My only criticism was we arrived fairly late and the hating had not been turned on. I switched the radiator on however it took 2 hours to heat up The temperature outside was below freezing. The bar closed at 9.30, i could partly understand this due to lack of customers. When i went to bed i took the spare duvet of the other bed and went to bed with my clothes on We mentioned the lack of heat to the lovely lady at breakfast who she has mentioned this to the manager that the heating needs to be pit on when guests are booked I would definitely go back but would think twice going in the winter The breakfast was exellent

The Heating

Great parking, friendly staff, nice pub and delicious food! Room was very clean and comfortable with everything you need... if just slightly dated but it is a very old historic property. Ensuite was very clean and great large shower. Gorgeous views and lovely beer garden. Uber available to get out and about for the evening. Breakfast was really yum! Easy access to walks in the area. Staff were super helpful and welcoming.

Headboard on bed was loose and a bit creaky but didn't really impact anything. Point to note... twin bed rooms are single beds.

Easy to find, clean, staff really lovely

Not that I didn’t like it ! It was a step up from basic, actually the shower room was really quite nice. Some of the lights didn’t work, but that’s not a massive problem. Essentially it was cute. The bar was busy when I arrived, not my kind of bar, but hey Ho everyone one needs spaces they like to celebrate, be together and have fun. Breakfast was not Uber fancy but I managed to eat most of it and it set me up for the day. Will I stay there again ….. if I need to definitely YES! It’s perfect for where I need to get to and I got a great night’s sleep in a comfortable bed!

What an unexpected gem. Staff where very welcoming and friendly; Darren the owner offered and gave us a lift to our party venue instead of a using a taxi, so kind and the full English breakfast from Karen was amazing..will stay again in a heartbeat...loved it :-) The bed was extremely comfortable, rooms are small (It's a pub/old coach inn) but more than enough for what you need and was very clean, tidy, towels soft and the shower was lovely.

Liked everything, nothing I didn't like, just one suggestion looking back; could probably have done with a shower mat in the room and a hand rail just for safety as (obviously) shower is wet and slippy. I didn't ask for one and I managed ok, so wasn't a problem, but it might be worthwhile having one as a choice.

Fantastic location for our visit , spotlessly clean and very helpful and friendly staff. The food is brilliant and to a high standard , and the breakfast is to die for. Highly recommended and would definitely stay again on a non work visit to explore the stunning area more. Very good value food considering how nice it is and quality ingredient's . Very polite and helpful staff to . Highly recommended for sure . The views make this an amazing place in the summer I'm sure

The moorcock is situated in a fabulous location with really scenic views, its only a short walk in to town or a cheap taxi ride if preferred.

Unfortunately, I am a large man and therefore found the bed too small but also hard in terms of comfort.

It was a very atmospheric pub full of jovial locals - clearly somewhere people want to be. The room and bathroom were exactly what we needed and the food was excellent. We got everything we needed.

It was only a small thing but we did pick up on a bit of disquiet between the staff - the man who owns the place seemed very smiley but often left the premises with little notice (despite telling delivery drivers he "is always in") and the staff had to deal with visitors and deliveries they weren't told about and asked to cover aspects of the work that they weren't trained for. They did an excellent job of it and coped well but it didn't seem very professional from the owner.

Great views, lovely breakfast, clean rooms. Plenty of parking space. The owner was very helpful and friendly.

The shower needed some attention, had a problem with the flow, the owner swapped our room so someone could take a look at the shower.

The breakfast was good. Tasty and well cooked.

The shower in our room was little more than a trickle when at the correct temperature. The manager was more than obliging at having a look at it, but I think it was a plumbing issue.

The people at this place are very helpful and it has such a nice friendly feel to the place. The food in the restaurant was also delicious! When I arrived my room hadn’t been cleaned. However, on raising this with the host they were mortified at the oversight and flew into action to resolve which they did. I think that how you respond to issues is the true test of a hotel and their response was excellent.
