The hotel has all the facilities of a large hotel with rooms well equipped & modern - they even now include a coffee machine in the room. Breakfast can get busy later on; but they restock quickly meaning you still get a full breakfast. The hotel is outside of the centre, but the bus stop is directly outside the entrance & buses turn up every few minutes to get you central within 20mins or so

The hotel has a small pool that can be used on a first come basis. Sadly one family with 2 children took over the pool when I was there making it impossible to swim. That resulted in the jacuzzi also being full as people were waiting for them to leave - but the sauna was still free & there are towels down there - the gym is small, but usually the equipment is available

Clean spacious room, Good selection for breakfast that was frequently replenished . Friendly staff. Good connections public transport wise. Several bus routes into city centre and stop right outside hotel for buses/coaches to Airport or Glasgow. Nearest rail station is Haymarket, a 10-15 ride on routes 12, 26, 31 & X38.

No lifts from road level up to reception, if you have luggage, you have to haul them up several flights of stairs to reception. There are 3 lifts from reception to rooms though. If you arrive by car and park in car park, you're fine, but for people arriving by public transport, it's not great.

The hotel has a fantastic location next to Edinburgh Zoo, and guests are entitled to half-price entry after 2 pm, which makes for an exciting visit for the kids. The staff were exceptionally lovely, friendly, helpful, and welcoming, which made our stay even more enjoyable. The breakfast the hotel offers is plentiful and delicious, providing a great start to the day. The restaurant and bar area has a great view of the outskirts of Edinburgh, with hills visible in the distance, adding to a relaxing breakfast experience. The hotel is very family-friendly and goes out of its way to accommodate little ones. Although we only had dinner at the hotel once, the food was excellent, and the 'Kids eat free' offer was a nice bonus.

Some parts of the hotel appear a bit outdated and could use a refresh. However, it’s worth noting that they were actively working on updating certain areas of the property, so it seems that improvements are already underway.

Staff were friendly and very helpful when needed, location was good with the bust stop right out the front which gives you a direct run into the city centre

The beds were very hard - we did however ask for and received an extra duvet and pillows to use as a mattress topper. The hotel itself is a little outdated/old but every effort has been made to make it look a bit nicer. Be mindful that if you take the bus from the airport or from the train station that there are NO lifts or elevator to help you with your baggage You will need to carry them up a massive hillside and then stairs before you enter the front entrance or a steep hill to go around the back ( there is a sign that says that you can ask for assistance, but that’s when you have already lugged your baggage up the hill ! )

Excellent location between the airport and city with various bus stops just outside. The hotel itself is beautiful especially be bar/lobby area. Had breakfast there most mornings and also had lunch and dinner one day and all the food was incredible. Staff were lovely and helpful. We even had an hour in the pool one day and also played pool and foosball in the other bar area which was lovely and quiet. The rooms itself were great, maybe a little basic but more than fine for a couple nights stay. Comfy bed and always clean. I would 1000% stay here again when we next come to Scotland

Easy to get into town using public transport Room was spacious and comfy bed. TV had option to connect with apps on your phone We enjoyed the pool but just be mindful what time you go as it can get crowded

Breakfast was crowded for most of the days we were there and their pancake machine was painfully slow! We arrived late at night and made our way by bus. The walk to the hotel is on a slight incline and nearest entrance was up 2 flights of stairs!! Definitely not ideal for anyone with mobility issues like myself. I had to lift mine and my 7yr old son's suitcases up and I could only take one at a time. I was in so much pain after all that. Although our room was clean unfortunately we found the bin in the bathroom was filled up with rubbish and had not been emptied from previous stay.

The Holiday Inn Edinburgh is a good value for money hotel. The hotel itself is very nice, and the rooms are spacious, comfortable, and have everything someone needs. The reception staff was kind and helpful when we needed assistance with the showers. The pool is big, and the jacuzzi is very good. A notable feature is the Starbucks inside the hotel, which adds an interesting touch. The location is also convenient, as it is next to the zoo and just 17 minutes from the centre of Edinburgh, with a bus stop right in front of the hotel providing easy access to the city. Overall, our experience was satisfactory.

However, the rooms are a bit old, and the showers are somewhat weird. The water in the pool was a bit cold for winter. The hotel has too many stairs at the entrance, making it not disability-friendly and quite difficult to manage with large suitcases.

A great contemporary hotel with large public areas and a pool. Lovely, very spacious and well-appointed rooms. Superb connectivity with the possibility to watch Netflix etc. Lovely staff. Modern vibe. Ideally located with both the airport, city a short bus ride away (every few minutes and less than a ten minute run into town) and the zoo next door. There is also an interesting walk up Corstorphine Hill and along an old railway route. If available in future, this would be my new default place to stay. Listen out at night......people say you can hear animals in the zoo.

The coffee downstairs was great but very expensive. A bit of a schlep up the steps with cases to get to the reception if arriving by bus. A tad noisy at times.

Its our second stay at this hotel. Lobby and restaurant are nice as well as the bar. Rooms are in good condition and are spacious. They could use a little updating but otherwise OK. Staff was outstanding. Dhruv at reception was very polite, diligent and helpful with all our needs. More hotels should have people like him! Housekeeping was amazing as well as Sanjaya. On the day we left, about mid afternoon I noticed i had left my wedding band a t the hotel and sent them a message No later than two hours had passed and I received a call from them telling me they had it and was packed and ready to ship to wherever I arranged through a Link they sent me. Outstanding!! I cant thank them enough!

Great hotel with plenty of facilities. The rooms were very clean, modern and comfortable. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. The swimming pool was also a bonus, which you could access as part of your stay! There are also plenty of buses that stop right outside the hotel to take you into town.

Breakfast cost us more when purchased directly at the restaurant in the morning. On our first day, we bought a voucher from reception which was about £8 cheaper. We weren't aware of the price difference till purchasing breakfast the next morning. The food was good however.
