They have updated the facilities since September 23. The room seemed cleaner and brighter . They have added upgraded electrical (usb )at the desk. Very nice bedding, too. The Aviator restaurant had a nice menu (see comments below). A lovely tray of coffee and tea with Walker biscuits was a pleasant upgrade, too.

There was no USB at the besides. There is no lift (though they gave us a room only a few steps up from the lobby ). The formerly sleepy, delightful restaurant is now a noisy sports bar. Perhaps they should urge reservations to get a seat in the quieter section? Nice menu, though. And, finally, they should disclose the additional ,£8.00 each way fee for using the cool pod translation from terminal 5.

Room is clean, It has a working heater/air conditioner. You can set the temperature you need. It has nice comfortable bed and comforter. We used a taxi to get to the hotel. It cost 20 pounds from Terminal 5 , and it takes about 20 min. On the way back we used PODS- 8 pounds per person. It wakes less then 10 min to get to terminal 5. Breakfast: Very good. They had sunny side up and scrambled eggs, beans. sausage, milk, juices, coffee, pastries, several types of cereal and yogurt,

We rented 2 rooms. The phone to call from room to room was not working.

- Would certainly recommend staying here if you have a flight to catch the next day. There is a Premier Inn across the road as well which I think is slightly better quality (I'd stayed there once before), but I would simply choose the one with the better price. - The room was nice enough, clean, and quiet. The bed was comfortable. - The rooms had a number of good accessories such as iron board, kettle, complementary water etc. - The staff were very friendly. - The location is great. The bus stops right outside the hotel, comes every 20 minutes and it's 2 stops to Heathrow (around 10 minutes).

- The shop inside the hotel is very expensive but there is a petrol station and corner shop not far away so I recommend going there. - The hotel restaurant food was bad. - The hair dryer in my room was broken. - There isn't much of a view out your window, you just look out onto a car park.

Food was lovely and good value. Location was excellent.

Only a couple of things I wasn't overly impressed with, the first was the price of the pods to get t to T5. Not extortionate, until we realized we paid per head, to get a code, which is just a gate code to unlock it. Taxi would have been so much cheaper, but we did it for the experience. Maybe if they were cheaper more customers would use them. The other disappointing thing is that the hotel is card payment only, such a shame. Cash is King. Without it the world will be such worse off. The irony of this is that there is a pool table in the bar area, which of course we wanted to play, we had no change on us, and unfortunately neither did the hotel! Again, cash is King!!

I enjoyed a very pleasant stay before flying to New York the next day. It's located close to Heathrow Airport, Terminal 5 and I used a hotel driverless pod to travel to the airport which was fun and quick! I also liked the inclusive cooked buffet breakfast. The hotel staff were friendly, professional and made me feel welcome.

The bathroom bin was rusty and didn't open with pedal.

5min from the T5 with the Heathrow Pods. Even with the price of the pod you can save money if you book this hotel instead of the Sofitel.

Room is on the smaller side but if you are only here for the overnight stay before the flight it is OK. The toilet in the bathroom was very close to the wall.

Convenience to get to T5 by bus, comfortable bed, good breakfast.

Bathroom needs some updating. Fixed shower head which drenches you in cold water if you forget to run it before getting in the bath. Shower curtain is sucked on to your body during shower which is annoying. Sink has no plug.

Easy to get to Terminal 5 in the pod in the morning, meal was lovely which I had in the evening before we flew. Room was clean, bed comfortable and shower nice and hot.

This hotel had just what we were looking for when we were unexpectedly stranded at Heathrow overnight. We needed a quiet, affordable hotel within easy reach of the airport, and Thistle London Heathrow Terminal 5 met those needs. The front desk staff were helpful and professional, and the "purple pods" (self-driving electric vehicles that held all four of us and our luggage) were an unusual and convenient way to get between the terminal and the hotel.

Unfortunately, there was some confusion about the hour at which the bar stopped serving food (10 pm). When we checked in, we asked about an onsite restaurant and were told that the restaurant was closed but the bar would be open until 11:30. Well... the restaurant was closed, but by the time we got up to the bar (10:20), the bar kitchen was also closed. Fortunately, the hotel did have some food available for sale in the lobby. so we made do. The information on Booking.com didn't mention that the pods cost 8 pounds per person per direction (to/from the terminal to the hotel), so that was an unexpected additional expense. Despite it being unexpected, I believe it was a reasonable amount to pay for such efficient and innovative transportation.

After figuring out what a POD is - it was easy and fun to make our way from T5 to the Thistle for our overnight stay. It was a 500 m walk from the POD station to the hotel - so be mindful if its raining (as it did on us). The hotel looks old from the outside, but it actually really nicely decorated inside, with a fantastic restaurant and bar (open late) and our room was small, but comfortable. Would definitely stay again.

Really didnt love having to pay 8 quid pp to take the POD back to T5 the next morning - surely the hotel can negotiate a cheaper rate.
