Very welcoming feel, looked beautiful on the outside, rustic and quirky on the inside. Very friendly staff, very helpful. Rooms were clean, welcoming and had all the welcoming amenities for a good hotel at good value. Comfortable bed, nice bathroom, good water pressure for a cracking shower and a nice hot bath.

We happened to arrive and stay on probably the few hottest days Fort William ever experienced, coupled with the top floor, the room was uncomfortably hot. I will never put this down to the hotels fault, thankfully a request for a fan was granted. Forever grateful. That was the only blemish that I could put down as a negative. If I was to be super critical? There were places that appeared to be tired, doors catching, being a little hard to close without slamming, windows being a bit grotty, a lick of paint wouldn't go amiss. I will still not put this as being bad, I will definitely be returning.

We booked the hotel as it stated close to the railway, so we’re very surprised to find the hotel just across the road from the station when we arrived. The staff seemed friendly, especially Inga the duty manager. The hotel is clean and the room amenities good, though a little small. The hotel seems mainly to cater for coach or organised trips. The breakfast was ok, but would advise if you want a good Scottish breakfast to walk into Fort William. The hotel is right on the town outskirts, so everything is close by. Though neat and tidy, the hotel is just a bit tired, and could probably do with a bit of TLC. Though when you are just using it as a base, if I was coming back up to Fort William by train, I would book the Alexandra again

The location of this hotel is ideal, right at the start of the high street and an easy walk to the train and bus station. Reception was friendly, welcoming, and super helpful. My room was large and had all the expected amenities. Breakfast wasn't spectacular, but was hot with lots of options and served for a good range of hours.

My room was neither well ventilated nor at all soundproof, so it got a bit stuffy and I sometimes heard my neighbors. Both things you might expect in an older building, but ways in which the property might benefit from some refurbishment and modernization.

Clean & comfortable with a decent shower, all three an absolute must & this hotel was excellent. The staff were fantastic, from the check in to the restaurant & bar & the cleaners!!! Breakfast was okay but I'm not a great early eater. Ate in the restaurant twice at night & both meals were of an extremely HIGH nature, really, really impressed with them both. Location was perfect for the area. Thanks to Elaine, James & ALL the staff, TOP draw!!

Apart from leaving I found the TV useless. All I need is a news channel & a radio option, not these other apps I couldn't get to work. If I did, eg; Netflix, I watched two episode of a series then it asked me to log in again & I couldn't???? Just your "bog standard" free-view TV is grand, (for me, anyway). Didn't spoil my stay as I have a radio option on my mobile!!! TWS

Very close to the train station and the High Street. Nice well appointed room with an updated and very clean bathroom. Good choice at breakfast and everything from the hot buffet was hot which is always a plus.

Light bites like sandwiches only served until 5pm. We’d been travelling on the sleeper train and didn’t sleep well, traipsed round town for hours before being able to get into our room , fell asleep and missed getting a sandwich which we really wanted as we’d had a main meal at lunchtime. I get that they have a dining room with evening meals but most big hotels can easily offer both.

Great location near train station, bus station, and High Street with shops and nice eating places - although traffic was a little noisy if the window was open. Staff were helpful and pleasant. Beds were firm but comfortable. Rooms very clean. Breakfast buffet was hot and plentiful, although breakfast was ended by 9.30 and the continental options were limited when we stayed. Nice touches such as the book swap area in the lounge, and the comfy chairs in the Reception area.

The hotel is rather dated and tired looking. A freshen up and some colour would work wonders.

We liked the hotel close proximity to Fort William town centre and train station because we were there to travel on the Jacobite train to Mallaig. There are various restaurants in the town serving locally caught sea food at reasonable prices. The hotel was very clean generally, our room was in the original building and looked out over well kept gardens to Loch Linnhe. The bedding and en-suite bathroom were spotless! The receptionist was very welcoming and helpful as were the breakfast staff.

The hotel is very much serving tour bus tourism hence there are always large tour groups moving through the hotel especially in the breakfast room. This did lead to crowding between 7am-9am ahead of bus departure times.

Location nearby the station and the centre was great. Staff was really friendly. Got an early check-in. Great value for money.

The room was a bit too hot. Didn't see a way to decrease the temperature.

I arrived late and exhausted with a muddy bike and huge rucksack. I was given a warm welcome and everyone was super kind and friendly. As per pre-arranged agreement, I stored my bike in their meeting room and given a bonus late check out. As I went to take my bike and lock it for the 7 hour wait until my train, staff reassured me saying 'no, your bike will be safer here' and let me leave my bike and large backpack with them all day. And they propped open the main doors in readiness to make life a little easier for me. Really, really appreciated. The team deserves their great reputation Also, I had A STUNNING view across the water. Money can't buy beauty straight from my bedroom window 😍

I stayed in room 212 and it was spotless. Size of the room was very decent. The window opened a couple of inches for fresh air. Window did not face the road and so i experienced no sound of cars. I had everything i needed for a comfortable stay. TV, tea facilities (receptionists are always warm and helpful and gave me extra milk, teas and sugars when I asked). The corridors are a nice cosy temperature and did not smell. Zero chance of feeling cold as the room had a working radiator which worked on the maximum setting and an additional portable heater inside the cupboard just in case. Hotel is located centrally, and is literally across the street from the train station and morrisons supermarket as well as a few mins from the high street. My bathroom had a show/bath combo and the shower was powerful and was able to stay consistently hot. Nice clean towels and I liked that there is a nice big sink with a very large mirror in the bedroom opposite the bed which meant I didn't have to go to the bathroom every time I needed to use the tap. Bed was also comfortable and the pillows were the best I've ever laid my head on (like sleeping on lovely puffy marshmellows, which moulded around my neck and shoulders perfectly). The room is presently as basic, but it's very cosy and felt homely to me which I really liked. Rceptionists were just lovely and kind. No mold anywhere and the bathroom was exceptionally clean. I really liked the late check in and checkout, great for checking in after my long walks and a long lazy lie in the day after. Definitely staying here again!

Furniture looked a little dated, such as the drawers, a little bit round the bathtub and the carpet shows wear around the edges, no holes in the middle of the carpet - I didn't consider any of these things major and they didn't detract from my stay. If a stylish, modern looking room is what you need this isnt it. What you will get is a humble, cosy, comfortable room that you il felt immediately at home in. No air con but I stayed at the beginning of August and it was pouring down with rain and cold outside the whole time.
