The quality of the accomodation is second to none. Quirky rooms and very interesting to stay in. Great quality bed and room. Great attention to detail. Even complimentary port and fudge. The room wasn't too noisy as the pub is a high quality mainly food venue downstairs. After arrival we ventured downstairs. Very good quality food and not stupid prices. Breakfast clearly very high quality local fresh ingredients. Generous portions. Couldn't manage the yogurt and granola as well. Coffee very good also. Staff very friendly. Casper who served us breakfast very helpful and friendly.an asset to the pub! Will definitely go back!

Hard to say.

I had the breakfast hamper and it was just brilliant, great pastries, orange juice, porridge and jam. Absolutely first rate products and brilliantly presented. Best breakfast this year bar none. Very considerate and obliging staff. Absolutely brilliant eveing meal with superb food and a great range of beers. Wonderful room (Bacchus) with amazing fittings and fictures especially the roll top bath. Great for car parking. definitely the best room this year. Talk to the staff about the food because they were so so helpful. Lovely location and very peaceful.

Stunning pub, room and location. Amazing service from start to finish and a delicious dinner. I was in the deluxe suite and it was just lovely. Quirky and beautiful decor, with thoughtful touches like dressing gowns and port in the room that made it feel a real treat. Love the bath in the room. The bed was very comfortable. I was away for business and the price was comparable with hotels in the area, but I would love to spend some time here relaxing with my husband.

Breakfast starts at 9am. Not really aimed at business travellers, so this makes sense, but it's the only downside for me. I bet the breakfast is delicious. The staff left a hamper outside my room though, with croissant, blueberry muffin, porridge, apple and banana.

Quaint pub in the countryside but a short drive to the Eurotunnel shuttle. Parking onsite. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Room was a delight. Bed extremely comfortable. Massive standalone bathtub that can easy fit two. Lots of hot water. All amenities provided even a free small bottle of port. Restaurant food was enjoyable.

To be considered - as the rooms are above the pub and there are old wood floor boards, one can slightly hear the goings-on below. As the pub closes at 23:00, this should not affect sleeping, especially with the soft cosy bed linen. Figuring out where the light switches were was a detective game. Hint - look behind the mirror.

Lovely country pub/restaurant, in an isolated location but only 15 minutes from the M20 and very handy for the Eurotunnel. The area is really attractive and looked great for walking, though sadly we didn't have time and the weather was horrible! Very friendly, and efficient, staff. Big, beautifully furnished and decorated, and very comfortable, room. Fantastic food. Excellent value overall. We particularly liked the fridge of milk on the landing, and the supply of tea and coffee that doesn't assume, as so many places do, that you only want one cup!

A bit of noise from the bar late into the evening, and from traffic in the early morning. I'm not a fan of baths in bedrooms, though some people are (and in fairness in an old building it's hard to see how a separate bathroom could have been fitted in).

Second time we stayed here and again we were surprised by the friendliness, quirkiness, and overall very good service and quality of food and drinks. Second time we only stayed for 1 night on the road to the rest of the UK and the second time we told ourselves that next time we’ll stay longer. Good food, great atmosphere, nice people, lovely interior and just fair prices.

Nothing to mention. Except maybe we would like more pubs/inns like this spread over the rest of the country :-)

Had the pleasure of staying here last night, our stay was so amazing I had to write a review immediately. We booked through Booking.com after a recommendation from a friend whom we was visiting for a 40th. We arrived to check in @ 3pm & was greeted by a friendly smiley barman, whilst he sorted our room & took up our cases, we sat outside in the lovely beer garden with a cold glass of vino. Our double room was a little smalll but it had everything we needed, including a fan (it was a hot bank holiday weekend). Great facilities, thoughtful finishing touches & toiletries. Bed was extremely comfortable & had the best nights sleep. Breakfast was cooked to perfection & there was a great selection on offer. Coffee was amazing! Our waitress was ever so friendly & helpful and couldn’t do enough for us. We didn’t want to leave however, we will definitely be going back for dinner when we next visit our friend. Thank you so much for our wonderful stay x

I loved the look and location; proper old fashioned looking country pub. Loved the decor. It had obviously been updated, but it was completely sympathetic with the ethos of a very old inn. There were a lot of recycled items used, brilliantly. I really loved almost all of the decoration and coziness

I didn't like my bathroom. It was too small and separated from the bedroom by only a partition; ie--- no privacy for strategic operations (when sharing obviously) I couldn't locate any bedside light that could be switched from the bedside Window needed to be cleaned and frame painted (it looked shabby) Hated the chandelier (personal taste!)

The breakfast was fantastic. Sourdough bread with advocado, two poached eggs (perfection) and an option of bacon, smoked salmon or mushrooms. With an amazing hollandaise sauce with honey or mustard, just too wonderful. Worth going to the Five Bells for breakfast alone! Loved the shabby chic of the rooms, and the dining room.

A TV in the room would have been good. There was a tv point and plug half way up the wall. But really, that is about it.

Amazing location with beautiful scenery. Gorgeous little pub. Super comfy beds! Partner took a picture to buy her own duvet 😅. The food was extremely good we both loved it! The staff were very helpful and friendly. Complimentary Port in the room was a very nice touch and it was really nice Port too! Bath is a perfect size.

The beams are very low but can’t really be helped being an old pub, plus I’m 6ft 3 so I was constantly ducking and did hit them a few times lol. The smell of the toilet seemed to come up through the floor after use but they close pretty early so that wasn’t a real issue unless you plan to spend all day in your room.
