The staff members we met at reception and in the bar and restaurant were all very friendly and helpful. And made us feel very welcome. We had a spacious, bright superior king room. The bed was comfortable with two good pillows each. The breakfast buffet offered a good choice of hot and cold foods. We ate in the hotel each evening and the food was good and reasonably priced. The bar and restaurant areas are well appointed and the outside terrace was a lovely place to sit as the weather was fine. There was parking on site and reasonably priced (especially when compared to Cambridge City hotel and shopping centre parking costs). The hotel location was ideal for visiting Duxford Airshow with our extended family. It is also handy for Cambridge and surrounding towns though there wasn’t much to walk to nearby unless you play golf. The hotel is a comfortable place to relax though.

Our bathroom could do with some updating. The room cleaning regime could be clearer.

From entering the hotel the whole reception area is warm and welcoming. The staff behind reception Sally and the in the evening Pete could not do enough for us. Truly welcoming. Then the rooms were really lovely and done to a high standard. Even had an iron board so your partner did,nt feel left out.😉 The bar is lovely and staff were great.Breakfast had a grest choice to suit everyone..To be honest I cannot really fault it. Big shout out to Ilya ,Chris ,Brooke in the bar and breakfast .Also big shout out to the house keeping staff.If I have missed anyone ,I apologise. My wife and I had a wonderful stay.

Ideal location 20mins into Cambridge by car or local bus stop 2mins away. Spacious superior room, comfortable bed and complementary tea/coffee in room. Our room was alittle dated but clean the hotel was busy getting renovated when we stayed so we must have been allocated one of the older rooms but we did travel with our dog. A small fridge with complementary water would have been a bonus! The entrance, bar, restaurant and lounge area was tastefully newly furnished and the outdoor seating area was fantastic for relaxing with a drink! Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was very good and excellent value for money.

Nothing this will be a fantastic hotel once completely renovated.

Location to Cambridge centre bit far. Bus available from Tesco superstore 10 min walk from hotel, costs £4.50 return minus when having to pay for parking at the hotel too. 4 star hotel would expect parking to be included in price + air-conditioning in rooms as standard not needing to upgrade at extra cost. Breakfast average could be improved by offering more healthy options ie seeds for yogurt etc.

The rooms were great and beds really comfortable. The staff bent over backwards to help. The menu in the bar/restaurant was a bit limited but a new restaurant will come towards the end of the year, and the food we had was good, well presented, and well served. It was lovely sitting out on the terrace overlooking the golf course.

I don't like big chains, and although Great Westerns are supposed to be independently owned, they have no say over pricing. I wanted to book a second night for 6 of the 8 of us and they wanted three times the price we paid for the first! Ridiculous. The spa area is still closed but they are still refurbishing after it had been used for immigrants for two years until April this year. They only have 50 rooms open out of a total of 167 as yet.

The hotel was in the ideal location for a short stay in the area, visiting National Trust properties. It's very close to the A14 but there was no traffic noise from our room. The hotel has just recently been refurbished & it all looks very smart. The selection of sweets at reception was a nice touch! Breakfast was really good - a wide selection of hot and cold food plus a proper coffee machine. Staff were all very friendly & welcoming. There's plenty of parking; you do have to pay on arrival but it's only £5 for 24 hrs and it's understandable that they've introduced charges as there's a new little housing estate next door so they'll want to make sure hotel guests always have somewhere to park. The room itself was spacious. I believe our room is due a refurb soon (some rooms have already been done) but, even with that in mind, we weren't disappointed. The bed was huge & very comfy. There's plenty of storage in the room for clothes & all your bits & bobs. Plus a desk/chair as well as a table & comfy chair. So well equipped. I'll admit we didn't expect such a nice hotel & room for the price we paid so it really was a pleasant surprise. I'm guessing it was a special offer price but we will definitely look at rebooking here if we're ever in the Cambridge area again, even if it means paying more next time.

Air con would have been nice. I believe other rooms do have air con so I'm not sure if that's planned for the room we were in when it gets refurbished. If not, it definitely wouldn't stop us from staying again but we would pay the little extra for a room with air con.

Location to A14 was excellent, nice bright modern reception and bar area. Great bedding, soft pillows and nice duvet.

Wish my bedroom was as bright and modern as the reception, since the hotel was recently refurbished shame not update the rooms that we pay to stay in. No free parking with your stay, this should be built into your costs. No USB charger next to bed, cluttered shower area with 2 showers heads, hand trail, soap dispenser meant not much room to enjoy a shower. Nit picking but based on a recent refurb I would say they have missed an opportunity with the rooms,m and probably would hunt out an alternative hotel without these issues locally.

This property was a gem to find. It was exceptional value with the grandeur of a top rated hotel. The roots were large and comfortable, the temperature was perfect in the heat wave, and it was quiet. The restaurant was upstairs, wear nothing was too much trouble for the staff. My partner and I have just returned from Canada and noted how helpful, kind, and friendly everyone was out there. When I arrived at this hotel, I thought I had arrived back in Canada. The atmosphere was exactly the same. So thank you to everyone that I met last week. Much appreciated.

The hotel, although going through extensive refurbishment was lovely. If you accept the scaffolding and the lack of facilities, then this hotel doesn't disappoint. We didn't have any food as we arrived very late, and we didn't have breakfast because we were off very early in the morning.

Bathroom door locked me in - as it was faulty "ROOM 328" I literally shut the door - didn't lock it - but guess what it locked me in :0-( That was a bit scary My partner told me what to do to get out as the bracket was completely broken.

The hotel was great. Very clean and organised. Check in great. Very lovely receptionist.

The person in the bar was very rude. We ordered 2 halves of Stella and when she served up 2 pints was rude about it. The waitress checked the order on pos on the till. It was handled so rudely that my parents felt bad. Not qhat I wanted.she seemed to be management as had the radio to speak to staff. I have managed many hotels and this seemed very poor. The staff lower management were amazing but this lady really let them down !!
