Fabulous seafront location - close to town. Room, bed and pillows comfortable. Nice extra's like areas with communal fridge (relying on honesty from other guests), board games and seating area for takeways etc. Cycle storage area at front of hotel. Lucky with parking - we had available spot at front of hotel but could be issue.

No fridge/fan in rooms. No breakfast option. Parking limited.

We booked this hotel last minute for a weekend away to de-stress as it was well located opposite the beach and will definitely return. The rooms are well equipped and very clean. I would recommend a small fridge being put in all rooms, although there are some already allocated to suites and a community fridge available. No bar or breakfast facilities although there are plenty of eateries about.

The hotel is efficiently run by a lovely couple called Nick and Ellie. They made us feel extremely welcome from the very beginning. I can honestly say that this stay far exceeded our expectations - there was nothing more that they could do for us. Meals are not provided at the hotel but that is of no consequence when you have many excellent reasonably priced eateries within a very short walking distance of the hotel. Nick and Ellie like to try them out themselves so they can give an honest recommendation of the different restaurants, pubs and cafes and that certainly hit the mark.

We liked everything, they couldn’t have done anything better. We had a fantastic break there.

Stayed for two nights over Bank Holiday, the Royal Clarence Hotel is quite superb for it's cleanliness and presentation with private parking. The seafront view was excellent with as much tea and coffee as needed. The en-suite was nearly as big as the bedroom with a double shower, which was really appreciated after a rainy walk down the esplanade. Enclosed balcony was really nice just to relax in. Bed was comfortable with bedside lamps which worked - which is always appreciated. No meals are provided but you can use the dining room or an excellent range of cafe's and restaurants are within a five minute walk. All in all, we plan to return. Thanks to Nick and Ellie.

The hotel is located overlooking the beach. The ensuite family room (one double and a single bed )was just right for us. Mattresses were very comfortable. The room where we stayed benefits from two large windows that allow natural light into the room but not into the bathroom. It had a kettle , cups, and complimentary sachets to make coffee and tea. A convinient communal small fridge is placed in the sitting room on the first floor . The glassed veranda offers protection from weather elements and a place for sitting to have breakfast or another takeaway meal. It is ideal to appreciate the splanade and the tidal beach. Parking in front of the hotel is limited. We travelled in two cars and were lucky to secure one free slot at the hotel. The owner was very helpful and offered printed details with clear advice for suitable places to park and eat around the area. Rooms are refreshed daily by a diligent cleaning team. CCTV cameras are all around the premises. Giving guests a sense of security.

Great view of sea front. Very quiet. Room very clean and comfortable.

As a lady of 78 on my own I found the lighting on the stairs inadequate especially leaving room 23. The stair light did not come on soon enough to cover the first step.which was only one step from my room. I had to go very carefully guessing where the first step was. The bedside lamp had a black shades against a dark blue wall which made reading impossible from bed.

The room was clean, and had what we needed for our one-night stay. The location on the seafront was great, and I appreciated being able to park right outside of it. No breakfast at the hotel, but a limited few options very nearby that was good for us.

The room and bathroom were a little small, and it didn't face the sea (we knew that at booking though). There was a table and chairs in the room, which could have been replaced with more storage or simply more space.

Really friendly welcome with lots of local information. Pointed out eateries and local attractions. The twin room was very well laid out with lovely beds, good bathroom and a smart TV. It was spotlessly clean.

The location, close to where I wanted to be and also on the seafront. Although there was no catering, it was possible to bring takeaways and eat them at a table on the covered veranda looking out to sea. Wooden cutlery, paper plates and serviettes were available and there was a fridge/freezer for storing fresh foods. An unpretentious place with adequate facilities in clean and good working order. I liked the fact it was so close to the beach and very close to the town itself.

The stairs there are a lot of stairs and it makes carrying cases quite challenging. I would not recommend this hotel for anyone that had mobility difficulties. I booked this hotel being aware there are no dining or drinking facilities on second thoughts. I would have liked if there was and not having to go out all the time.
