Location was great, breakfast was ample and restaurant/bar looks posh

Parking was a bit of a pain, lifts kept breaking, room was too hot (air con was useless) and had to sleep with the window open so got woken up by the zoo animals at 6:30am

Nice and friendly staff, very good location between the airport and the city, also a very large dining area with professional service. Never experienced before to be seated on breakfast with explanation and everything in this kind of class of hotel. Also what I liked was that sounds of apes and lions from zoo, and that we saw the apes also from our window in the morning.

The coffee was terrible, please replace it with something drinkable. For many people like me the coffee in the morning defines the whole day. And yeah the SPA are is terrible, small, fit for reconstruction and with zero hygiene standards.

The Holiday Inn was good value for money considering the price of accommodation during the Fringe Festival. The hotel is situated about 30min bus ride from the old town however the convience of having a bus stop just outside the hotel us super handy and we found it very easy to get around. Food at the restaurant was nice and well priced and the breakfast offered daily was great to get a good meal to start the day. The rooms are clean, however, can do with an upgrade. All the staff were very helpful and very polite to assist with any queries we had.

Access to the hotel is via stairs or a clinb up a rather long ramp if you're not arriving by car, which I found rather odd for such a big hotel.

It was absolutely amazing such a great location! 🤩 I travelled there with my daughter to celebrate her 21st birthday and the plan was to visit Edinburgh Zoo as proper animal lovers we are going to every zoo in Uk and Scotland and further afield if we can . The zoo was right next door to this lovely hotel and was amazing we visited it twice 🐅🐅 the hotel staff put balloons and a card and cake and two bottles of processo which was really lovely 🥰 and was lovely to arrive and have that in the room , my daughter was extremely happy 😊 Great hotel , great location, great transport links to the city and great food/ breakfast

I’m a zoo member, so the location was perfect for me. I had requested a room with a view of the zoo and got it. I could hear Jay the lion roar at night. :) Small but lovely room, with a very comfy bed, a wingback chair for reading (I’m a bookworm!), a desk and table and lots of storage space in the bed- as well as the bathroom. I’m very fussy when it comes to cleanliness, but the room was spotless on arrival.

Rather poor housekeeping. They often forgot to restock on toilet paper or hand towels. As I mentioned, the room was spotlessly clean on arrival, but after that there didn’t seem to be much cleaning or vacuuming. I stayed for 9 nights and my bedding was only changed once. Breakfast was included, which was great, but the choice was lacking and items weren’t restocked regularly, so I often just had to do with what was left. I’m not a big breakfast person, so it wasn’t too much of a problem for me, but others might find issues with that. And one last thing, which is a more individual and personal issue: the shower-bath combo. Much prefer a shower only. More space and fewer problems stepping in and out.

Close location to city centre and zoo. Lifts to all floors Decent sized room. Loved hearing the buff cheeked baboons "sing" early morning from the zoo next door. They were brilliant. Decent breakfast although not fantastic quality ingredients...although I wouldn't necessarily expect top quality from a lower end chain hotel. Drinks from the bar were pricey but a good selection. Helpful cheerful staff.

The beds were awful. We had twin beds and they seemed to make you feel like you were about to be tipped out of bed. They were a bit lumpy as well and each single bed seemed to have a single duvet that had been wrapped (literally) in a super king size duvet cover which you kind of get all tangled up in.

Well located next to the zoo with bus stops for centre and the airport. Good lounge/bar area for breakfast. Staff were all helpful and friendly. Well appointed quite room, with lovely view. Enjoyed the room service.

Bed and pillows were too hard, woke both morning with sore ribs from the mattress. TV was odd and had netflix or youtube, didn’t have live TV at all. Took me both nights to work out the heating, woke both mornings cold and no blankets in the room. I think if I had stayed a third night I would have got it fixed. Reception was always super busy, they needed more staff on there to avoid queues. I should have been told when I ordered that there was a charge for room service. I looked and saw no reference to this on the website or menu.

Great 13m pool, gym compact but fine, pleasant breakfast, on many bus routes so very accessible from the airport and city centre, air conditioning, no road noise despite being on the main road. Overall this was not only the best value hotel I could find for my stay, but it had the bonus of a swimming pool which is rare in Edinburgh in mid range hotels.

Breakfast could be modernised to include far more healthier hot options (e.g. alternatives to fried food). Plus the WiFi internet did not work at all for my whole visit - I contacted reception about this and was told they would reboot the router, but nothing changed. I had to use my mobile data.

Hotel is an in good location a few miles away from the city centre, located next to the zoo, it offered us a good price that offest the distance to the city centre. We opted for Uber for the duration of the break however, there are plenty of bus routes that stop right outside the hotel as they all service the zoo. The rooms are very standard as you would expect but the bed was big enough for two with comfortable pillows. We dined in the hotel twice during our stay and the food was great with no complaints. The bar staff were all excellent and attentive. We also used the pool/sauna during the stay and enjoyed it very much.

Hotel is very busy with a high throughput of people, there were times when we couldn't use the lifts due to the porters moving lots and lots of luggage, additionally if large groups arrived by coach, then the foyer was very much out of bounds. The single leather chair in the room isn't comfy at all - please change them Holiday Inn!

Fabulous breakfast , proper food and tasted great , (especially the mushrooms)...great selection....we had left the window open overnight and thought we had woke up in the jungle in the morning, our room backed into Edinburgh zoo car park, loved thd noise from the exotic birds .dont get that in many hotels in the UK !....all staff were very friendly and helpful.

Most of the hotel hallways were very shabby looking ,carpets thread bare and all room doors looked battered chipped and in need of a few coats of paint... Rooms were comfortable enough but also in need of refurbishment.
