Staff were absolutely fantastic, made efforts to ensure my daughter had a special allocation of pancakes for when we came for breakfast in case they ran out. They were more than happy to accommodate anything we asked with a smile and everything had a lovely personal touch. I would rate the staff as this hotel 100/10 they really do all go above and beyond to make sure you are well looked after. Facilities are exceptional

We had a member of the spa who was rather rude to our son as he was exciting the pool 5 minutes after the allocated time. You only get short one hour slots for swimming with children and whilst I was collecting our belongings he was making his way to the ladder. A lady very aggressively shouted at him 'you're not supposed to be here, get out' all because she wanted to swim in a straight line by the ladder and couldn't have a few minutes patience whilst we exited. The amount we pay to stay here, I feel there should be some level of flexibility around swim times with children. The hour creeps up on you so fast and surely there should be a grace period otherwise the time slot is far too short a window.

Bowood is an exceptional hotel and spa - from comfort and style in the rooms and hotel and spa spaces to the beauty and peace of the surroundings, but most noteworthy is the staff. We were looked after to perfection - with genuine kindness and consideration, helpfulness and attention when we wanted or needed it and space to just relax/be when that was wanted. My husband could work online when needed with ease and relax as well, and my mobility and current health needs were catered for brilliantly, and with real thought, which made a huge difference to me. We were so impressed we stayed an extra night. The food and wine selection were fantastic, both in room service and in the restaurant and, once again, specific needs (food allergies) were met with attention to detail and creativity (which is actually quite rare). Thank you to every single person who made our stay so lovely. The spa is also a real sanctuary and the massages we had were by skilled people - expensive, but an experience we felt worth having. We are looking forward to going back.

We loved the Spa, restaurant, swimming pool, and the deer. Lovely setting, quiet and peaceful. So nice seeing the deer grazing on the grounds. Free pass to Bowood House and Gardens was a bonus and we spent several hours there exploring the house and the garden and grounds. Would recommend people to stay here and we will come again in the future.

Absolutely gorgeous hotel with beautiful scenery and luxury rooms. We stayed in the Mercer Suite, which had a luxury interior, large bed and bathroom, as well as stunning views. The Spa, which is free to access if you’re staying at the hotel, is a great little spot and is the perfect place to relax. The restaurant in the hotel is stunning and the food was even better, we opted for the cheese soufflé and the duck breast which went down an absolute treat and the staff were lovely and friendly. We also had a drink the library / study which is the perfect way to end your evening, with its beautiful interior and relaxing atmosphere, we absolutely loved it. The staff are also extremely attentive and are always happy to help, both in the hotel and the restaurant. This was our first time here, but we will definitely be back soon, as the Bowood has become our new favourite spot.

There was nothing we didn’t like about the property.

The room I stayed was extremely clean and comfortable and very quiet. All the staff in the hotel were all very helpful and polite. The breakfasts I had each day were great, fresh and relaxing. On the whole the family meal went well. The rooms and reception area were immaculate. The log fires were appreciated at this time of year.

On the whole our family lunch meal went well but some of the food was not cooked well enough. I felt the restaurant being very full the kitchen struggled to cope a bit. The restaurant it self looked tired and needed a refresh considering the resting of the hotel was immaculate.

Second stay at this hotel and once again, excellent throughout.rRoom very spacious, clean, comfy bed and lovely touched with cookies, tea and coffee, fresh milk and water complimentary . Staff throughout the hotel in every area extremely friendly, helpful and professional. Excellent leisure facilities, very challenging golf course and super driving range and practice areas. Breakfast fabulous! My only request is that it needs to be dog friendly perhaps with just a few rooms available for guests with a well behaved dog, as it’s in such a beautiful area of outstanding natural beauty. I would return again and again if my pooch could stay too! Would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone looking for luxury friendly stay with great staff and great facilities. Thank you!

Accomodation and staff support

The restaurant was exceptionally busy at breakfast on 13/10/24 following a wedding the previous day. Although we had reserved a breakfast table at 10am, there was no table ready for us and we sat at a prepared table in the bar area. Although this was not the fault of the staff some guests were extremely thoughtless and congregated by our table to have a family (loud) conversation with children running about around us. Not the most relaxing way to enjoy a Bowood breakfast. It would have been better if there had been a table prepared and ready for us in the restaurant as I think people are generally better behaved in that environment.

All the staff were excellent and couldn't have been more helpful. Great location, room, grounds, spa and facilities.

We found the cooked breakfast was lacking compared to the high quality of everything else in the hotel, both mornings we were served food that was not hot. The first morning it was remade to a good standard but the second the whole plate was clearly just nuked in the microwave resulting in a very disappointing eggs royale with hot smoked salmon and overcooked eggs. The quality of the food was good, it was just a shame it was not served fresh. We felt sorry for the poor waitress having to run back and forth who couldn't have been more helpful and apologetic. Hopefully this could be improved to make the place 10/10!

The only negatives - and they are small - were: The entrance from the road - I arrived in darkness and found the entrance to be quite poorly lit. You are directed through an original gate in the wall which looks very narrow (it is, but is wide enough for cars). The car park is also not very well lit, which was a bit annoying when trying to sort stuff out from the boot of my car. However, the hotel is beautiful. The grounds are stunning. The golf looks amazing - sadly I didn't have time to play. The spa looked amazing but I didn't have time to do that either - so a definite need to revisit. The bar has a very chic look and ambience - the prices are realistic, the drinks menu varied and the staff delightful. The menu again is interesting, well presented and very tasty. Breakfast was lovely. The room (a luxury double with park / golf view) was superb. The only slight drawback the lack of bright light - why are hotels rooms relentlessly underlit?? Anyway, aside from the frustration of lack of lux, the room was immaculately clean, well appointed and with stunning views across the parkland. I looked out at about 7am in half-light and the deer were outside - beautiful. The bathroom was great - a separate walk in shower, a bath with shower attachment and lovely decor. All in all, one of the nicest hotels I've stayed in for some time. I will go back and will recommend to my friends (and you on Booking.com!).

Lighting - everywhere - entrance signage from road, entrance to hotel, car park, room. PLEASE add bright lighting as an option in rooms - it's SO frustrating when trying to do make up and hair when all you have in the room is well shaded lamps!

Beautiful grounds, stunning views & the kindest, most welcoming staff. Deer on the golf course in the early morning. Perfectly maintained hotel & spa, clean, comfortable. Big cosy robes provided. Delicious food (dinner & breakfast). We had the restaurant booked but our son (1 year old) wasn’t having any of it. The staff were so helpful and accommodating and we enjoyed a drink in the lounge where he could play on the floor then had delicious room service. Wish I’d caught their names to say a proper thank you but everyone from reception, the lady at breakfast, the gentleman seating people for dinner & the cleaning staff were incredibly friendly and lovely.
