The staff were so lovely and helpful. We couldn’t believe how cosy and luxurious the room was! We also loved that the spa was open from 7am until 9pm and was never too busy. Bowood house and gardens were very nice and it was great that we had a complimentary pass with our stay. The 3-hole academy golf course was very a good addition and in as good a condition as the main course. Speaking of, the main golf course was also lovely!

The golf course was lovely and set in a wonderful setting and the course was in fantastic condition. However it was extremely let down by the four ball in front of us. They had three sets of clubs and were sharing and taking an unnecessary amount of time and refused to let a single ball through in a buggy. I feel that this could have been avoided if there was a course Marshall/ starter but there was no one in sight. However, I couldn’t fault the course and the pro shop staff as they were all more than helpful and lovely.

Beautiful location on the Bowood House estate and surrounded by the Golf Course. Large comfortable room, excellent restaurant and the spa has a large pool which was never crowded. Convenient for Bath and lots of gardens to visit (The Courts, Great Chalfont, Lacock). Loads of local excellent Gastro pubs and good restaurants in Chippenham. Will definitely return.

Breakfast is cooked to order so if you arrive at a busy time (09:00 in our experience) you can wait over half an hour. Which isn't a problem if you're just relaxing but could be if you have a schedule.

Staff were absolutely fantastic, made efforts to ensure my daughter had a special allocation of pancakes for when we came for breakfast in case they ran out. They were more than happy to accommodate anything we asked with a smile and everything had a lovely personal touch. I would rate the staff as this hotel 100/10 they really do all go above and beyond to make sure you are well looked after. Facilities are exceptional

We had a member of the spa who was rather rude to our son as he was exciting the pool 5 minutes after the allocated time. You only get short one hour slots for swimming with children and whilst I was collecting our belongings he was making his way to the ladder. A lady very aggressively shouted at him 'you're not supposed to be here, get out' all because she wanted to swim in a straight line by the ladder and couldn't have a few minutes patience whilst we exited. The amount we pay to stay here, I feel there should be some level of flexibility around swim times with children. The hour creeps up on you so fast and surely there should be a grace period otherwise the time slot is far too short a window.

Beautiful setting quiet in the middle of Bowood Estate countryside views all around , staff very friendly, professional . Helpful and efficient . Very good spa facilities and relaxed atmosphere. Staff were super helpful in advance answering my many quieries bringing a group for 40 th birthday celebrations . Loved the live music in the bar area Saturday night and plenty comfortable seating for our group . Breakfast was excellent . Restaurant and bar staff great and food good . Bedrooms and bathrooms spacious and shower very good .Liked getting admission to Bowood House and Gardens as part of our stay definitely worth a visit .

The food is in my Opinion sub standard for a hotel of this quality. The dinner menu is strange today the least. The breakfast is also sub standard and the reception staff kindly removed this from my bill once I provided feedback. The apple juice was fizzy and obviously not right. The waitress told me this was quite normal…. The breakfast was Under resourced and slow to provide service. They also lacked management and were not focused on the issue despite recognizing they were under staffed. Your service needs stronger management.

Booked the Bowood for my Dad's birthday as he likes to play golf but being older and with old injuries, doesn't get the chance to often now. But at Bowood, we went out on the driving range a few times and he had a great time. Our rooms were on the ground floor as I had requested a ground floor for my mum, and next door to each other. We all had a really comfortable stay in the rooms - so quiet it was peaceful! And a great view of the golf course surrounding and woodlands. All the staff are super friendly and helpful. The only recommendation I would give you is that if you are interested in spa treatments, book them when booking. We were fine, but when I asked, they were fully booked for the days we stayed.

Bowood is an exceptional hotel and spa - from comfort and style in the rooms and hotel and spa spaces to the beauty and peace of the surroundings, but most noteworthy is the staff. We were looked after to perfection - with genuine kindness and consideration, helpfulness and attention when we wanted or needed it and space to just relax/be when that was wanted. My husband could work online when needed with ease and relax as well, and my mobility and current health needs were catered for brilliantly, and with real thought, which made a huge difference to me. We were so impressed we stayed an extra night. The food and wine selection were fantastic, both in room service and in the restaurant and, once again, specific needs (food allergies) were met with attention to detail and creativity (which is actually quite rare). Thank you to every single person who made our stay so lovely. The spa is also a real sanctuary and the massages we had were by skilled people - expensive, but an experience we felt worth having. We are looking forward to going back.

The hotel itself was beautiful. The room was very spacious and felt luxurious. The staff were so friendly, helpful and approachable. The bar staff made amazing cocktails and there was a great selection of drinks. The hotel grounds were stunning and peaceful. The spa facilities were perfect; clean, quiet and the spa terrace with drinks was a huge treat (with the added bonus that no children allowed in the spa in the evenings). Overall we had a lovely weekend stay.

The food at the Shelburne restaurant was.. awful. Everything had a strange flavour. The fillet steak was grey and pretty much tasteless and it came with onion rings that literally crumbled to pieces on the plate, inedible.The garlic mashed potatoes tasted strange..minty? Weirdest restaurant experience we've ever had. The full 'Wiltshire' breakfast was naff too.. very salty. It's a shame because the hotel was literally perfect in every other way and the staff were absolutely lovely, couldn't fault them.

The hotel was lovely, set in really beautiful grounds and great facilities. We stayed for one night and loved it. The room was very spacious and had a very comfortable bed!!! The cookies in the room were a nice touch. We used the spa facilities and couldn't fault them. We had dinner which was really good and tasty food. We chose the set menu rather than the a la carte and couldn't fault it; delicious! We used the free access to Bowood House and gardens which were very pretty. There's a nice walk from the hotel to the house which took about 20 minutes and got to watch the golfers play along the walk. Overall the stay was well worth the money!

The plugs next to the bed weren't UK plugs, they were round prongs. So had to charge our phones overnight using plugs away from the bed ... a minor gripe, and really not a first world problem!

Food was good; we had breakfast and dinner two nights. Rooms were excellent. Staff lovely.

Service was a little slow on Friday 23/5 but the food was excellent. Thursday 24/5… terribly tough steak which was inedible ( I couldn’t get my knife in it in parts) Not adequately compensated for this…£8 deducted at the restaurant ( the glass of prosecco was taken off the bill ) and a further £10 on checkout. Considering the ribeye steak was £38 it means we paid £20 for eight chips, a mushroom and a tomato. Not terrific value. It is a shame as we love coming to Bowood.
