The location was great, Hythe High street was opposite the hotel. The bus stops were immediately outside. The seafront and the Military Canal were within easy walking distance. As stated in a previous review the Hotel is old and has old wooden sash windows and old floor boards, but these did not detract from our stay. Free Hotel parking was available to the rear of the property. The Staff were nice and friendly. The evening meals were lovely and there was a good choice of beers.

Being an old building my wife found the stairs to be a little steep. We had breakfast only on one day. The food was lovely, but it only consisted of a cooked breakfast and a hot drink which we felt that this did not offer great value for £12.00. We thought that maybe fruit juice, cereal and extra toast could have been available.

The booking process, check in, quality of room, the restaurant and private parking were all excellent. The staff were also very helpful. This is an ideal place to stay in Hythe with all the local shops and restaurants within walking distance. The only downside during this visit was that there was no breakfast service (due to no chef available). We were advised of this during the booking process. Would certainly stay here again

Breakfast availability (although there are places to eat nearby)

Would suggest you choose an even numbered room which are at the back of the hotel. We were in a odd number at the front by the main road. Window was open all the time as very warm in the room, so you could hear traffic. A fan in the room would have been nice. We ate at the pub, food was excellent and good value for money. Staff were friendly from the moment we arrived to when we left after our two night stay.

Restaurant facilities good. Good range of drinks available in the bar. Fairly big garden for outdoor drinking. Friendly staff.

Shower water flow somewhat slow; needs a bigger shower head. The water pressure in the bath room was OK in the basin so the shower should have been better. Takes a very long time to get HOT water anywhere into the bathroom opening the basin tap.

We have visited annually for the last 10 years. Under new management it continues to be a welcoming team with clean and comfortable bedrooms. On site parking is a bonus.

Despite not being fully booked during our stay we were given the room above the bin store with staff emptying recycling bottles late at night. Discrepancies on booking site and in bedroom breakfast charged at £7.50 on arrival charged £10 totalled an extra £40 on booking. Website could do with details like live music playing which might disturb customers with the extra noise.

Location. Room had windows on two sides and was pleasing. Helpful staff. Cotton bed linen.

Weather was cold and room had a small single radiator which wasn’t adequate to heat room of that size and it never got very hot. I had two beds in my room so I was able to use bedding from both beds. I think the mattresses need replacing. Breakfast chef on holiday but understandable as it was low season.

I like the welcome to The Red Lion and how easy it was to check in and check out. The hospitality once checked in at the pubs was great. The rooms can get hot but like how we could open the windows or get a fan to help. Great location to shops and the beach and with parking.

How to check out wasn't that clear, but once we found the instructions it was easy to check out.

Room was spacious. Didn't take meals on premises.

On arrival, the hotel had no record of my booking and my room had been allocated to another guest. After a time, another room was found for me. It would appear there was a lack of communication between yourselves and the hotel. If, luckily, they hadn't had a free room I would have travelled 500 miles to visit a dying friend to no avail. I would like to know what went wrong.

Our third visit here for an overnight stop on a long journey. Very convenient for the tunnel, only 10 mins drive. Good food in the restaurant and we're delighted you now have a coffee machine for an after dinner espresso, thank you!

The parking is tricky but great when you can get parked. We were woken up at 5.15am by a very loud "motor" noise in the shower room, which was quite alarming.

The staff were polite, friendly and welcoming. The room and en suite was clean and the bed very comfortable with nice bedding. Tea making facilities had PG tips teabags as well as hot chocolate and coffee. Also 4 best biscuits! Our evening meal was value for money and we really enjoyed a shared starter of cheesy nachos. Lovely waiter bought us our food and checked we had all we wanted. We made use of the fan supplied in our room as a warm night and slept well, Breakfast was also great and served by a cheerful staff member. We really did enjoy our stay and will return .

The shower was a decent size with nice shower gel but it would really benefit having a bigger shower head as the one currently fitted is a little small. Everything else was great
