Great facilities kind friendly staff with very tasty food. But beware the small print on the menu, ‘Optional’ 10% service charge on food and drink is added before you have a choice meaning you have to ask for it to be removed. They got my bill wrong three times (in their favour each time) when I finally got a bill showing the actual price of what I had it was such a relief I gave in and ignored the service charge.

See above the service charge this is not America pay staff a living wage and stop with the hidden charges.

A very warm welcome from staff on arrival. Bar and restaurant area very clean and well presented. Food was excellent good menu choice. Excellent service from staff very friendly and knowledgeable. Bedrooms very modern, comfortable and clean. Very good gesture of a free drink voucher on arrival. A 10 minute downhill walk into the town a good shopping area recommend a taxi to return back to the hotel due to the uphill climb.

Parking a bit of a tight squeeze when car park is full. Part of the car park was inaccessible due to the construction of the beer garden at the rear of the hotel. Looking at it this would be a lovely addition once completed.

Very well maintained rooms and clean en suite with walk in shower. Room had small fridge, tea/ coffee facilities, comfy bed. Staff were very welcoming and friendly throughout our stay. Super breakfast available to us as we stayed over a weekend, cannot comment on 'continental' breakfast offering mid week. Had a lunch there as well, again well cooked food and good choice of dishes.

There is a car park but it is quite small to get in and out of, some extra parking opposite on other side of main road. Factor in that the rooms are over the pub and there is noise from below. Also rooms Long ear owl and Eagle owl face onto the main road side so there is road noise as well.

The breakfast was amazing, staff were lovely and the room was very comfortable. The food in the pub was also really lovely and given it's just above the pub it was also very quiet at night.

The room had a little damp in the corners which could do with a paint over. On the website there is an option for a breakfast basket instead of going down for breakfast but I didn't see this option. Also weekend breakfast between 8.30-9.30 is very early... would have been nice to have a lie in. Finally, on the website there is also a mention of things within the fridge in the room... but there was nothing.

Staff were lovely. Great welcome and very helpful. Food was good. Free drinks a nice treat. Room was clean,bed comfy, towels nice. Nespresso machine a bonus. Would stay again but book suite with views to hills to avoid road and extractor noise.

Couldn’t open room windows as too high. My husband is over 6ft so very high. Our room was near a kitchen extractor which hummed loudly and constantly. The room was Little Owl and I wouldn’t stay in that room again.

was at an event on sun the 30 june in the tepee which was amazing but at 915 was asked to leave the teepee and head up to the bar on arrival there s young girl who was working the bar said she was closing the bar as nobody in we said we are staying here dhe said you can hav one drink which i found very rude as some of the people eho where with the party and staying at the venue had tesvrled from brighton the girl in question was not interested at sll this spoilt a lovely day but she was very un professional and rude and badically had no social skils so we all had one drink and the door was bolted literally behind us i then had to go to my room after 10 pm and cud not stay chatting to friends and family on ther other hand troy who oversaw the party was absolutely amazing 👍

The design is good the new with the old patterns was good. The items in the fridge was good. Food was very good. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Main road noise. Mattress was not good and could not get the right pillows for me even though there was four to choice from. We did not read the booking details correctly so we expected a full cooked breakfast but this was only available on a Saturday or Sunday so we got a small hamper delivered to our room with cereals and crossiants. We asked for a early check in due to needed to change for a family funeral but was told no so we traveled from Leicestershire in our funeral clothes.

I love this place, this was our second stay and it’s one of my favourites! The staff are wonderful and the accommodation is excellent. The restaurant makes beautiful food and the breakfast hampers are amazing!

When you check out in the morning it’s not open so unless you’re travelling in your own car it’s a bit of a wait around for the bus etc and it’s not very close to the town so there’s nowhere very close to sit while you wait.

Whilst the on-site parking is a little tight that was the only point worth mentioning for arriving guests. Team were spot on when it came to service delivery. Accommodation was clean and well appointed and even with the road out front the sleep quality was good. Service and food in dining area both at dinner and breakfast was very good. Good menu choice. Sensibly priced throughout. Lovely atmosphere too.

Only a little point - somewhere to place your toiletries in the bathroom area - a little niggle but did not affect our stay

We were really impressed with The Eagle & Child. All the staff members we interacted with were warm and friendly but professional at the same time. The room was compact but very comfortable with everything we needed. We enjoyed a free drink at the bar after spending the evening with family living nearby. The breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice and cooked to perfection. Highly recommended.
