Private bunk-style accommodation in the centre of Fort William, with cool contemporary decor very much in keeping with the history of the place (former prison cell). For the price, this place can’t be beaten. Clean and warm, with a pretty luxurious private shower and hot drinks in the bar area whenever you want them. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this place to anyone after an up-market hostel-style experience. And the staff were so nice!
In an ideal world, there’d have been a bit more storage space in the room (perhaps under the bottom bunk). It’s a bit cramped for two people plus hillwalking gear. That said, I didn’t expect that, and even without it, I’d not hesitate to stay again.

Underfloor heating to bathroom. Very clean. Comfortable bed. Quality toiletries. Very helpful staff. 10-12 min straight walk from station, but longer if stop along highstreet shops/ bars. (Nice assortment of shops, albeit some are closed down.)
No room to accommodate, but as a facility no wardrobe. But there is a small hanging space with hangars. Great for light travel. Very grateful for upgrade. Original room one of cells. I knew bathroom was separate ( private) but did not expect room only just able to accommodate a double bed, which was against wall, so one of sleepers would need to clamber over other, if got up in night. Quirky and clean but literally is size of a cell.

Very clean and tidy. Liked the old cell doors. The room was very small but was en-suite with adequate plug sockets and even a tv.
As I said above, the room was very small. This generally isn’t an issue when we stay elsewhere if there is even a communal seating area, which there was but in the morning was for only the guests who were paying for breakfast. So I had a coffee and was allowed to sit at a stool in the corner out the way of the other guests. I only stayed ten minutes then left as it felt like I was just in the way. There was nowhere to sit and relax in my room as it had small bunk beds and no seat so we just packed up and left early.

Due to unforeseen circumstances I needed to gift this booking to my sister. The Garrison Cells was the last stop (homeward bound) of what was a 9 day experience of the North Coast 500. She enjoyed the novelty factor of the prison like characteristics. Room selection had been for a cell so the space was quite small (As you would expect for a former holding establishment) The availability of complimentary coffee was very much appreciated (she loves a latte or two) She described the location as perfect for exploring Fort William and being within walking distance for some dining opportunities.
No dislikes (you wouldn’t expect a former holding establishment to have large cells and be completely luxurious …..and larger rooms can be selected)

Stayed in one of the cell style rooms great prices and is to be what I expected, staff were friendly and couldn't fault them on anything were attentive and helpful with questions and requests. I'm a Hotel Manager myself and from going to hotel to hotel I would recommend this for anyone in the Fort William area. The rooms I seen where modern and tidy. The atmosphere in the Bar was lovely and drinks were reasonably priced. The addition of the coffee machine in the bar was a nice touch and helped me to get a drink to take out to the cold.
Noticed some minor cleaning missed in the bathroom in the sink area but can understand the odd bit here and there having cleaned them myself. If I had raised this at the desk I'm more than positive it would of been sorted so no worries from me there all in all a great stay and will be back in the mid year.

I loved this hotel! Staff was super friendly. I booked one of the ‘cells’ and was on my own. The shower was across the room and clean, nice and warm. There were soft towels and bathrobes provided which I loved. The room was small, but had everything I needed. I especially liked that they chose to incorporate a toilet and sink in the small bathroom that was inside room, and kept the shower outside. So going to the toilet, brushing your teeth etc was something you could do in the comfort of your own room. Breakfast was absolutely lovely and very affordable for what you got (any type of coffee/tea, fruit juice, bread basket with condiments, a starter and a main).
So the only thing I feel I should mention is the mattress. I slept here for one night after finishing the West Highland Way and was so happy to have a good shower and sleep in a bed. But the mattress wasn’t very firm and after only one night there was a big dent in it. It was okay for me because it was only one night and I had slept in a tent for 9 nights, but if you’re staying longer it might not be the most comfortable.

We had the double cell room. Clean, small but everything you need. External shower was great, providing shampoo conditioner and soap, with robes and nice big towels provided too so it was easy to get between room and shower. Free tea and coffee in the restaurant at any time was a great bonus. The building retains some of the former prison character which makes it special. Central location. Great value overall.
In keeping with the theme of being a garrison, the lighting was a bit dim, so we wedged the bathroom door open to light our room.

Outstanding service that made you literally feel like you’d been invited round someone’s house. Yvonne and Valerie were just two of the amazing team of staff at this unique hotel and they couldn’t have been more welcoming and accommodating. The beds were really comfortable with impeccably fresh clean bedding on the beds and as for the breakfast, by the time I’d had the table service Blueberry Smoothie, flat white coffee, croissants, orange juice my delicious eggs Benedict was just superb. All served with a genuine care and politeness by the team. You will not be disappointed by your stay here and we can’t thank Yvonne and Valerie and the team enough for making our trip memorable
Absolutely nothing. It was a fantastic stay and can’t fault the hotel.

We stayed in one of the cells with bunks. The room was small but fine for our short stay of 3 nights. Very limited storage, 6 hangers available. The room had a small en-suite toilet and very small sink (which had no plug). We had a dressing gown and slippers provided to use to go to our own shower nearby. Clean towels daily. Comfy beds. We had breakfast on one morning which was excellent. Plenty of choice available and all cooked to request. Tea and coffee is available 24/7 in the bar, mugs provided in our room for this purpose. Apples and sweets available on the bar/reception. All staff were very welcoming and helpful. The Garrison is well located at the end of the High Street a 10 minute walk from the train and bus stations and many eateries and shops.
Parking availability was quite limited, but this did not affect us as we arrived by train. We were free to use the bar area, but it would have been nice to have some comfortable lounge style chairs to relax in in the bar as there were no chairs in the cell.

We stayed in the cells... rooms are tiny (but as expected). Hopefully your mate doesn't snore too loud. Otherwise it was a quite nice experience. The shower is a separate room (private to your room, just no space) but you do have a toilet and sink in your cell which was very nice. Coffee/Tea are provided and beds are comfortable. Location is also a short walk into the city area.
Limited on site parking. Next available parking option is not far but an extra 5 for overnight.
