very apologetic about the swimming pool boiler not working (out of their hands).

Location, large comfortable room with exceptional views. Terrace cafe/bar - perfect in the sunshine to enjoy the afternoon. Friendly staff.
Breakfast was good in the restaurant. However, we were disappointed with our first night dinner in the restaurant and the lack of change/variation in the Menu. By contrast we ate twice at the Balmoral Hotel across the road where they have a new, interesting dinner menu every day, mainly sourced from local ingredients. Both meals were excellent. With your location and ambiance we think you could make a lot more of your restaurant.

The beautiful view of the sea is breathtaking and surrounding garden areas. It's so peaceful and all the staff are lovely. I would certainly come back to this hotel when we visit Torquay again.
The full English breakfast wasn't up to standard. l have had much better and freshly cooked in other hotels. The eggs were overdone and the bacon was tough. The next morning I had poached eggs and asked for soft eggs and they were done just right. The bed pillows were cheap and soft. In the bathroom it needed a hand rail by the toilet nothing to hold on to. A non slip mat in the shower is needed as it was dangerous and slippery without. Only one tooth mug on the sink for a double room, needs a shelf above the sink.

the parking was easy and flat, the receptionist was welcoming, the room was of a high standard of decor and we loved the view. Tennis court was a bonus. We enjoyed the outside bar and seating area. lunch menu was short but good and we loved the salmon baguette and sweet potato and ginger soup. We loved being close to the beach and the location was very relaxing overall. We liked that this is a small hotel and didn't feel crowded. We didn't use the pool but it looked spotless and well-organised. Very quiet at night. A really beautiful escape.
The breakfast was very disappointing for a 4 star hotel. The hours are 730-930 which is a very early and short time frame. The buffet was very basic and I would have expected to have coffee/tea etc topped up on request, it felt generally understaffed. The cooked breakfast option took a long time to arrive and when it did the scrambled eggs were vile. I noticed it left on all plates around the room. We didn't make a fuss because we had too many other things planned for the day. Had we have been staying longer we would have raised these issues and considered have the breakfast taken off our booking and having food from the bar instead.

Our spacious, comfortable room and the views of Medafoot Bay. The hotel proved a good base from which to explore the area. The staff were very nice and helpful.
Although breakfast was OK, it wasn't exceptional. The choice of pastries was limited, and, in particular, we felt that there could have been a choice of bread instead of what seemed bog-standard brown or white sliced. When I chose scrambled egg, it was unappealing and, frankly, tasteless. However, the ham omelette I had was very nice. The breakfast staff were very courteous and efficient.

Lovely view and good facilities. Staff mainly very helpful. The room was very comfortable. Great breakfast and breakfast staff including receptionist.
Young Lady in bar was not helpful and dismissive when asking for a glass of milk. She gave us a tiny jug and said that that was it, she couldn’t give us any more. We were prepared to pay if asked but she wasn’t budging. Also, glass given to us for ice had large sticky stain down it, we didn’t realise until we got upstairs and wondered what on earth was stuck to our hand. One reception lady was quite stern. The other two were great.

Fantastic location, just a short stroll to the beach. Staff were great although under pressure with busy breakfast and meal times so food was delayed. Junior Suite Room with sea view was just refurbished and was very clean. The outdoor pool looked good but didn't get chance to try it out. Outside terrace was great with nice views of the sea.
In need of an update in certain areas. Could do with some toilets on the same floor as the bar and restaurant instead of going downstairs or having to use the lift.
