I missed breakfast. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay however. The hotel is located actually on the Royal Welsh showground, so a unique setting. When I checked out there was a dog show in progress which was great to spend time at. The bar and restaurant are both lovely. Had a good chat with the owner. Thoroughly recommend this place.
They have difficulty with signage. Their directions get swamped by the signage of the showground itself. Once you know it however, the location is straightforward. Go out of Builth northwards over the river Wye. Go past the two garages ( one either side), at the roundabout turn left and drive half a mile to the first right turn at the edge of the showground. Take that turn and go up the small hill and turn right. You will be entering the showground. Keep going straight for 200 metres and you will see the hotel entrance up a slight bank. Lovely garden area at the front.

I've booked a room as a last minute emergency after a motorcycle trip went a bit pear shaped. One minute I was wet, hungry and looking for shelter, in the next minute I had a comfy room, and by the time I took my luggage inside, hung my kit to dry and changed into some dry clothes, a hearty dinner and a cold pint was waiting for me on the table. The proprietors are probably the friendliest people in Wales and they looked after me like royalty. The location is very scenic and quiet. The breakfast next morning was delicious and so fulfilling that I'll probably still be digesting it this time next week. Also, there's secure parking for motorcycles, which is a massive plus.

Breakfast was great. Choice of cereals and yoghurts and a full cooked breakfast with whatever you want for £10. Hotel is located within the showground about a 30 minute walk from the town centre if you want to go, though there is a bar and restaurant on site so you don't need to go anywhere if you don't want to... Builth Wells is central in Wales so this made a great base for days out round Wales on our motorbikes (Steve the proprietor was very helpful with suggestions for routes).
Everything was fine.

The breakfast, the friendliness of the staff, the ability to watch Netflix, the stories of all the shows hosted here!
Instructions on how to find the place could have been sent in advance, but very helpful once we rang.

A last minute change of plans had me searching for three rooms near Builth. This place popped up, and it was easy location that sealed the deal. We were really only looking for somewhere to stay, without worrying too much where… but after our stay, it’s clear this is a special place to book! It’s super easy to find.. I mean, who can’t find the show ground?? We parked the bikes and went to check in. We were greeted by super friendly staff, a good laugh, and super helpful.. and that’s before we even had keys in hand! Checked in and in desperate need of a shower, we searched out our rooms. They were spotlessly clean, great bathroom, and the shower was excellent. It all looked very recently fitted, or it could be that they just take good care of their accommodation here. Showered and changed, we hunted out the bar (which was opened up for us) and enjoyed a great pint while chatting with the top dog there. It always helps if you’re bikers, that the guy running the show is a biker too, but you can tell by his experience of running pubs since year dot, the fella would get on with anyone.. We were just preparing ourselves for the short(ish) wander into Builth for a couple beers, when we were kindly offered a lift! “Is there no end to the hospitality here”, I hear you ask..? Well that’s what I thought too! I got the impression the whole family pitch in here, and it’s great. I just wish we had booked the breakfast too, so I could leave a bit about that too.. but there’s always next time. in summary… great location, great staff, lovely clean rooms with comfy beds and good showers. The staff are friendly, helpful, really go out of their way for you. If you’re in the area for something at the show ground or on a tour around Wales… I cant recommend the place enough.

Staff super friendly and nothing is too much bother for them, always willing to help and go out their way to check your stay is going well. I was staying alone and I felt safe in the accommodation. The rooms are the cleanest I have stayed in within this price range, excellent value for money. Beds were very comfy and allowed for an excellent nights sleep. I enjoyed my stay, I have returned and will continue to return.

The lodge is set in a really lovely location, and just a 15/20min walk into the town center where you can find many pubs and a few shops. The staff were truly amazing and really couldn't do enough to help you. Very friendly and helpful. Owen and Steve are nice to talk too. I didn't meet any of the others but I am sure they are great too! The room was clean and tidy and the beds were really comfortable too. Breakfast was really nice and had cereals, yogurts and fruit juices, very kind of them to make bacon sandwich for my friend who was hungover every morning and couldn't make it to breakfast :)
The only thing that I would say is that the shower was pretty weak and really could of done with more pressure. It was enough to get you clean but it would of been really nice to have more pressure.

The hotel was very nice, clean and well organised. The room was comfortable and the ensuite spacious
It was a little difficult to find as you arrive at a surrounding metal fence with a gate with a large sign 'security' which makes you think you have come to the wrong place as there is no sign there for the lodge. Dont worry - go inside metal gate, travel past the agricultural buildings and you will find a sign to 'hotel and restaurant' - there you will find the lodge.

Great place to stay as quiet and convenient to place visiting the next day. Comfy bed and great facilities. Didnt have breakfast as needed to pay....unless speak to hotel direct. Car parking convenient. Easy to find.
No breakfast included this time (it was last time) but other than this, no complaints - great place to stay

Breakfast really good. Food in the bar on evening was really nice. Room was very basic and small but had what we needed so it was fit for purpose and clean. The young guy who worked there do so lovely and couldn’t do enough for me and my dogs. He was great. Bar staff lovely too. Great stay and we will return on the next dog show for sure.
Just a really small room but not a major issue. Everything else was great.
