The staff here were exceptional, they really made the difference between a good stay and a great stay.

Décor a little dated, but appreciate all businesses don't have unlimited budget. What it lacked in decor was more than made up for by staff.

The staff were friendly and helpful and couldn't do enough for you. The food was divine and well presented The room was lovely ( I booked a small double ), which was cosy, and the original beams made it look authentic. Good choice of refreshments left in the room.

The room was very warm as we visited while the English weather was giving us a treat for a change! There was no air con, but I presume this was because it's a listed building. Only 2 very small windows to open, which was not great as they had a function on both nights we stayed and we could hear this until early hours. No curtains, only blinds, so the light came in the room so hard to sleep at times. The shower water pressure dropped at times too, this i presume was when others were using the facilities in their rooms.

Room 3 has been improved recently and is nicely decorated and furnished. There is a bath. We ate in the restaurant and the food was far better than we expected. The cauliflower starter is seriously good as was the smoked salmon at breakfast. Beef carpaccio was also good and wife enjoyed her prawns. Staff were pleasant and efficient. I would stay here again. Ask for one of their “executive “ rooms.

We moved room as the bath plug arrangement in our first room [110?] didn’t function. There isn’t much in the way of outside space, but there is a terrace (although it overlooks the car park).

Staff were great, friendly and helpful. Breakfast really good , loads of choices to start and plenty salmon and eggs. Although I’ve been before to a wedding years ago I hadn’t remembered how convenient for Chain Bar it is. I’m originally from Hipperholme and still have family in your area.

The room decor was a little tired and not sparkling clean ( I’m being picky to point you in the right direction) Your joiner shouldn’t have left a hole in the door ( a plate behind the handle would sort it )

The breakfast was cooked to order with an extensive choice and was served hot, continental was self-service apart from the toast. dinner was excellent and with a varied menu, but, quite expensive. The room was standard as we had booked that. As the building is very old, the windows were sash windows, and, therefore, were a bit draughty, but there was a heater located in the room,The room was exceptionally clean...

The view from the bedroom window consisted of a brick wall, we would have preferred a view.

My third stay at this very comfortable hotel. A small double room and excellent bed. I decided to stay in for dinner, and chose a very tasty steak & ale pie with soft buttery mash and a rich gravy. It was a busy evening in the restaurant & bar following a wedding but the service was, as always, quick and friendly from the young team. Excellent freshly cooked Yorkshire breakfast - just perfect.

nothing to report- apart from a wider tea selection for the early morning cuppa in the room. Maybe I should have asked for Decaf Yorkshire Tea bags at reception. Must remember for my next visit.

Excellent location, didn’t hear road noise even though near main road . Beautiful country house, dining area modern, comfortable and food delivered quickly from dining room. Breakfast choices first class as was food, great choice, delicious and great presentation . First class reception and dining room staff , efficient and friendly , particularly one young woman who seemed to be in charge;dark brown hair in a bun, she managed to get us fresh sandwiches made just before chef was finishing. We came back from family event and needed some food, quality of food was first class and the presentation of the sandwiches, fresh prawn and chicken choice, green salad and delicious crisps, a veritable feast . She was fabulous! And the food was delivered to our room, excellent.

Period features but our room had damp black marks in right hand side of ceiling needs attention, some skirting and window wood area needs painting, takes away from splendour of room. Carpet had join in front of door which had come away from repair and yet recognition it is superior carpet. Flow of water from shower variable and side lamps not all working .

Lovely grounds and reception area/restaurant really lovely. Bar staff very friendly and attentive. Fabulous breakfast.

Unfortunately the hotel was let down by the rooms. Very tired. Beds ridiculously small for 2 adults. Small tv. Dated pictures on wall. Hole in the bathroom door. No conditioner and not enough toilet roll offered. Thankfully we had rewards in our booking.com account but had we have paid full price i wouldn't be happy.

The hotel was great very local to where we needed to be and the room was great too comfortable and spacious everything we needed, breakfast was excellent and all the staff were friendly, helpful and they were there if needed.

The only thing was the shower although there were a notice explaining the water was hot and it was but when using the shower when trying to regulate it the shower then seemed to run cold longer than warm/hot.
