Spacious bedroom. Dog friendly. Beautiful grounds. Disappointed at Terrace menu on first evening but this was quickly and easily resolved and Restaurant menu was offered. Amazing Spa treatment.

Had dog so only able to eat in Conservatory - bland and draughty. Staff were very friendly but clearly understaffed for number of guests so service was slow and slightly chaotic.

From the moment we arrived, the welcome was of the highest standard. Our room was impeccable, spacious, spotlessly clean, and with a very nice view. For dinner, there are two excellent options: a four-course menu in the main restaurant or an à la carte menu on the terrace. My husband and I would especially like to highlight the outstanding service provided by Hamish, incredibly kind, professional, and discreet. As for breakfast, what can we say? Excellent quality, attentive service, and a clear dedication from the manager, Moreen. We will definitely be back. A great stopover for those on a road trip through Cornwall — perfect both as a base for exploring nearby towns and as a relaxing retreat on its own.

We didn't stay for food as it was only a flying visit, but the room was lovely and big and clean with a great view over the golf course. Bed was really comfy and big. Plenty of parking. Staff were really friendly and called us to check if we needed food, as we arrived late to the hotel which was really kind.

It was a little noisy during the night as the hotel walls seemed to creak with the wind and it disturbed my sleep, a little strange, I never experienced this before. There was a bucket in the corridor (to catch drips?) outside the room which was not a great first impression.

All the facilities were well maintained and accessible to everyone. There is a golf course, tennis courts, spa, table tennis and a snooker table. The spa was excellent, it was quiet and relaxing after a busy day. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I very much liked that you had a choice over where to eat meals, such as in the conservatory area, lounge or outside and the restaurant for a fine dining experience. The food was excellent, especially the afternoon teas!

The breakfast options are quite limited. If you didn’t want the cooked breakfast, a continental meal is provided however there was not much to choose from.

I loved the quiet location. I am a single traveller with mobility problems so was unable to access the spa facilities. The hill to the creek is very steep, but the hotel offered a lift by golf buggy,, so it is accessible. The staff were very helpful in bringing food and drinks and carrying my luggage. Thank you for the disabled parking near the door.

All the steps, but the hotel have done what they can to mitigate them. I would also like to see some more choice on the bar menu and preferably an alternative pricing on the dinner menu. It would great to have prices for 2 or 3 courses. I cannot eat 3 courses, so every night I was in the hotel, I ate in the bar.

Probably one of the nicest hotels I have stayed in in the UK. Delightful staff who cannot help you enough the breakfasts were absolutely amazing. The rooms were clean. The bed was absolutely gorgeous. We requested a small fridge for medication which was produced instantly and later we asked for a fan on a very hot day and within five minutes a Porter brought us a fan which was lovely. The hotel and spa area are spotless and the swimming pool, sauna and Jacuzzi well maintained. It was just an absolutely wonderful break and four days was not enough. We are already planning a return visit as soon as we can this is an absolute gem of a hotel and absolutely could not fault anything about it. There was plenty of parking incredibly quiet and prices mid range However the quality was exceptional so it felt like very good value.

Due to the heat, the windows had to be open to let some airflow occasionally we would smell the smoke from the heating system that powered the swimming pool which smelt a little bit like burnt newspapers. This was not intrusive, however other than that it was absolutely perfect.

The onsite Spa facilities were good. The indoor pool was easily accessible and rarely busy when we stayed. Some guests thought the outdoor hot tub was too hot. I, however enjoyed its availability. The gardens which lead down to the river and sun lounge were a delight. Free EV charging was a definite bonus.

The nine hole golf course finishes outside the restaurant but the green is partially obscured by shrubs which slightly spoiled the entertainment of watching the not so great golfers' putting skills. Evening meals looked a bit pricey with a limited selection for vegans and vegetarians. On the other hand, if you are out and about during the day, you may find you have enjoyed too much food and drink and you simply don't have room for dinner! Finally, I didn't like that my first name is missing from this review, but that's booking.com's fault -not the hotel's!

Lovely hotel. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Beds were comfortable although the pillows were a little soft for us. The bathrooms were very modern with toiletries supplied. Breakfast was very nice with plenty of choice. We had dinner on the terrace one night and that was very good (fresh pizza). Lovely new sauna. Lovely grounds with a nice walk down to the river.

Some of the communal areas could do with a refurb. The swimming pool was also a bit tired looking although we enjoyed it. Signs for coastal walk to the Ferry Boat Inn wasn't clear how far away it was so we didn't try it.

A lovely hotel, our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer, no iron or ironing board, however was possibly available if we required one. We only ate at the hotel 1 night on the terrace looking out over the golf course and the food was lovely. Excellent facilities with a pool and hot tub, there's gowns, flip flops and pool towels in the wardrobe. There was a safe in the wardrobe but no fridge. The entrance to the hotel is to the left of the hotel sign along a tree lined drive, which opens up to the hotel with a tennis court and car park further along to the right. The hotel is nestled among beautiful grounds, there's a pathway leading down to the private beach area, however not ideal for anyone with any mobility issues. We stayed here for 3 nights and the location was ideal as a base for visiting other areas of Cornwall and wasn't too far from Falmouth town and the Marina with the Maritime Museum, which is definitely worth visiting. There is a lift, however there are a few steps up to access where the lift is located and steps within the hotel to access the restaurant. The hotel was ideal for us and would definitely recommend.

The steps to access where the lift is located. The car park could do with being resurfaced as it has a very uneven surface.

We got an amazing deal, and everything about our stay was perfect! The room was clean and comfortable, and the hotel grounds were beautiful. The facilities were excellent — including an indoor pool with a sauna and an outdoor jacuzzi, all included in the price. There’s also a spa centre and a golf fields, which added to the experience. We stayed during a birthday celebration, and the hotel surprised us with sweets and a lovely greeting card — such a thoughtful touch! The service was outstanding: everything was handled quickly and smoothly. Free car parking was a bonus, and the beds were very comfortable. We also appreciated the bathrobes and flip-flops provided for the pool.

Since the building has historical character, there’s a charming sense of old-world atmosphere. However, one minor downside is the creaky floors in some of the corridors. It’s a small detail that doesn’t spoil the overall experience.
