Overall we liked the cottage and its location - easy to find and on a bus route - and found it comfortable, except for the living room seating. Everything we required, except a plug for the kitchen sink, was there. There are two ways to get to the cottage from the front [3 if you count going through the main house] - via the front directly from the car park, which means negotiating drain lids - not good for someone who is partially sighted. The better way is through the side albeit there are 3 steps but the paving and the steps are in light stone hence visibility is better. Instructions on how to get the TV going would have been helpful - I got it by day 3.
The biggest criticism for us was the furniture in the living room. For any of us to sit comfortably we had to place the the pillows behind our backs - was the sofa made for a giant? The single chair was slightly easier - just one pillow required behind one's back.

Large and super-comfortable bed (room 15). Staff.... excellent and attentive throughout. Breakfast was superb; self-service with full English cooked options (all kept hot!), and a huge choice of continental breakfast options, too. We're coffee drinkers... no complaints in that department either. Easy gentle walking access to the City centre and Cathedral. Private parking to the front of the hotel. Built circa 1867, this building is a wonderful piece of history. Guests shouldn't expect (imho) the decor to be to the same standard as a modern hotel (& it wasn't), but I've read a few reviews complaining about minor upkeep issues that made me think twice before booking, but this building is full of character and charm... a fairer definition of an almost 200 year old building. We will be back!!
There are no USB points, and not enough power outlets. The shower would benefit from being changed to an electric pump as the existing cold water pressure is far too great for the gravity fed hot water, making the job of balancing them for a comfortable temperature, seriously difficult!

I loved the size of the room. It was very spacious and clean. Looking out to the gardens was perfect. The outdoor area was lovely to sit out with friends in the evening, and the staff could not do enough for us. It was a hot night, but the room provided a fan, which was surprisingly quiet, so an added bonus! Everyone was polite and friendly, albeit a little flustered. I wonder whether there were staff shortages as breakfast was extra busy due to the hotel being full, but the food was replenished quickly.
The pillows were slightly uncomfortable, but that is just personal preference. It was a little noisy early hours of the morning, but again, with the hotel being so busy, it was likely people leaving early.

Friendly welcome when we arrived in the evening. There is also ample parking which is a plus. The apartment was very spacious--plenty space for our toddler to run around. The heating was already on when we arrived which was really helpful given the cooler weather at night. The bed was massive and very comfortable. The location is superb as it is very close to town as well as to local groceries. We'll surely book again if we plan for a holiday around Canterbury.
Couldn't find the cutlery drawer which was quite hidden in one of the kitchen main drawers. Receptionist helped us find it but it could have just been explained in the guest guide book how to locate it. Also, there should have been a manual for the compact oven/microwave as we found it difficult to understand how it works. It would be nice as well if there was a stock of salt, pepper and dishwashing liquid in the apartment as standard. The automatic lights (like 3 sets of chandeliers!) in the hallway is very bright. It is dazzling when you get up in the middle of the night to go to the loo. It might be helpful to change some of the bulbs to a lower wattage or to a warmer tone. Like, the little things matter especially if one is to stay over longer.

Not right in the centre but an easy walk in. Staff are fabulous. Beautiful old building and gorgeous grounds. Would much rather have slightly faded older decor than a souless make-over that looks the same as everywhere else. Booked a small double because we were arriving late and wouldn't be spending much time in it apart from sleeping. And it made it more affordable. Very clean. Comfortable bed. Extremely good value for money with a nice breakfast - lovely poached eggs. Gluten-free toast available. Parking was very straight foward.
I was very happy with everything.

We stayed in cottage number 10. It is in good state of decorating, well equipped with cooking equipment. Salt, pepper and vinegar, washing up liquid, dish washer tablets, dish washing cloth and tea towel provided as well as soap and showers gel. Comfortable beds and great shower plus effective and easy to control electric radiators in all rooms, and plenty of storage. We parked virtually outside the bungalow cottage. Soundproofing is effective. Everything was clean and well presented. Staff were friendly and helpful. Garden was great for walking our puppy in mornings and evenings. Great location for walking or getting bus into Canterbury. We had a wonderful stay and highly recommend.
If I was being super picky, I would say I would prefer a cottage that has small exclusive sitting room rather than big open plan entrance sitting room, kitchen and dinning area like cottage number 10. Some other cottages have different lay outs.

Location was great. Very close to the town centre and Cathedral. Good parking facilities, and warm welcome by the staff. The flat was very good value and had everything we needed.
Internet and phone signal is shocking in Canterbury. So I was disappointed but unsurprised the TV and Freeview box didn’t get signal. If I’m being picky but honest, cobwebs on the ceiling lights and a somewhat complicated way of controlling the radiators when it was freezing outside (the flat was warm but we had been out at graduation and were freezing so wanted to stand over a heater to warm up and couldn’t get them to work again… possibly on a times as they had definitely been on).

Our room was lovely, it was spacious and had a big, new bathroom and overlooked the garden. It was close enough to everything to be able to walk into Canterbury to see the sights and there were plenty of restaurants nearby. The breakfast was great, constantly restocked and a good variety of food available. On site parking was a big bonus as well
Our room got the full sun in the morning so it is worth having an eye mask if you are a light sleeper as the sun was rising very early.

The hotel is well situated in a leafy part of town about 15-20 minutes walk from the town centre, and about the same from Canterbury Christ Church University. It has guest parking at the front and a lovely large lawn+trees garden at the back with plenty of seating to sit in groups or alone in secluded parts. The house is large and airy, an old historical mansion (victorian?) with high ceilings and some original features (e.g. wooden staircase, fireplaces..). We had a good-sized quiet bedroom overlooking the side of the property, with a comfortable double bed and clean crisp white cotton bedding. Plenty of power sockets and good facilities (TV, good wifi, hairdryer, iron, kettle). Bathroom was clean and hot water plentiful (although plumbing showing signs of age). Breakfast was excellent, self-service buffet with wide range of cereals, pastries, fresh and tinned fruit, yogurts, dairy and non-dairy milk, tea/coffee/herbals, and very good frequently topped up cooked food (scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, baked beans, mushrooms, tomatoes, hash browns), toast and jams. Staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming.
The historical property shows some signs of age - a few worn carpets, some flaking paint, hot water pressure in the shower was bit weak. Personally I don't mind, it like a bit of historical character, but I know some people might object.

Fantastic, phenomenal customer service from Maddy, he went above and beyond to ensure the accommodation exceeded our expectations. I can't commend him highly enough and hope he is recognised for his commitment and dedication to customer satisfaction. Ebury Hotels & Apartments is very lucky to have such an employee and i hope he is recognised and rewarded by management for his work. We stayed in one of the bungalows at the back of the hotel in sumptuous surroundings. A very well equipped property, comfortable sofa, lovely beds and a Bosch cooker, the kids had great fun baking meringues. A superb self contained space ideal for a visit to Canterbury with friends or family. Highly recommend with private parking. We will be back exceptional value for money. Well done Maddy & Ebury, great service, great stay.
Wish we stayed longer, i could quite happily live there, beautiful grounds, great location.
