Everything!! I don't know how some people can give bad reviews for anything. We LOVED our stay. The room and bed were huge, the view from the room was incredible (204). The hotel had everything we look for, for a relaxing weekend away. The staff were so so friendly and a shout out to Derek, he had his first shift and did super well. There's a quiet wee bar for afternoon drinks, a lovely restaurant off this for dinner and breakfast, a huge cosy lounge and a small library which was equally as cosy. The breakfast is plentiful and set us up for walking to the Hidden Valley. We will be back for sure.

The fire alarm going off 4 times between 3-3.30am, I am assuming this was due to the clock change. We are adults, we can deal with it but felt sorry for those with small children, of which there were a few.

The location of this hotel ensures it is a popular place to stay. The staff were very friendly and the room was clean and comfortable. The Fish restaurant had great views over the Loch

Our stay was let down really by the evening meal in the Fish restaurant. We were put on a table for 2 by the wall which had limited space and felt like you had been put into a corridor. The restaurant t was very busy so was really noisy. There were not enough staff on so we had a long wait to be served and then the drinks order was wrong and the quality of food was a real let down. The burger especially was poor, missing the pickles and slaw, accompanied by 2 very sorry looking onion rings, and sauce was conspicuous by its absence. No sauce or vinegar offered and no chance to ask for any given the lack of staff availability. Breakfast in the morning was standard buffet fare.

This hotel has a historical etiquette. The staff is very friendly. The rooms spacious and confortable. We stayed in rooms 203 and 204. The food in the restaurant is very nice.

The breakfast is decent while I would recommend to add a bit more fruits. We did not know that the hotel was haunted until we were there. We experienced indeed footsteps at night in the corridor and in our room that were not from our neighbors, 2 nights in a row the lights in the corridor turned triggered by the movement detectorz but no footsteps, nothing, both happened between 1 and 3 am both nights as I could not sleep. If you like this type of atmosphere you will love the old section of the hotel while I would not recommend this for children. My daughter also mentioned having experienced somebody whispering in her ear. As said nice hotel, very friendly staff, so not really negative but be aware of the atmosphere when booking it.

Beautiful historic hotel not far from the beautiful glen coe valley. The resturant is the highlight and some of the best food we ate of similar establishments around scotland.

The reviews arent lying when they speak of the noise of the original staircase and floors within the building (part of the charm?!). We requested a quiet room (and it was quiet-ish) but you can still hear the sounds of people walking everywhere at all times of the day and night - imagine if you are in a central room its even louder but if you're a deep sleeper then that may be fine for you!

Gwen was so welcoming x initially we were allocated a rear bedroom. I kindly asked if we could have a loch view - I find water calming. Gwen very kindly transferred us to a Loch view. Thank you so much. The room was so comfortable and lovely decor. The stairway is stunning. The toiletries and refreshments in the room were great. I had the best bathe - the water was piping hot! X

We felt the £30 charge for our little Boston Terrier was high, BUT I can understand it with bigger, hairier dogs, especially if they'd been out romping the Glen's.

The important things about this hotel are very good - the service (Liam, Marcello and Jo in particular)... the quality of food in the Fish Restaurant... and the rooms themselves. For most people that should be enough, and is enough for us to come back again. This is a very good hotel with fabulous staff and amazing food and the rooms are super.

But there are some tiny tweaks they could change this from "almost very good" to "exceptional" - for example the first impression is via the car park, that has no branding and looks a bit average... the corridors to the rooms could benefit from some wall coverings to smarten them up... and to get to the bar, you have to go out of the hotel front door and turn left... which can be cold being on the loch - there must be a way to move people from the warmth of the hotel and into the bar area without getting cold?

A perfect 10, not because everything went smoothly, but because of how the team handled what didn’t. We arrived tired at 8pm, only to find that the room assigned to us hadn’t been cleaned, a simple oversight from housekeeping. Mistakes happen, and what matters most is how they’re addressed. The front office team member responded swiftly, professionally, and with genuine consideration for how exhausted we must have been. She took responsibility and resolved the issue with the best possible outcome: a complimentary upgrade. Their handling turned a potential frustration into a moment of real hospitality. Well done!

The location and food

The service at dinner, food order wrong , servers x 3 people didn’t get water when asked for, difficulty with the 2 female servers who didn’t really understand what we wanted, when food was wrong they didn’t take it off table just left it there, then after we had been served our meal not one server came to ask if everything was ok or how was our food. Then when we had finished main course not asked if we wanted to see dessert menu they just said do you want the bill. Also because it was my birthday and I had an upgrade I didn’t want to question the 10% service charge added on invoice. If I didn’t get an upgrade I would not have paid it I’m afraid. Room and front of house very attentive

A romantic Victorian baronial hotel that has seen better days. The lobby has a spectacular and grand Victorian staircase which feeds to a maze of corridors on the first and second floors at the end of which was our room, a perfectly adequate space with a retrofitted small bathroom. The room had a fine view of the loch. The dining room was busy and crowded but the staff were competent and friendly and the food was good.

The lounge is a wonderful space but the furniture and upholstery have seen better days. The coverings were worn and frayed on many pieces.

Loved this hotel's location. Very beautiful backdrop. Very lovely decorated hotel, gives you a feeling of entering a historic place. Room was cozy, lovely view. Restaurant on site was convenient, breakfast was delicious with quite the spread and an amazing view in the dining hall. Most of the staff seemed friendly and helpful.

Initially, when checking in, I found my room to not be the loch view I had chosen. I informed the front desk, and after a little while of clarification, the issue was resolved. Stairs are incredibly squeaky, i understand they are original to the building, little unnerving. Shower water temperature was unnecessarily difficult to regulate, either too cold or too hot. Fish restaurant on site is quite pricey, and our waiter had a sort of arrogance to him that was a little off-putting. The desert was basically 2 bites for £10. All in all, for the price of the room, it's still a great option in the Glencoe region.
